Timothy A. Dailey 65, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019. He was born March 13, 1954 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Owens) Dailey. Tim was a graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School and Penn State University. He was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He had worked for US Steel Clairton Works, and also worked for Allegheny County as Assistant to the Director of Human Resources, tip staff to Judge Ronald Follino, and Supervisor for Juvenile Court/Probation. Tim lived his life according to the Beatitudes and put others' needs ahead of his own. He was a kind and gentile person. He will be sadly missed.

Unterseher, 75, of North Versailles, formerly of Duquesne, passed away with family by her side on Sept. 28, 2019.  She is the daughter of the late Gilbert Loveland and Laverne (Stein) Smith.  She is survived by her beloved husband Edward Unterseher; daughter Dawn (Paul) Kogut; son Edward (Gale) Unterseher; step grandson Ricky (Krystal) Martinelli; great grandson Nicholas; Aunt June Loveland; and she was also loved by many cousins, nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.  Terry was a member of St. Joseph Church in Duquesne and graduated from Duquesne High School in 1963.  Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne, Thurs. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8.  A funeral blessing will be held Friday, 10:00 am in the funeral home.  Interment following St. Joseph Cemetery.

Sophia A. Daily, age 95,  formerly of North Huntingdon, passed away September 27, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio. She was born May 15, 1924 in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Casmir and Mary Kruzek Wieliczko. Sophia was a former member of St. Agnes Church where she was a Christian Mother, prior to relocating to New Port Richey, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland E. Daily; brothers, John, Edward, Frank and Stanley Welesko; and sister, Helen M. Joseph. She is survived by two sons, David R. Daily and his wife, Karen, Dennis R. Daily and his wife, Brenda; daughter, Diane D. Bahno and her husband, Anthony; brother, Joseph Welesko; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.  Friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the James W. West; her children Andrew R. (Patricia) West of Clairton and Catharine (Craig) Supp of Elizabeth Twp.; her grandchildren Maj. Andrew (Tara) West of Pleasant Hills, Jessica (Douglas) Junecko of Port Vue, and Capt. Jeff (Lisa) West, currently stationed with the US Army; her great-grandchildren Ethan, Liam, and Sam West, Chloe Junecko, and Danielle Opfar; her great-great-grandchildren Mason, Rhiannon, and Jackson; and also nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings Isabella Rayer, and Thomas, James, and Frank McIntosh.

Denis Craig Sechrist, 65, of Somerset, previously of Glassport for 62 years, passed away at the U.P.M.C. Presbyterian Hospital in Oakland, Pittsburgh on Thursday, September 26, 2019. He was born in McKeesport to the late Harry Craig and Lois Forbes Sechrist on August 29, 1954. Denis is survived by his brother, Bruce D. (Carol) Sechrist, of Jessup, MD, and sister, June L. (Edgar) Weakland, of Somerset, and nephew, Bruce Edward Sechrist, of Somerset, and his cat, Silver. Denis graduated from South Allegheny High School in 1972, where he was equipment manager for football. After South Allegheny, Denis went on to CCAC, earning his Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences. He was employed by Mellon Bank as a mail clerk, was an avid sports fan, most especially when it came to the Penguins. He also enjoyed keeping up with current events, television, and was known as an amateur performer at the Senior Center. Denis was a member of the First Baptist Church, in Glassport, and also the Roof Top Garden Christian Church, in Somerset. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 at E.C. Robert P. Holuka, 73, of West Mifflin, originally from Duquesne, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019. Born March 29, 1946 to the late John and Mary (Magdich) Holuka. He was also preceded in death by his older brother, John. Robert is survived by his former wife, Karen (Lunz) Holuka.

He is already terribly missed by his daughter, Amy Tricia Graham. She will never forget her childhood memories of having "feet fights" on the couch, him allowing her to put barrettes and bows in what hair he had left, watching boxing with him and of course she still has and uses the toy box he made for her many decades ago. She will be forever so proud of him and very gratefull she inherited his Bob Vila and MacGyver skills and his quirkiness.

