Lawrence D. Dworek Sr.

Lawrence D. Dworek Sr., AKA, Paps, 100, of Margate, FL, formerly of Liberty Borough, passed away peacefully Nov. 27, 2023.  He is the son of the late Joseph and Mary Dworek and beloved husband of the late Helen Dworek.  He is survived by his son Lawrence Dworek, Jr.; granddaughters Natalie Blotzer, and Noreen Schacht; grandson in law, Naz Lothan; great grandchildren Ashley, Alexia, Nicolas, Justin, and Emalee; great-great grandson Samuel; brother Fred Dworek; sister Donna Mularski; as well as lots of nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon Blotzer and granddaughter Nicole Magnus. Lawrence was retired from Copperweld, was a member of St. Joachim & Anne Parish, and served in the US Army. 
Lawrence had a long, beautiful life surrounded by family and friends. He was loved and cherished by his family and friends. He had a zest for life and loved to go out for car rides to the beach, and play bingo. He enjoyed having family and friends over. He was the sweetest man ever and will be missed immensely.
Friends will be received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Mon. from 11 to 2 pm, at which time a funeral mass will be held at St. Mark’s Church in Liberty Borough.  Interment will take place Tues. at 10:00 am at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville with full military honors.

Mary M. McLinden, 90, died Saturday November 25, 2023. She is the daughter of the late Stanley and Margaret (Lewis) Pruszko. She is survived by her daughter Deborah McLinden; son Hugh J. McLinden III; grandchildren Michael and Colleen McLinden; sister Helen Gouker; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Stanley Pruszko. Gloria A. Glagola, 89, of Glassport, died Oct. 31, 2023.  She is the daughter of the late John and Anna Marie Canelle and beloved wife of the late Joseph Glagola.  She is survived by her son Paul (Donna) Glagola; grandchildren Samantha (Douglas) Nicholas and Dr. Cameron (Caitlin) Glagola; great grandchildren Connor and Cole Nicholas and Cooper Glagola; sisters Bevelry Liberty and Patty Ancarana.  Gloria was a member of St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Church.  Friends received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Sun. from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7.  A funeral blessing will be held Mon. at 10:00 am in the funeral home with Father Dimitri Ermakov.  Interment following Grandview Cemetery, North Versailles.

Joanne Barone, 76, of Glassport died peacefully with her family by her side on Oct. 28, 2023.  She is the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Schneltzer and beloved wife of Richard Barone.  She is survived by her daughters Tracy (Mark) Stecak and Shelly (Scott) Bucar; son Richard Barone; grandchildren Gia Barone, Missy and Michael Snyir and Marc and Nicolas Stecak.  She was preceded in death by her sister Vicky Schneltzer.  Friends will be received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Wed. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8.

 


Raymond D. Graboski

 Raymond D. Graboski, 91 of Glassport died Oct. 22, 2023.  He is the son of the late Michael and Mary (Wise) Graboski and  beloved husband, of 66 years, of Dorothy (Kwiatkowski) Graboski.  He is survived by his daughters Lynn (Robert) Barnes and Laurie (Jack Goblick) Graboski; grandsons Robert (Katie) Barnes and Michael Barnes; great grandchildren Roman and Elia Barnes; also nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his son Raymond Graboski and siblings Emily Wisneski, Al Graboski, Anthony Graboski, Loretta Bodenschatz and Regis Graboski.  Ray was a member of St. Joachim & Anne Parish,  St. Vincent DePaul Society and served in the US Army Korean War.  He was a PGA golf professional at Mon Valley Country Club for 35 years and after retiring worked with Pittsburgh Youth Golf Foundation.  Friends received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Fri. from 9 to 10 am, at which time a funeral mass will be held at Queen of the Rosary Church.  Interment following Round Hill Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to either Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Ave., Pittsburgh Pa 15212 or The Intersection, Inc., P.O. Eleanor Mazurkiewicz

Eleanor Mazurkiewicz, 90, joined her Parents Stanley and Mary (Sopko) Mazurkiewicz and her brothers Stanley, Edward, Theodore and John Mazurkiewicz and sisters Helen Balaban, Josephine Mazurkiewicz and Irene Spisak in Paradise on October 15, 2023.   She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Eleanor was a retired clerk for Thorofare Market and a member of St. Joachim & Anne Parish.  Family was everything to her and she loved being included in all get togethers whether Holidays or just being together.  She always was willing to contribute either by cooking or baking cookies, cakes or pies.   Friends will be received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Thurs. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.  A funeral mass will be held Fri. 10:00 am at Queen of the Rosary Church.  Interment following St. Mary's Polish Cemetery.

