Norman J. Vargo, 85, of North Huntingdon passed away peacefully on Friday, May 3, 2019 after an amazing life that saw him go from the rugged Steel Valley to various places around the world. Born in Munhall on March 23, 1934, he was the doting husband of 61 years to his sweetheart Audrey (Cawley) Vargo and the loving father of Mark (Sharon) Vargo, of North Huntingdon; Michael (Brian) Vargo, of Mt. Joy; Sandee Vargo, of North Huntingdon and Gary (Taryn) Vargo, of Irwin. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren Christopher (Tiffany) Vargo, of North Huntingdon; Sean (Erin) Vargo, of North Versailles and Tennyson Vargo of Irwin.
 
Stormin’ Norman, as he is known both locally and nationally, was the Sports Editor of The McKeesport Daily News covering six Super Bowls, two world series, four MLB All-Star Games, three NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, two US Opens, three world championship boxing matches, Pitt’s incredible run to the 1976 National Championship, the 1980 Olympic Games in Lake Placid, and countless local and scholastic sporting events.

Helen Brulja, age 92 of McKeesport, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 in Southwestern Assisted Care Center in West Mifflin.  Born December 1, 1926 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Ljubic) Brulja.  A member of St. Mark's Parish in Port Vue, Helen worked as a clerk for the Westinghouse Corp., was a member of the CFU Lodge #146 and it's Ladies' and Pensioneers' Clubs, and was also an original member of the Penn-Sembles.  She is survived by nieces and nephews, but was preceded in death by her siblings: Kathern Brulja, Frances Sopko, Ann Bastasic, Mary Sipkovich, and Matt, Bruce, and William Brulja.  Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, 4504 Walnut Street, Versailles, on Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019 at 10 AM in St. Mark's Parish, Port Vue Site.  Interment will follow to Sacred Heart Cemetery, Port Vue. Marlene Unrath, 86, of Pleasant Hills, passed away at ManorCare Nursing Home on April 30, 2019.  She was born January 16, 1933, to the late Michael and Mary Repko Visokey.  Marlene is survived by her daughter; Lori Ann Bagley of Pleasant Hills, sons; Patrick “Sonny” (Jane Bowen) Unrath of Port Vue, and Darrell (Laurie) Unrath of Forward Township, grandchildren; Dylan (Helen) Unrath, Michael (Ashley) Unrath, Ryan (Sarah) Cunning, Jesse and Willie, great grandchildren; Ryan Jr., and Nathaniel and many nieces and nephews.  Marlene was preceded in death by her husband William P. Unrath Sr. of 61 years, sons; Gregory, Douglas and William Jr. Unrath, and daughter in law, Marcia Unrath.  She was a parishioner of St. Thomas A Becket church, and a nurse anesthetist.  Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 3, 2019, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at S.M. Carol Ann Lasich, age 79 of Clairton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2019.  Born November 19, 1939 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Carmine and Mildred (Vuksic) Rodino.  A graduate of Clairton High School and a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, Carol's family will remember her as the kindest, gentlest woman and an amazing mother, a fantastic grandmother to her granddaughter, but "GiGi" to many more.  Besides her parents, she joins her husband of 46 years, Robert M. Lasich, who passed away July 2, 2011.  Carol is survived by her children Lori Lasich of Rostraver Twp. and Robert (fiancee Kate E. Dadum) Lasich of Clairton; her granddaughter Isabella Patch; her sister Irene Plesniak of Elizabeth; and also nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
