Charles James Derkas, age 83 of Versailles, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018 in Monroeville Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. Born January 19, 1935 in Versailles, he was a son of the late Charles James and Julia A. (Mallak) Derkas. A former carpet installer for Ruben's Furniture Company in McKeesport who also worked as a warehouseman for Mead Paper Company, Charles was a member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Christy Park and a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War.

Arliss Joyce Harper, age 78, of Glassport, died Wednesday, April 18, 2018. She was born in McKeesport on February 26, 1940. She is the daughter of the late Kenneth and the late Mary Grace Evans Jones. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Lewandosky, John Fasiska, and James H. Harper, Jr.
Arliss was employed at the Amvets in McKeesport for several years.
She is survived by her children, Tammy Lynn (Thurman D.) Smith of Canyon Lake, Texas, Daniel (Evelyn) Lewandosky of Sutersville, John (Christine) Fasiska of Boynton Beach, Florida and Kelly (Rod) Brinker of Rillton; grandchildren, Monique Semian, Malory Bailey, Ryan Fasiska and Derek Fasiska; great-grandchildren, Haley, Miranda, Ethan, Haley, Nolan, Alex and Conor; brothers, Kenneth Jones, Terrance and Andrew Dzvonick. She is preceded in death by Ronald, Charles and Robert Jones, Dolores Kooy, Arlene Lay, and Darrell Dzvonick. A special thank you to her doctors, David Harinstein, Kevin Kane, Susan Rakfal and Family Hospice & Palliative Care; and also for their wonderful care, Andrew “Buddy” and Debra Dzvonick.

It is with sadness in their hearts that the family of Donald Hickman announces his passing, and entrance into eternal life on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was a devoted, caring, and dedicated family man and will be deeply missed by his loved ones. He was born in Dravosburg on December 4, 1930 to the late Adam and Myra Leadbeater Hickman. Donald will be greatly missed by his loving wife, of 67 wonderful years, Mary Lou; children, Daniel Hickman, Patty (Gerald) Tedesco, Karen (Bryan) Snodgrass; grandchildren, Gerald (Kristen) Tedesco Jr., Jonathan (Robyn) Tedesco, Jamie (William) Dugas, Kylie Snodgrass, Alyssa Snodgrass, Jacob Snodgrass; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Tristan, Marisa, Dominic and Isabella, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his parents, Donald was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 1 sister. Donald was a lifelong resident of Dravosburg, and a graduate of McKeesport High School. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict, was retired from US Steel Research Lab in Monroeville in 1984, and owned and operated the distributorship for the McKeesport Daily News and Pittsburgh Press in Dravosburg for 40 years. Don was a devout Christian his entire life, leading many people to understand God’s love for them. He was an accomplished baseball pitcher for McKeesport High School, many local sandlot teams, and Mitchell Air Force Base. In 1953, he was offered to try-out for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The family is especially grateful for the exceptional kindness, concern and care from all of his caregivers, especially Caitlin Sostaric and Alexa Paranzino, his primary caregivers. Visitation will take place Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 1 – 8 pm at I. M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 203 4th Street, Dravosburg, PA 15034. A memorial service will take place on Monday April 23, 2018 at Amity Presbyterian Church in Dravosburg at 11:00 am followed by interment at Richland Cemetery. Rocco “Rocky” R. Tedesco, 94 of McKeesport, PA passed away on April 17, 2018 in Meadville, PA. He was born on January 22, 1924 in Fayette County, PA son of the late Frank Tedesco and Anna Marie (DiPierro) Tedesco. Rocco married Dorothy H. Schmipf on March 1, 1947. She preceded him in death on July 11, 2008. Rocco served in the Army as part of the Blackhawk Division. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon with a Bronze Star, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon and a Victory Medal. Rocco was the owner and operator of Cannon-Tedesco Concrete. He enjoyed neighborhood activities, flower gardens and helping others in his community.

She loved being home and helping her mom and dad and enjoyed listening to the music of her time. She was also an avid bird enthusiast. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Zoscak of Monroeville, brother, Richard (Rita) Kolesar of East McKeesport, nieces, nephews and cousins.