Schmotzer, Sr., 86 of Glassport died Oct. 15, 2023.  He is the son of the late William and Stella (Sypniewski) Schmotzer.  He is survived by his beloved wife Carole (Robinson) Schmotzer; son William (Susan) Schmotzer, Jr.; daughter Cheryl Fries; granddaughter Stephanie (Matt) Johnson; grandsons William (Kiersten) Schmotzer and Warren Schmotzer. Carol A. Kennedy

  Carol A. Kennedy, age 79, formerly of Glassport, Pennsylvania, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Carrington Place of Botetourt following a period of declining health. Carol was born August 6, 1944 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and lived most of her life in Glassport, Pennsylvania before moving to Daleville in 2018. She was the daughter of the late Edward P. and Vera Sabolic Katchmark. Carol was very active at her parish of Queen of the Rosary Catholic Church where she participated in all fund raisers and making haluski. Food was her language of love and she enjoyed hosting Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins parties. Carol enjoyed decorating for each season and holiday. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Anna Sabolic and uncle, Albert Sabolic. Carol is survived by her daughter, Keri (William) Gerstemeier of Daleville; grandsons: Samuel (Emma) Gerstemeier and Ryan Gerstemeier; sisters: Judi (Dave) Bonadio of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Melanie Zwicker of Boulder, Colorado. A funeral mass celebrating Carol’s life will be 10:30 AM Saturday, October 14 at Queen of the Rosary Parish, 530 Michigan Avenue, Glassport, Pennsylvania with burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends 8-10 AM Saturday, October 14 at Wojciechowski Funeral Home, 640 Vermont Avenue, Glassport, PA 15045. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, Attention: Development, 2408 Electric Road, Roanoke, Virginia 24018.

Virginia M. Como, 98 of Liberty Borough, died Sept. 26, 2023.  She is the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Burke) Meisl and beloved wife of the late Arthur Como.  Virginia is survived by her daughters Dee (Andrew) Golembiewski and Anita Lepley;  daughter in law Sandi Como; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and her dear cat Precious. She was preceded in death by her sons Deacon Gerard Como and Mark Como; daughter Roseanne Slafka; grandchildren Kevin Golembiewski and Aaron Slafka; granddaughter in law Trish Como and brother Frank Meisl.  Virginia was a member of St. Joachim and Anne Parish; past president of Christian Mothers of St. Cecilia's Church and a member of the Glassport Bowling League.  Friends received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport Thurs. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8.  A funeral mass will be held Fri. 10:00 am at St. Eugene Church with Father John Civille.  Interment following at Round Hill Cemetery.  We would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for the loving care they gave to our mom as well as her aide Brittany.

 


Frances Evelyn Matias

Frances Evelyn Matias, 95, of Glassport, died Sept. 21, 2023.  She is the daughter of the late Frank and Martha (Mikulski) Dworek and beloved wife, for 68 years, of the late Edward Matias who died Dec. 23, 2020.  Frances is survived by her sons Robert (Susan) Matias and Anthony (Terry) Matias; daughter Linda (Mark) Matias; grandchildren Eric (Kristen) Matias, Benjamin Matias and Michelle (Mike) Banaszak; great grandchildren Samuel and Alexander Matias and Bradley and Brianna Banaszak sister Martha Opfer and brother Theodore (Pauline) Dworek.  She was preceded in death by granddaughter Valerie Matias; siblings Irene Orenak (who recently passed at the age of 105 on June 12, 2023), Dorothy Vesely, Anthony Dworek, Frank Dworek, Pearl White, Jean Hvozdik, Paul Dworek and Raymond Dworek.  She worked at the Glassport Glasshouse after high school for a few years.  After getting married, she become devoted to her family.  Cooking and baking were her specialties.  Family favorites included pierogis, pizzelles, ladylocks and homemade noodles.  She loved bingo, playing cards (Timeout), sewing clothes, spending time with her sisters, and especially going to church.  Frances was a member of St. Joachim & Anne Parish.  Friends received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home on Mon. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8.  A funeral mass will be held Tues. 10:00 am at Queen of the Rosary Church with Father Miroslaus Wojcicki.  Interment following Round Hill Cemetery.

