Leopoldo Fortino, age 83 of Versailles, passed away in his home on Thursday, January 3, 2019.  Born June 10, 1935 in Republic, he was a son of the late Leopoldo and Sarah (Metz) Fortino.  A retired delivery driver for Schneider Dairy, Leopoldo was a US Marine Corps Veteran.  He is survived by his wife Barbara (Balocik) Fortino; his daughters Lisa Klose, Debbie Ruggieri, and Sherry Hoebler; his seven grandchildren; and his three great-grandchildren.  Besides his parents, Leopoldo was preceded in death by his first wife Jane Fortino and his daughter Kimberly Fortino.

He was a former truck driver of 37 years for Marraccini Supermarket, the caretaker for Elizabeth Cemetery, and was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle rider.

Betty M. Barella, age 95 of Rostraver Twp., passed away at home on Thursday, January 3, 2019.  Born February 3, 1923 in Roscoe, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Teresa (Lucas) Malmgren.  The co-owner and bookkeeper of the former Barella's Lounge in Jefferson Hills, Betty also worked as a seamstress and payroll clerk for the US Army during World War II.  In her spare time, she was an avid reader and loved going to her place in the mountains, but her family will remember her most as a strong and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

William Levi Truax, age 82, of Clairton, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at home. He was a retired school principal for the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of the Daniel Keffer American Legion Post 75 in Clairton. He enjoyed hunting and softball. Born April 21, 1936 in Clairton, he was a son of the late Lee and Mabel (Garland) Truax. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Ann (DePasquali) Truax; and a niece and several nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Geraldine Gedrock, and brothers, Malcolm and David Truax. No visitation or services are planned. Arrangements by the Paul E. Mosa, Sr., age 87 of McKeesport and formerly of Glassport, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in the VA Hospital Healthcare System in Oakland.  Born September 27, 1931 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Joseph and Clara (Schmidt) Mosa.  Retired from Copperweld in Glassport, Arnold was a Korean War Veteran of the US Army and a member of the former St. Mary's German Church in McKeesport.  He was also a member of the 11th Ward Club, the CFU in Versailles, and the Elizabeth Ex-Servicemen's Association.  He joins his wife, the late Elizabeth (Asmondy) Mosa, who passed away November 23, 2017.

She was a member of Elizabeth United Methodist Church, a former member of the Lincoln Borough Mother’s Club, and was a Navy Wave veteran of World War II. Jeremy worked as a truck driver for Waste Management. Jeremy is survived by his wife Nicole (Sopko) Baker; children Katrina, Jeremiah, Alaina Baker; his father Gary Baker Sr. of Meadville; brothers Mike Mumford of Cochranton, PA and Jason Baker of Kuwait; mother in law Marie Sopko of Clairton; Aunts Rebecca Shoemaker and Amy Garbart. Services for Jeremy will be private. Memorials may be made to the Jeremy R. Baker Family Fund in care of “Go Fund Me”.

Shirley Ann (Caulfield) Barnes, age 86 of Versailles, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 in Concordia of Monroeville where she resided.  She was born February 21 1932 in McKeesport to the late Richard J. and Margaret C. (McCarren) Caulfield and was a graduate of McKeesport High School.  Afterwards, Shirley worked as a secretary for Fisher Body of West Mifflin until her marriage.  When her children were grown, she worked for the McKeesport Chamber of commerce.  Shirley always worked tirelessly at home for her family.  She was an avid sewer and quilter and she and her daughter Susan belonged to a local quilting club and enjoyed making quilts and blankets for those in need.  She was a skilled seamstress who made beautiful clothing and other items for her family.  She also baked delicious bread and canned fruits and vegetables from her large garden and fruit trees.
