Jean (Berkovitz) Falce

Jean (Berkovitz) Falce, 91, formerly of North Versailles. She spent the last nine years living with her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. Jean died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones, and her favorite cat, Stewie. Wife of the late Reynold Falce. Loving mother of Lisa (Carl) Tuscan and the late Lori (surviving Tom) Wratcher. Grandmother of Gina Tuscan (Greg Buchko).

Everyone was always welcome at her house, and you were guaranteed a great meal. She loved to have time with her family. One of her favorite holidays was Christmas Eve and having the feast of the seven fishes with her family.

The family would like to thank Angels for the Elderly and Gallagher Hospice. Thanks to Jean’s loving caregivers, Renee, Bobbi, Kathy, her nurse’s aide Jocelyn, and her amazing nurse, Kimmy.

David Given Sr.

David Given Sr., 73, of North Versailles Twp. died May 28, 2021. Born May 27, 1948. Son of Alexander and Gertrude Given. Lived in North Versailles all his life. Graduated from high school in Wilmerding. Started working at Westinghouse Electric in East Pittsburgh. He was drafted into the Army. He spent 15 months in Vietnam. He earned 2 Bronze Stars. He returned to his job and worked there for a total of 23 years, before they shut down.

He joined the VFW in 1969. He became very active in the organization. He held several offices before becoming the first Vietnam Veteran to become Post Commander. He was a life member of the VFW. He was the Adjutant and Bar Manager. He also was a Life Member of American Legion Post 701 in White Oak. He was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose #86. He met his wife, Nancy in 1970. They married in September of 1970.

Mary Bernadette (Snyder) Comunale of North Versailles Twp., 82, died May 31, 2021. Born in McKeesport on January 27, 1939, “Bernie”, was the daughter of Rose Marie (Mulligan) and Walter Paul Snyder. Wife of late James “Fats” Comunale. Beloved Mother of James Comunale (Pam), Constance Darnley (William), Julie Aubin (Lorne), and Lisa Howell (Gary). Grandmother of Brooke and Joshua Howell. Sister of Walter Snyder and Margaret Kraus. She is also loved by many nieces nephews, relatives and friends.

Bernie was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School in 1957. Dedicated 33 years at Wabtec working for AVI Food Services. She loved playing cards, bingo and watching Jeopardy. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was the former President of the East Allegheny Band Parent Association.Patricia was active in Girl Scouts. She will fondly be remembered as a selfless mother and grandmother.

She was born June 12, 1948, daughter of the late Joseph Sr. and Claire Strang. Wife of the late Dennis R. Brant Sr. Beloved mother of Lori (Lawrence) Spahr and Dennis R. Brant Jr. (Lauren Walker). Robert “Whitey” Wiest

Robert “Whitey” Wiest, 76, died May 9, 2021, with his loving family at his side. Whitey was the loving husband of Marlene (DePaoli) Wiest; father of Tara Pierce and Noel Wiest; grandfather of Ashley Bittner. Whitey enjoyed watching sports, especially the Auburn Tigers. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was strong in his Byzantine Faith. Per Whitey’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Betty (Saula) Beresford

Betty (Saula) Beresford, 83, peacefully passed on May 5, 2021, with her loving family at her side. Betty was the loving mother of Deborah Howatineck, Kirk Beresford, Doug (Jennifer) Beresford and Scott Beresford. She was the special Bub of Tyler, Kaylee, Brian and Kasey; Great-Bub of Bentley and Brodie. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, many cousins, and friends. Betty was preceded in passing by her parents, Mike and Lois (Love) Saula, and siblings, Margaret DeFalco, Norman “Nick” Saula and George Saula. Betty enjoyed crafts and gardening. Her greatest joy was her family and the time she spent with them. Family was the most important to her, and she loved them unconditionally. They loved her dearly, and will miss her deeply.

William “Bill” Tucci

William “Bill” Tucci, 78, of Baldwin Health Center, formerly of East McKeesport, died April 23, 2021. He was born on April 23, 1943 and was a son of the late Leonard Tucci Sr. and Mary (Venuto) Tucci. Bill was also preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Michael, Albert, Leonard, John and James, and sisters, Louise Comunale and Edith Tucci. He is survived by brother, Richard Tucci of North Huntingdon and his sister Mary Woody of North Huntingdon.

Bill was a good-natured person with a sense of humor and was very well liked by all his friends. He was a huge fan of his many nieces and nephews and loved them very much. They were the highlight of his life.

