William “Bill” James Dudik

William “Bill” James Dudik, 87, of McKeesport, PA died on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh after a sudden illness.

He was born in McKeesport on August 5, 1936 and was the son of the late Mike Dudik and Julia (Vojnyik) Dudik.

He was a 1954 graduate of McKeesport High School, then served in the US Air Force. Bill went on to receive a Bachelor of Science with a major in Psychology from The University of Pittsburgh, graduating in 1976.

Bill was a proprietor of a wholesale goods importing company, owned a sewing machine sales and repair shop, then also worked in sales at Tom Clark’s Used Autos. He was certified and elected as a Constable and also worked as a security guard. Bill was a life-long avid collector and seller of vintage and antique items.

Donna L. Shultz

Donna L. Shultz, 87, of Elizabeth, passed away Thursday morning, February 1, 2024 at the home of her nephew.

She was born November 1, 1936 in Charleroi, a daughter of the late John and Ella McCracken Shultz.

A 1955 graduate of Charleroi High School, Ms. Shultz received her bachelor of education from California University of Pennsylvania and a master’s of education from West Virginia University.

She retired from the Elizabeth Forward School District, where she was the Director of Elementary Education.

She was a member of the Elizabeth Forward Alumni and Friends Association, served as the association’s corresponding secretary and in 2001 received the Educator Recognition Award.

Mildred J. Bobuk, 65, of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14, 2024. She was born April 17, 1958 in McKeesport, the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Capner) Dvorsky. Mildred enjoyed cooking, and was an animal lover. She had a very caring personality and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children Jessica Bobuk (Joshua Pitz) of West Mifflin, Kendra (Andrew) Rosner of Delaware, Theodore “T. J.” (Kelsey) Bobuk of West Mifflin, and Nicholas Bobuk (fiancé Megan Seeman) of West Mifflin; grandchildren Madilyn Pitz, Connor Rosner, and Mackenzie Rosner; also nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Forgie-Snyder Funeral Home, 1032 Broadway Avenue, East McKeesport, 412-823-8083. Bruce Moore

Bruce Moore, 74, born December 5, 1949, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2023 in Tucson, Arizona after a lengthy illness. A native of White Oak, PA, Moore was the fourth child of Chester and Alice Moore.

Moore graduated from McKeesport Senior High School in McKeesport, PA and Milligan University in Johnson City, TN. He raised his two children in Thousand Oaks, CA with his former wife Linda Moore while working for United Parcel Service (UPS).  He married Nadine and relocated to Las Vegas, before retiring from UPS in 2010. Bruce was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers and college football fan, he loved his family, traveling, golf, playing poker, and drinking Miller Lite. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed making people laugh, and was liked by all who met him.

Winona Bintrim Olah

Winona Bintrim Olah, 91, formerly of McKeesport, Port Vue, North Huntingdon, and Vernon Township, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 25th, 2023, at Rolling Fields Elder Care in Conneautville, Pennsylvania.

She was born on May 30, 1932, in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She was the only daughter of Wilber Edward and Mabel Eliza Bintrim Porter. After having lived in several different Western Pennsylvania locations, she and her family settled in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. She graduated from McKeesport High School in 1950. After graduation, she began working for G.C. Murphy’s Company as a salesclerk in the local McKeesport store.

Winona eventually worked her way up to working as a bookkeeper in the Merchandise Control Office of the company’s headquarters, which was also located in McKeesport. She married her husband, Donald Endre’ Olah, in 1952, and they resided for a time in Port Vue, PA. In 1964 the family moved to North Huntingdon Township. Winona was very involved with church activities. She was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she served in many different leadership positions, including the Administrative Council and the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee. She was instrumental in many fundraising activities.

Robyn Lee McKee of South Park; age 65, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2023, loving daughter of Ruth McKee and the late James McKee; wife of the late Lee Miller; dear sister of Cheryl (Valerie Nicholson) McKee and Jeffrey (Kathleen) McKee; cherished aunt of Holly McKee, Justin (Jamie) McKee, Ryan (Stefanie Stanziano) McKee, Lauren (Blase Baker) McKee and Taylor (Eric) Bryant; great aunt of Hannah, Haley, Jacob, Aiden, Ally, the late Eric Michael and Matthew Alan; numerous cherished cousins; treasured friends, Corky, Karen, Sally, Jodie, Betsy, Dona and Dottie.

Robyn worked as a senior contract specialist with the Department of Energy for 37 years.  She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of South Park, and loved her Lord. Robyn was a creative, charismatic, comical, kind and caring soul who lit up a room when she entered.  The family would like to extend their heart felt and special thanks to the entire staff of  Whitetail Springs Memory Care Community in Whitehall, PA for their exceptional and loving care given to Robyn for the past 2 ½ years and to Commonwealth Hospice for the extraordinary and compassionate care of Robyn in her final days.

Iola Rebecca Claggett Morris

Mrs. Iola Rebecca Claggett Morris, 92, died Nov. 19, 2023.

