Eleanor (Altman) Daily, 94, of Hunker, died February 10, 2017 at home. She was born September 19, 1922 in North Huntingdon, a daughter of the late Samuel Edward and Hazel (Hawk) Altman and was also preceded in death by her husband Arthur Douglas Daily, a son in law George McKeta, and siblings James Altman, Clara Gardner, and Frank Altman. She was a member of Middle Presbyterian Church, Mount Pleasant. She is survived by her children Linda Fern (John) Benford of Washington, Arthur W. (Paula) Daily of Greensburg, Judith E. McKeta and Esther L. (John) Blizman both of Hunker; grandchildren Evelyn (Greg) Kover, John (Reanna) Benford, Stewart (Jenna) Benford, Barbara (Ed) Henderson, Nicole (Carl) Collins, Sarah (Kirk) Salopek, John A. (Jen) Blizman, and Adam J. (Anna) Blizman; great grandchildren Ashley, Alex, Adam, John, Oscar, Sophia, Caroline, Revel, Isaak, Tanner, Gavin, Zachary, Sydney, Adam, and Avery; a sister Emma Dunmire of Apollo; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Elaine (West) Shirey, 78, of North Huntingdon, peacefully went to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 11. She spent the last weeks of her life in her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born in her home on December 13, 1938 in Dayton, Pa, a loving daughter of the late Harold and Alverda (Schrecengost) West. A devoted follower of Christ, Elaine shared her God-given gifts of love and music in every area of her life. She was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Harrison City where she sang in the choir, one of the many choirs in which she sang throughout her life.

William R. “Bill” Matta, 89 of McKeesport died at home Monday January 30, 2017. He was born July 7, 1927 in McKeesport, a son of the late Michael and Katherine Oakley Matta and was also preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy Veronick Matta and a brother Joseph Matta. Bill was a Navy veteran and was a foreman for USX Maintenance Division for over thirty years. Bill loved his family, enjoyed fishing, and will be missed by his cats, Wilber, Chick, and Matty. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl and their daughter Samantha; his children with his first wife, Debbie Simonetta and her husband James of Irwin and William R. Matta Jr. and his wife Susan of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; his granddaughter, Carly Simonetta; his great granddaughter, Isabella Kettering; and a sister, Patricia Kiss of McKeesport. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday the William Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 521 Main Street, Irwin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 308 Second St., Irwin, with Father John Moineau, officiating. Those attending the Mass please go directly to the church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, North Versailles.