Joseph John Harchar, 96, a resident of Jefferson Hills for 67 years, formerly of Glassport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25, 2019.  He was born in Glassport on May 4th, 1923 to the late John and Mary Jackabcin Harchar. Joseph was the loving husband of Mary Ducko Harchar for 67 years. He is also survived by his sons, Joseph Harchar, of Woodbridge, VA, John (Judie) Harchar, of The Woodlands, TX, Kenneth Harchar of Jefferson Hills, and Robert Harchar of Jefferson Hills, nephew, Sidney (JoAnne) Cicchini , of Belle Vernon, and nieces, Phyllis Usko, of Forward Township, and Claire Marie (Tony) Cicchini Monias of Belle Vernon and Diane (Ed) Hickley of Port Vue. Joseph was preceded in death by his brother, Albert, and sisters, Helen, Ann, Irene, Teresa, Bertha and infant siblings, Mamie, Mamie and John. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal for his service. Joseph was a graduate of Penn State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1949. He attained membership in Tau Beta P, National Honorary Engineering Society, Chi Epsilon National Honorary Civil Engineering Society. He was a member of the Phi Kappa fraternity while attending college and is a lifetime member of the Penn State Alumni Association. After graduating college his working career began at the American Bridge Company, and continued through several engineering firms including Koppers Corporation and ending with the U.S. Corps of Engineers for 25 years.  He was a project engineer on several local flood protection projects, and project manager on multipurpose dam projects from which he retired in 1983. After retirement he was selected to join President Ronald Reagan’s Goodwill Ambassador Team to go to China and consult with the Chinese on the construction of the recently completed dam on the Yangtze River. He had to refuse this appointment due to the simultaneous illness of his wife, who underwent successful cancer surgery during the same period. Joseph was a former member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Clairton, which later became part of St. Clare Assisi. He enjoyed walking in the woods, fishing, gardening, including his “WWII Victory Garden”, was an ardent sports fan, a hobbyist mechanic and tinkerer, and enjoyed bird-watching, and was a dedicated family man. Joseph was a member of many organizations including: the Society of American Military engineers, Who’s Who in Engineering (1982), U.S. Committee on Large Dams, American Society of Civil Engineers, Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers, Tou Beta Pi Engineering Honorary Society, Chi Epsilon Civil Engineers Honorary Society, former member of the Jefferson Hills Borough Planning Commission, St. Joseph’s Branch #479 of the First Catholic Slovak Union, and the National Slovak Society. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 at E.C. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 235 Monongahela Ave, Glassport, PA 15045. A service will take place on Tuesday, at 10:00 at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, in Clairton. He was a life member and volunteer for the McKeesport Meals on Wheels. Herman was a retired business office manager for the former Bell of Pennsylvania in McKeesport and was a US Army Veteran.

McDermitt, who passed away November 2, 2011.  She is survived by many who were lucky enough to call her their friend.

Russell loved locomotive and steam trains, and could tell you anything you could ever want to know on trains and their routes. He also enjoyed riding and fixing his street bike, and was always working on something. He loved all his nieces and nephews and picking on them unmercifully.

Conroy, 57, of Rillton, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2019.  She was born June 10, 1962 in Jeannette, a daughter of Glenn and Jean (Clugsten) Minerva.  Carrie was a graduate of Hempfield Sr. High School, Class of 1980, and enjoyed baking, dancing and spending time with her family.  Carrie will be remembered for the immense love she had for her adoring family, and for her ability to light up a room with her smile. While her outer beauty was undeniable, it was her caring nature and selfless approach to life that allowed her beauty to shine inside and out. Family and friends will fondly share stories about her sticking up for her younger brothers, her willingness to take on anyone in an arm wrestling match, and the way she let loose on the dance floor. Her strength through the years is something to be admired and we know she will be remembered for it by every person her life touched...and for her amazing cookies.  She is survived by her loving husband, Kevin Conroy; daughter, Heather Conroy and her husband, Travis Rohrbaugh; brothers, Glenn (Gina) Minerva and Mike Minerva; nieces and nephews, Colton, Alex and Emily.  Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the James W. Austin Taylor Fagan, 23 of McKeesport, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in McKeesport, PA.

Austin was born August 20, 1996 at UPMC Magee Hospital.  He attended McKeesport, High School and graduated class of 2014.  While in high school, he was actively involved in playing basketball, baseball, and football.  Austin furthered his education by attending the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown Campus.  He was a former employee with the City of McKeesport for 9 years.  He started out as a summer employee working his way up the ranks to a fulltime permanent employee. He then began a new career as a laborer with Banks Gas Services in North Versailles.  Austin was an avid sports fan and follower of the great sports teams here in the ‘Burg’ - he “Bled” Black and Gold!!

