Harold "Buzz" Phillips

Harold N. "Buzz" Phillips, Jr., 64 of Glassport, died March 30, 2018.  He is the son of the late Harold and Donaldeen (Beitler) Phillips, Sr.  He is survived by his beloved wife Louise Phillips; sons Brian Phillips and Jim (Lisa) Phillips; grandchildren Jim Phillips, Jr, Alex, Ben and Elizabeth and sister Sheryl Perozich; also nieces and nephews. Buzz worked at National Tubes for 13 years and then Kane Regional Center.  Buzz was a member of Port Vue Athletic Association and church council at Queen of the Rosary.  He was also very active in Glassport and South Allegheny's football, basketball and baseball programs where he coached for many years.  Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport, Mon. 2-8.  A funeral mass will be held Tues 1:00 pm at St. Mark's Liberty Boro with Father Daniel Straughn.  Interment following New St. Joseph Cemetery.

LEONARD HORNFECK, Age 80, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 29, 2018. Beloved Son of the Leonard and Virginia Hornfeck; Beloved Brother of Diane, the late Barbara Reilly, Joan and Linda; Beloved Father of Cindy Hornfeck, Susan Yesensky the late Michael Hornfeck, Lee Hornfeck, Melissa Borrelli and Lane Mills; Beloved Grandfather of Natalie Brown, Timothy Yesensky, Kelsey Mutkus, Josh Turner Joseph, Justin and Jessie Borrelli, and Jack, Asher and Sloane Mills.  Retiree of United States Steel – Irvin Works.  Known as Rizzo, he loved to play softball, watch Steelers games, drink just one glass of Stroh’s (at each place he went), and listen to classic oldies, particularly Creedence Clearwater Revival.  Visitation will be held Mon. from 4-8 at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home.  A funeral blessing will be held Tues. 10:00 am at the funeral home with Father Miroslaus Wojcicki.  Interment following Jefferson Memorial Park.

Green, 83 of Liberty Borough, died March 23, 2018.  He is the son of the late William and Elsie Green.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda (Przywarty) Green; daughter Darla (Anthony) Trunzo; son William C. Carl S. "Skip" Mowry, Sr., 76 of West Mifflin, formerly of Duquesne, died March 14, 2018.  He is the son of the late Victor E. and Sylvia J. (Miller) Mowry.  Carl is survived by his ex wife and constant companion, Norma (Burgman) Mowry; children Christine A. Mowry, Carl S. (Theresa White) Mowry, Jr. and Shari (Willie) Mowry Williams; sister Clara P. Fady; brother Ronald J. Mowry; sister-in-law Marjorie Mowry;  pap to 9 grandchildren; pap pap to 9 great grandchildren; also nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard P. Mowry and mother-in-law Ruth F. Lloyd.  Carl was retired from US Steel and as head of gate security for Kennywood Park.  He was a member of St. John Mark Lutheran Church; US Steelworkers Union; Moose; Kennywood Police and served in the US Navy.  Carl was also a boy scout leader for many years.  Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne, Tues. 2-8.  A private funeral service will be held Wed. in the funeral home. 

 


Theresa (Uziel) Kuzio

Theresa (Uziel) Kuzio, of Virginia Beach, VA, formerly of Glassport, died March 7, 2018 in Franklin, MA.  She is the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Raszewski) Uziel.  Beloved wife of the late Joseph W. Kuzio., whom she married on July 1, 1950 at Holy Cross Church.  She is survived by son Mark Kuzio of Belfast, ME, daughter Mary Anne Lindner of Virginia Beach, VA and son Neil Kuzio of Franklin, MA;  8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; brothers Stanley Uziel of Glassport, Eugene Uziel of Monroeville and sister-in-law Dolores Nizanty of Hollywood FL.  Her brother Valentine Uziel and  wife Irene were a special part of Theresa and Joe's life, sharing many special moments over the years.  Theresa will be remembered as a loving, dedicated mother and wife,  her great fortitude through difficult times and teaching her children many valuable life skills through example of "where there's a will, there's a way."  Always greeting family and friends alike with a warm smile, she will be remembered for her optimism and supportive nature.  We will always be grateful and will keep her in our hearts. Steve Deliman, 85 of Belle Vernon, formerly of Glassport, died March 12, 2018.  He is the son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Bartko) Deliman. Beloved husband of the late Barbara (Shimrak) Deliman.  He is survived by his children Steve Deliman, Patricia Deliman and John (Heather) Deliman; also 8 grandchildren. Steve was a member of the Church of St. Ann; the longest standing member of the Glassport American Legion and served in the US AirForce.  Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport, Wed. 2-4 and 6-8.  A funeral mass will be held Thurs. 11:00 am at the Church of St. Anne, Rostraver with Rev. Alice Mary (Rodriguez-Gutierrez) Boyd

Alice Mary (Rodriguez-Gutierrez) Boyd of Middleboro died peacefully on February 19, 2018.  She was 90.

