Charles Phillip Moon, age 59, of Versailles, PA, died on Friday, October 21, 2022. He was born in Los Angeles, CA on July 13, 1963 and is the son of the late Richard and Fannie Norton Moon. Charles proudly served in the United States Army and was employed as a combat engineer. He was a member of the Port Vue American Legion Post 447 and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.

John Robert Sims, Jr., age 76, of White Oak, died on Monday, October 17, 2022. He was born in Pittsburgh on December 21, 1945 and is the son of the late John Robert, Sr. and Gay Marie Hessenmueller Sims. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was stationed on the same submarine that is at the Carnegie Science Center. After serving in the military, John was employed at the Hilton in downtown Pittsburgh, he worked in sales for many years, He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a masters in sociology. He then taught at various colleges throughout the area including the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Duquesne, La Roche University, and the Community College of Allegheny County. In 1998 he founded the Single and Custodial Father’s Network and continued there until its closing when he retired in 2005. He provided help to many, many people throughout the years.

Joseph Michael Pellecchia, age 57, of Liberty Boro, PA, died on Sunday, October 16, 2022. He was born in Cheverly, Maryland on July 18, 1965 and is the son of Doreen Lucas Hornfeck of West Mifflin and the late Pietro Pellecchia. Joseph proudly served in the United States Airforce and was stationed in Germany from 1984 to 1988. After his service in the military, Joseph was most recently employed at Mon Yough Community Services as a crew chief, where he worked with mentally disabled adults.

She retired as the manager at the previous Lindsley Personal Care Home in McKeesport.

Michael Julius “Boe” Kleya, age 62, of Monroeville, PA, died on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. He was born in Russellton, PA on January 10, 1960 and is the son of the late Julius and Helen Przybyla Kleya. He was employed as an engineer at ABB in Natrona Heights, Westinghouse in Cranberry, and the Elliott Group in Jeannette. Michael was a member of the Elliott Group Golf League and loved to coach Monroeville’s youth baseball, basketball, and soccer teams.

Ronald Wayne Corman, age 81, of Fort Myers, FL, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. He was born in McKeesport, PA on July 4, 1941 and is the son of the late Harry O. and Martha Louise Hunter Corman. He graduated from Duquesne High School and attended Waynesburg University and the University of Pittsburgh. Ronald proudly served in the United States Army and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal as a Sharpshooter. After serving in the United States Army, he retired from CSX after 32 years as a Locomotive Engineer. He was a member of numerous organizations including, the General Smedley D. Butler Post 701 White Oak American Legion; Braddock Elks Lodge No. 883; Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania Infinity Lodge No. 546 in Penn Hills; Shriners International; Moose General Assembly Lodge No. 3000; Boston Vets Club; GBU in Duquesne; and the McKeesport Sportsmen’s Association.

Joseph Stephen Szalko, Jr., age 71, of Port Vue, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. He was born in McKeesport on October 27, 1950 and is the son of the late Joseph Stephen, Sr. and Katherine Lytle Szalko. He was a 1969 graduate of Duquesne High School and was employed at US Steel, Edgar Thompson Plant, in their railroad division. Joseph was very good in baseball in his younger years and played semi pro for the Zemps. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards and coins, and watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates. He also loved animals and especially his cat, Charlie.

Mary Jane Dewyer, age 93, of White Oak, died on Thursday, September 29, 2022. She was born in McKeesport on January 30, 1929 and is the daughter of the late Albert Spear and Hazel Schoeller Cox and the wife of the late Robert W. Dewyer. She graduated from McKeesport High School and attended business college in McKeesport. She was employed as a secretary at USX Edgar Thompson Works for almost 35 years and also employed at USX Homestead Works and Christy Park Works for some time. She was a member of the First Christian Church in McKeesport and the Order of the Eastern Star.

He proudly served in the United States Airforce during World War II and for many years after the war.