He was a member of Covenant Church of Pittsburgh and occasionally visited Bethlehem Baptist Church of McKeesport where his family attends.

Austin loved family, being around friends, had “swag” and a great sense of humor.  He had a love for good food, music, being around people of all ages.  He was a true friend to his friends—ready and willing at a moment’s notice to be there for each of them for the sake of friendship.  Austin’s final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donations.. his organs have restored life’s promise for many families..and for this, we his family, know that his love and zest for life will live on in others.

John M. Santoro, age 86, of North Huntingdon died September 14, 2019 at home. He was born October 12, 1932  in Waterbury, Connecticut, a son of the late Michael and Anna Maria D'Anella. John was a member of St. Agnes Church. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by CMS East as a counselor and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Korean War. He was affectionately known by friends and family as “Tugboat”, a nickname he earned from his 35-year career as a tugboat captain at U.S. Steel. 

His favorite place to spend time was his “retirement home”, a camper and community near Pymatuming Lake, where he loved boating, fishing and spending his days with friends and family. 

Ron had a larger than life personality and he lit up the room with his raucous laughter. He was a devoted husband, father, “Pap”, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Redinger; brothers, Casimir and John; and sisters Helen, Anna, Sister Mary Liliose (Leona), Sister Mary Edith CSSF (Theresa), Marie, and Dolores.

She was a member of the Queen of the Rosary Parish and Ladies of Charity in Glassport and a graduate of Glassport High School. She was a past employee of Westinghouse Electric Corporation from 1943 to 1948 as a taper, Mica builder and assembler; and worked at the Purdy Dairy and the Pittsburgh Glass Company, Glassport plant as a secretary.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Queen of the Rosary Parish, 530 Michigan Avenue, Glassport, with Rev. Miroslaus Wojcicki as celebrant.

Funeral service and interment will be held following mass at 11:30 a.m. in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, 14679 State Route 30, Irwin, and luncheon to follow.

Jeff was a US Marine Veteran, serving in the first Desert Storm and was also in the Marine reserves for 20 years. He worked as a plumber for Newco in Scottdale and also enjoyed woodworking, especially cabinets and cupboards. He enjoyed skeet shooting, and car racing, but most of all loved his family. Jeff loved family reunions and was known for being a trouble maker, especially with water balloons at the reunions.

Terry spent all of his formative years in Clairton, beginning his education in the Clairton School System, before finishing in Detroit, under the guidance of his sister Janet.  He leaves to mourn his partner of over 23 years, Heather Drost.  From their union was born a son, Terrence Eugene Snow, Jr.   Terry also leaves behind his firstborn, Terrence Johnson, and a daughter-in-law, LaTisha.  He is the proud grandfather of their children: Laterrin, Terri, Tanija, Terriyah, and Tru, all of Detroit, MI.  One of ten (10) children, affectionately known as The Ten Tribes of Irma, Terry is the ninth child and fifth son. Ms. Sayles was born on October 1, 1953, in McKeesport, PA.  The daughter of the late Frank Sayles, and Evelyn Simms Sayles. Eunice was also preceded in death by her son Arthur Sayles in 2003.

She was a member of children's programming and women's ministry at the Salvation Army in McKeesport.  She was a loving mother who also worked hard caring for her family while creating and maintaining a happy home.

She was born in Glassport on May 22, 1926 to the late Frank and Martha Dworek. She is survived by her son Francis (Gina) Hvozdik, of Glassport, daughter, Theresa (Bernie) McAllister of Cincinnati Ohio, sisters Irene Orenak, of Irwin, Frances (Ed) Matias, of Glassport,  Martha Opfer, of Bethel Park, and brother Ted (Pauline) Dworek of Port Vue, grandchildren Jaison (Beth)  Kinser of Cincinnati OH, Jennifer (Brandon) DeVerse of Murfreesboro TN, Bernie McAllister, Adam (Nicole) McAllister, Rachael McAllister, all of Cincinnati OH, Ryan (Lori) Hvozdik of Glassport,  Jeremy Hvozdik of Lincoln Boro, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and caretakers sister Martha Opfer and niece Pat Garancsi.  Jean was preceded in death by her husband, the late George F. Hvozdik, and son James Hvozdik, as well four brothers, and two sisters. Jean was a former member of the Queen of The Rosary Church in Glassport, and worked as a cook and caterer for Joe Shemms Catering, in Braddock. Arrangements have been entrusted to E.C. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 235 Monongahela Ave., Pa. 15045. Mass will be held on Wednesday September 11th at John J. Kane Mckeesport at 11 am. Richard A. Humphries, 94 of McKeesport, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 29, 2019 in UPMC McKeesport. He was born April 4, 1925 the son of the late Alexander S. and Edith (Thompson) Humphries. He was preceded in death by brothers Rev. Roy Humphries and Dale B. Humphries Sr. and a sister Margaret Mackey. He is survived by a sister in law Estella M. Humphries and nieces and nephews. 