Bill worked in construction along with his brothers and took much pride in his work. Christmas was his most favorite time of year. He drove to Maryland with a friend where they cut down Christmas trees and hauled them back to sell.

Later in life with failing health it became necessary for him to live in personal care homes. In 2020 he was a patient at Baldwin Health Center, Pittsburgh. He received excellent health care there until he was called home to be with God on his birthday, April 23, 2021. He will be missed by those who loved him.

Margaret A Ily, 86 of Wilmerding, died peacefully on Friday April 9, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Lena (Ingagliato) Cortazzo. The wife of late Raymond Ily. Loving mother to Carleen (Paul) Gagetta and Dominick Ily. Adoring grandmother to Maria Margaret Gagetta; sister of the late Patrick (surviving Lois) Cortazzo and Helena (Larry) Sobek. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and special friend Dolores Krisher (Sissy).

Margaret was a retired Nurses Aide at Braddock Hospital. Her heart was filled with care and kindness her entire life. Margaret is especially remembered by her homemade spaghetti sauce and pizzelles. Her family will continue traditions for years to come.

The family would like to thank LGAR Health & Rehabilitation for their wonderful care and compassion to Margaret since 2015.

Loving sister of  the Late Mary Lou, Delores (Forrest), and late twin sister Eugenia "Dee" (Joseph) Jurich.   Also late brothers John(Rose) , James (Barbara), Bernard (late Jessie), Frederick (Virginia), Raymond (Josephine), and Eugene. She also was the loving aunt of numerous nieces, and nephews.

Eleanor was an artist and musician whose talents came naturally. She even had an art show while at Manor Care  nursing home.  She also liked learning to ballroom dance, enjoyed cake decorating, and the care of her plants, also she loved her dear cats, and dogs!

Helen (Glazar) Karczewski, 96, died Monday, March 22, 2021 at the age of 96 with her daughters by her side. Helen was the devoted wife of the late Edward Karczewski. Loving mother of Diane (the late Ralph) Falvo, Susan (Wayne Jones) Karczewski, Mary Jo (Mark) Jacko and the late Karen (the late Jim) Liebmann. She was the adoring grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of 10. She is also survived by her brother, Ted Glazar, numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Helen loved to cook, bake bread and make pierogis.

She was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She volunteered at St. Jude Church and was a member of the St. Jude Rosary Society. She enjoyed puzzles and gardening.

Betty (Babyak) Lukas, 88, of North Versailles Twp. died February 28, 2021. Betty was the wife of the late John A. Lukas. She was the loving mother of Barbara (Joseph) Gardonis, Richard (Karen) Lukas, Roberta Comunale and the late John F. Lukas. Adoring grandmother of Jennifer Ramey, Jimmy Comunale, Rich Lukas, Joseph Gardonis and Chris Lukas, great-grandmother of 3. 

Betty was a dedicated member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in East McKeesport, where she was a member of the Ladies of Charity. She was a longtime volunteer at McKeesport Hospital and Forbes Hospital. She also volunteered for Ma’s Pantry and Meals on Wheels.

Betty had a strong personal faith in Jesus. She was a loving and devoted mom and grandma. She enjoyed baking, and always had fresh baked goods to share with the neighbor kids. Betty always had a kind word to say about everyone. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

Theodore “Frank” Zarichansky, 92, of North Versailles, Pa., died on February 23, 2021.

Born in Wall, PA, February 21, 1929, was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Bernadine (Stalowski-Ellenberger), parents John and Catherine (Zamiszcak) Zarichansky, four brothers (Michael, Anthony, Andrew and John), one sister (Mary Rullo), and step-son Jack L. Ellenberger.

He is survived by his brother, Nicholas (Mary) Zarichansky, his step-children Donna (Louis) Paulisick, Darryl Ellenberger, and step-son’s widow, Sharon Ellenberger. He is survived by nine grandchildren: Richard and Karen Paulisick, Kristin (Dr. Jim) Richards, Jocelyn (Jeff) Bell, Jack (Michelle) Ellenberger, Kayla (Robert) Michalak, Nathan Ellenberger, Michael Ellenberger, and Brandon Ellenberger; and 13 great-grandchildren Matthew Paulisick; Coleman and Caroline Richards; Jennings, Greyson and Charlotte Bell; Alexi, Leo and Julian Ellenberger; Mason, Rylan, Kanon, and Declan Michalak. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Esther (Joe) Deleo, and numerous nieces and nephews.