 


Regina "Jean" L. Humenik

  Regina "Jean" L. Humenik, 80, of Buena Vista, died Aug. 23, 2023.  She is the daughter of the late Stephen and Helen (Klimek) Vranka and beloved wife of the late Ernest Humenik.  She is survived by her sons Paul (Beth) Humenik, Mark Humenik, Greg (Kelly) Humenik and E. Robert (Jessica) Humenik; grandchildren Dylan (Brooke), Katherine, Hunter, Jackie, Ryan and Gabby; brother Ronald (the late Sandy) Vranka; sister-in-law Jane Muldowney; also nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brother John Vranka.  Jean was a kind and generous mother and grandmother and her family meant everything to her.  She never complained and always had a smile on her face.  Jean was a member of St. Joachim & Anne Parish (St. Michael's Church).  Friends received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Fri. from 3 to 8.  A funeral blessing will be held on Sat. at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Deacon John Ragan.  Interment following Round Hill Cemetery.  Memorial donations, in Jean's memory, may be made to Miracle League of Western Pa (mlwpa.org), where her granddaughter Jackie plays baseball, 4530 William Penn Highway, No. 198, Murrysville Pa 15668.

Frances "Frankie" R. Nosich, 82, of North Huntingdon, died July 29, 2023.  She is the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Labon) Vach and beloved wife of the late Layne J. Nosich.  She is survived by her sons Steven Nosich and David (Kristie) Nosich; grandchildren Nathan and Tayne; sister Martha Yablonsky; sister-in-law Mary Kay Vach; also nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brother Anthony Vach.  Frankie was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church and a former member of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church; member of Christian Mothers; Homestead School of Nursing Alumni; AARP and volunteered for Meals on  Wheels.  Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Tues. from 5 to 7.  A funeral mass will be held Wed. 9:30 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.  Entombment following New St. Joseph Cemetery.

Willis Korenoski, 95, of Glassport died July 28, 2023.  He is the son of the late John and Anna Korenoski.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years,   Helen (Dzurenda) Korenoski; children Mary Ann Ross, Peggy Korenoski, Debbie (Ron) DeMay, Bill (Janice) Korenoski and Patty Korenoski; grandchildren Kristin (Steve), Justin (Katie), Danielle (John), Chelsea (Nick), Luke (Lexi)and Lexi (Donald); great grandchildren Elliana and Madison.  He was preceded in death by siblings John (Rose), Mike (Ann), Mary (Mike), Frances and Pete (Pearl).  He was a retired machinist for B & O Railroad for 41 years.  Willis was a member of St. Joachim & Anne Parish; a former usher and a member of the American Legion.  Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Wed. from 2-4 and 6-8.  A funeral mass will be held Thurs. 10:00 am  at St. Michael's Church with Father Tom Wagner.  Interment following Calvary Cemetery, Port Vue.

 


Patricia (Ejchost) DiMarco

Patricia Ejchost DiMarco of Whitehall passed away peacefully on July 24, 2023, at age 87. She is survived by her son, Rev. Anthony J. DiMarco of New London, CT; her daughter, Susan Hartman of Whitehall; and her sisters Rita Cross, Elaine (James) Sydeski, and Nancy (James) Feltz. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Keri, Jordan and Marshall Hartman as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Fiore DiMarco; her parents, Stanley and Nellie Ejchost; her sister Evelyn Podkul; and her brothers-in-law Walter Cross and Walter Podkul. Patricia was born in Glassport, graduated from Glassport High School, and retired from the federal government. A true trailblazer, she completed a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh while working full-time and between raising her children and grandchildren. Yet most importantly, she was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter and friend and one of five matriarchs of her large, tight-knit Polish-American family. She gave widely and generously of her love, her cooking, her wit, her wisdom, and her nurturing spirit. Her life was a blessing to us all, and her passing will leave a large hole in our hearts. We are especially grateful to Doctors Salman Fazal and Amjad Jalil, and to Amber Bussard and the rest of the AHN staff for their patient attention to her health and welfare and for ensuring her comfort in her final days.  Friends recieved at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Thursday from 8:30 am to 9:30 am.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on July 27 at 10 a.m. at Saints Joachim and Anne, Queen of the Rosary church by her son, Rev. Anthony DiMarco, with burial to follow at New St. Joseph's Cemetery, North Versailles. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