Richard was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army for two tours of duty. He was retired from the DoAll Company. Sergio Lazzaris, age 84 of Jefferson Hills, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family at home on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.  A dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, he was born October 14, 1934 in Northern Italy (Vallada, Agordina), the son of the late Libro and Henrietta (Fiocco) Lazzaris.  A skilled mason and member of the Union #9 Bricklayers, Sergio was a US Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Daniel Keffer Post #75 in Clairton.  He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 59 years, Elena (Marraccini) Lazzaris; his sons Dino Lazzaris of Clairton and Bruno (Diane) Lazzaris of Elizabeth Twp.; his grandchildren Vincent and Julia Lazzaris; his brother George (Franca) Lazzaris of Horsehead, NY; and his nieces and nephews.  Sergio loved sharing a meal with family and friends, fine woodworking and craftsmanship, hunting with his sons and grandchildren, and playing the accordion in the company of good friends.

Dreer, 92, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at UPMC East.  He was born, July 20, 1927 in McKeesport, a son of the late Webster and Pearl (Maurer) Dreer.  Prior to his retirement, Charles  was  employed by General Motors Fisher Body with over 30 years of dedicated service, and a veteran of the US Navy having served during WWII.  He was a member of Park Baptist Church, Versailles where he served on the Board of Deacons and Board of Trustees and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, McKeesport.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet  Clawson Dreer; son, Charles J. Dreer; daughters, Claudia O'Lear and Jodene Dreer; brothers, Ronald Dreer, Kenneth Summit and Bernard Summit.  He is survived by his son, William (Denise) Dreer; daughters, Beth (Carl) DeValkeneer, Brenda (Richard) Stinner; daughter-in-law, Joyce Dreer;  sister-in-law, Geraldine Dreer; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the James W. Pauline Perhacs passed away peacefully on Monday, September 2, 2019 at the age of 99. She lived a long, full life. She was very social and loved to laugh. When Pauline laughed, it was contagious and caused all who were near her to laugh, too. Born August 7, 1920 in Duquesne, she was the daughter of the late Pauline (Kukechuk) and Theodore (Frank) Dyakon, and stepdaughter of the late Andrew Krotovich. Pauline met her husband, John Perhacs, at 15 and they were married when she was 17 years old. She is survived by her brother, Andrew (Duke) Dyakon and three children, Alvin Perhacs (Betty Ann), Robert Perhacs (Marianne) and Paula Baumgart (Karl), as well as nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Perhacs; brothers John, George and Michael Dyakon; and sisters Ann Krivacek, Mary Brush and Teresa Lubinski. 

Pauline was a highly successful saleswoman in the field of ladies' lingerie. She won trips as rewards and even devised her own thank you incentive gifts for her customers. One of the rewards she earned was a trip to Florida where she had lunch with the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus Performers. 

In her spare time, Pauline enjoyed gardening, walking in her neighborhood and cooking pork chops, lasagna, pierogies and much more. Her cookies and pies were favorites among friends and family. Some of the most popular included coconut cream, peach, pumpkin, apple, and more.

Possessing a strong love of singing and dancing, Pauline went dancing every Saturday night with her husband. Pauline enjoyed movies and at times watched more than one a day. She even devised her own rating system that she would carry around in her purse and pull out to give people her opinion on the latest box office hits. One of her favorites was physical comedy.

He was a 50 year member of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America and was a member of the International Association of Machinist Potomac Air Lodge # 1976.  He was also a member of the former Boston Volunteer Fire Co, in Elizabeth Township. Steve serves as Democratic Committeeman for Summit Township, Conneaut Lake.