She was born on September 1, 1927 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Jesus Gutierrez and Concepcion Rodriguez-Gutierrez.  Prior to her retirement, Alice worked for many years as an electronics assembler at the Westinghouse Electric Corporation.  She was a member of the Mexican/American Club in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and numerous Catholic organizations.  A devout Catholic, she treasured her faith and family. 

Former wife of the late John Gilbert Boyd, Sr.  Devoted mother of Veronica L. Gasdick of Pennsylvania, Kathleen F. Boyd of Massachusetts, Arthur F. Boyd of Texas and the late John Gilbert Boyd, Jr. Loving sister of Arthur J. and William Gutierrez, Julia Kowalski, the late Pedro Gutierrez, Jenny Boyko and Joseph Gutierrez.  Also survived by cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families. 

A memorial service will be held on Friday (March 2, 2018) at 6:30 PM in the Onset Foursquare Church, 301 Onset Avenue, Onset. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday (March 10, 2018) at 9:30 AM in Queen of The Rosary Church, 530 Michigan Avenue, Glassport, Pennsylvania.

Interment will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.

Sylvina “Vina” J. March, 81, of Glassport died Saturday February 17, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Alvin and Hazel Murray. Vina is survived by her children Jamie (Paul) Trunzo of Glassport, PA, Sharon (Karen) Miller of Lexington, TN, and John (Susan) Miller of Waterford, PA; sister Martha Miller of Waterford, PA; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband James R. March, and siblings Alma Gur, James Murray, Gene Murray, and Jack Murray. She enjoyed spending time in Bedford, casino trips, bingo, and she was an active participant in her community. Her proudest accomplishment was the revitalization of the Glassport Senior Center. She was a social member of the Glassport Sons of Italy, Chair of Trustees of Glassport United Methodist Church, Director of Glassport Senior Citizen Center, and owner of the former Vina’s Cleaners in Glassport. Friends will be received Monday from 2-8pm at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport. A blessing will be held at the funeral home Tuesday morning 10am with Pastor Hal Dangel, interment following Round Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Glassport Senior Citizens Center.

Zupi, 94, of Glassport, died Feb. 4, 2018.  He is the son of the late Gasper and Catherine (Tavalaro) Zupi and beloved husband of the late Esther (Mischi) Zupi.  He is survived by his sons David Zupi and Vincent Zupi; brother Frank Zupi and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by sisters Angeline Rossi, Anna Marie Zupi and Domenica Consoli.  Carl was retired from Copperweld; member of Queen of the Rosary Parish, where he was an usher, Holy Name Society, Sons of Italy, Americal Legion and the Lions Club, where he was president for 3 years.  A private funeral service was held at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.  Funeral arrangements by Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport.

Sandra (Sandy) Tison of West Mifflin passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018.  She was born in McKeesport on August 21, 1954, daughter of the late Bernard Tison and late Rita Furlong.  She was predeceased in death by her niece and godchild, Carrie Ann Gross and her step-mother Patricia Tison and step-sister Debra Oskin.  She is survived by her sister Pattie (Charles) Gross, nephews Charles (Denise) Gross, Michael (Kara) Gross and Scott Gross; also 2 great nieces and 1 great nephew; step-brothers Keith Daugherty and Kenneth Daugherty, many cousins and step-nephews.  She was previously employed by U.S. Steel Duquesne Works and was a Market Research Interviewer at Waraback Research for 21 years.  She also worked at Riverside Nursing Center.  But the job she loved the most was being a caretaker for the elderly in their homes.  Family and friends will be received at Wojciechowski Funeral Home in Glassport on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10 am at Queen of the Rosary Church.  Interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery in Port Vue.  In lieu of flowers, please request Masses for Sandy via Seraphic Mass Association @ 412-683-4700.