She was born on February 19, 1931, in Duquesne, Pennsylvania. She is one of nine children and the youngest and only surviving child born to the late Thomas and Annie Kate Claggett.  She graduated from the Duquesne Public School.  She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ when she was 12 years old and was an active and devoted member of the Payne Chapel A.M.E. Church until she married the late Charles Morris of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania in 1950.  Upon her move to Aliquippa, she joined Ebenezer A.M.E. Church and became the proud mother of a daughter, the late Mary Ann Morris.

While growing up in Duquesne, Iola took piano lessons from Nancy Doggett and later served as a pianist for the Payne Chapel Sunday School, the Junior Choir, and the Gospel Chorus.  She was also active in the Missionary YPD and subsequently the Women’s Missionary Society (WMS).  At Ebenezer, she was the church musician, a stewardess, a WMS leader, and an official board member for more than 25 years. She was a Delegate on many occasions to the Pittsburgh Annual Conference WMS and attended several Quadrennial Conventions with her sisters Geneva and Ernestine. She and her daughter Mary Ann were loyal and active members of the Ebenezer Lay Organization.

Mrs. Morris was all about church, family, and community.  She worked for many years in the finance division of Pennsylvania State University.  Upon retirement from the University, she spent years in multiple capacities assisting the directors of the Duboise Carter Funeral Home, Thelma Gooden Funeral Home, and the Gooden Brown Funeral Home.

In 2009, Mrs. Morris moved her residence back to Duquesne and her church membership back to Payne Chapel.  She initiated the Duquesne Summit Senior Residence Bible Study and personally recruited Rev. Sam Chambers as the Bible Study teacher, a study group that continues to thrive today.  She also continued her support as a stewardess emeritus and a WMS emeritus at Payne Chapel. Iola appreciated all types of music, but her absolute favorite music is the hymns of the church.

Paul V. Ballas

Paul V. Ballas, 76, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2023. Paul was the youngest of five children, born in his childhood home in McKeesport, PA to Michael J. and Mary M. Ballas. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother Daniel M. Ballas and wife Henrietta, his brother Michael P. Ballas, and brother-in–law Charles C. McCutcheon.

He is survived by his wife Jean Nealen Ballas, brother John (Jack) V. Ballas and wife Rita, sister Mary E. McCutcheon, and sister-in-law Norma L. Ballas. Paul will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as the Nealen family.

Paul retired from Purchase Line HS after 35 years of teaching English. Paul was known to many as a friend due to his humorous nature and prolific storytelling, punctuated by his lighthearted demeanor. Ever the cook, Paul was known for his love of grilling and entertaining his family & friends.

He enjoyed all sports, particularly baseball, in which he participated enthusiastically as a player, coach, and fan. He will be remembered as a lover of traveling, beaches, desserts, wine, and the craft beer bottles he collected.  NA ZDRAVIE!

Daniel G. Donahoe

Daniel G. Donahoe, 53, of Dravosburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at his home.

Born December 17, 1969 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late George J. and A. Jane (Gleason) Donahoe.

Daniel was employed at Vision Benefits of America.  He enjoyed bowling, having bowled three 300 games, and softball, and was a great pitcher.  An avid Pittsburgh sports fan, he also enjoyed playing pinochle, and was a great handyman, always willing to lend a helping hand.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Wilson.

She was born October 21,1922 to Henry and Elizabeth (Volk) Uhrich in the Bryn Mawr section of White Oak, PA and graduated from McKeesport High School in 1940. Grace is survived by her son, Lyn and his wife Danee Hoover of Horse Shoe, NC, her daughter Christine Sutton of Deland, FL, granddaughters Tanya Shelton and her husband Mike Henriquez of Antioch, CA, Andrea (Dre) Sutton of New Orleans, LA and Victoria (Tori) Sutton of Charlotte, NC. There will be no services at Grace’s request. Arrangements were in care of Just 4 Cremation of Deland, Fla.

Geraldine (Gerry) L. Charmo

Geraldine (Gerry) L. Charmo, 92, of W. Homestead, PA passed away peacefully on May 24, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary Charmo of Duquesne and her sister Margaret and brother Bob. Gerry enjoyed life and participated in many women's organizations such as the Red Hat Ladies, Duquesne Women's Club and served as an officer of the Christian Mothers of Holy Trinity Church. Gerry is survived by her nephews and nieces: Ron and Carol, Bob and Susan, Margie and Dave, Cyndy and Anita, Tim and Debra and Joyce as well as great nephews and nieces.

Dennis Rosenberger

Dennis Rosenberger, 75, of Hanover Park, Ill., left us March 26, 2023. In addition to his adored wife, Eleanor, with whom he would have celebrated his 55th anniversary this fall, he is survived by his daughters, Janice Rosenberger and Nancy (Jose) Gutierrez; granddaughters Elizabeth (James) Hurlbut, Lisa and Heidi Gutierrez, and Great-Grandsons, James and Oscar Hurlbut. He also leaves behind his loving Sister, Karen Miller, and many Cousins. Born and raised in McKeesport, Dennis moved to Illinois in 1970 with his wife. He worked in the steel industry at various levels from beginning to end, retiring in 2020. As requested by him, no funeral or memorial will be held, and interment of his cremains will be private. If you would like to honor his memory, donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. Arrangements were in the care of Grove Memorial Chapel, Elk Grove Village, Ill.
