Edwin David Ruffing, 77 of Versailles, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022. He is enjoying the "High Life" (again). Son of the late William L. and Elizabeth "Betty" (Fleckenstien) Ruffing. Ed grew up along Route 48 in Boston. That was where his strong work ethic began, working in his family's farm. While attending Glassport High School, he set bowling pins in McKeesport, often walking both to and from in all weather. After graduation, Ed began working in the Steel Industry as a crane operator among many other positions at both National Tube and Tygart Steel until having to choose one mill. It was at Tygart that Ed became union president. It was at this time he also began working as a laborer and apprentice for masonry. He found this to be his true passion. He loved to build and create with brick, block, stone or concrete. His numerous masonry works can be found not only locally but in other states as well. He "lived to work and worked to live," always taking pride in what he created. Ed always said, "I'll be gone but my work lives forever." Homes, garages, apartments, businesses, you name it-he built it and loved doing it. In spite of the physical demands he continued to work. Ed's other passion was traveling. His fun free spirit led him hitchhiking across the states, while young, and there weren't many he missed. Although he hunted the mountains of Colorado and Pennsylvania, it was the ocean that held his heart. He loved vacations in Florida, especially the Florida Keys, and Key West with Amy and his dogs, Snuggles and Cocoa.

Shawn Eric Teamann, 55, of North Huntingdon, was greeted in heaven by his parents Lois and Joseph Teamann on January 20, 2022. He was born February 4, 1966 in Portsmouth, VA. Those that knew Shawn knew him as one of the kindest, most patient and giving people they had met.  He was a faithful man who loved our Lord, his family, his church, and his community. As a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Shawn served as Eucharistic Minister until his illness. He was a fan of The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Penguins, loved taking his dog Piper for long walks, and enjoyed family vacations to Sandbridge. Shawn had a successful career as a retail manager, most recently with DSW Shoes. In October of 2020, Shawn was diagnosed with T-Cell Prolymphocytic Leukemia (T-PLL), an incredibly rare and aggressive form of cancer. He had a stem cell transplant on October 28, 2021 with his sister being his donor. Shawn fought hard but his body just couldn’t beat the battle. He leaves behind his wife Cheryl (Twigger), sister Deborah Teamann, sons Stephen (Christina) and Nathan Torok, grandchildren Abbey, Lily and Zack, mother-in-law Pat Twigger, brother-in-law George Twigger, nieces, nephews and many cousins. Sharon L. Truxal, 71 of N. Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at her home. She was born February 3, 1950 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Earl and Margaret (Rubash) Morrison. Sharon gave meaning to, home is where the heart is. She loved music, turn on a good Oldie and she could be found showing you how to do the jitterbug. She made a family that was so full of love surrounded by her grandkids and great grandkids who she full heartedly adored.

Sharon loved the Holidays which were followed by her decorating her house, cooking lots of food, and gathering all of her family to spend quality time together. She was a giver, she made sure nobody felt left out not even her canine pup Scooby. She loved summer time, going to the beach or relaxing at home swimming and tending to her flowers and watching the birds eat out of their feeders. Sharon was a woman of many trades. She loved to sit around and tell stories with her brothers and sister or go on bingo outings and try her luck, although for her it was all about the time being spent together.

Sharon loved life, she loved making friends at the campground and throwing huge block parties for people to get to know one another. She loved to decorate her trailer and golf cart and dress her grandkids up and dance and party all night long. As wild and free as Sharon was she was also very homely, there was no place like grandma’s house. She was a wise intelligent woman who anyone could sit and talk with for hours or pull up a seat to a good movie she would suggest.

Ruth Ulmer

January 04, 2022 |

By Finney Funeral Homes | Posted in: Finney Funeral Homes

It is with great sadness that the family announces the unexpected death of Ruth “Ruthie” Cochran Ulmer on January 4, 2022 at the age of 90, after a short, hard-fought battle with cancer. Ruth was born September 30, 1931, to the late Edward “Ted” and Ruth V. Coulson Cochran of Coal Valley in Clairton, followed closely by the birth of her devoted sister, Lois Jean, nineteen months later. Ruth was the loving wife of 57 years to William C. Ulmer, whom she lost in 2008. She was pre-deceased by two infant brothers, Charles and William. Left to mourn her passing is her sister, Lois Jean, and her three sons: William E. (Kathleen) of Clairton, Craig L. (Barbara) of Pleasant Hills, and Kevin T. (Ginger) of Greenock. She leaves behind seven grandchildren to cherish her memory: William M. (Andrea Pomarico), Christopher L. (Roy Gloeckl), Ted (Danielle), Bennett (Andrew) Ulmer and Meghan (Vince) Grabe, Jillian (Ed) Cerilli and Hannah (Ryan) Glaser. Ruth was blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Reagan Kathleen, Zoe Barbara, Aaron Anthony, Taylor Anne, Maximo Thomas, Rocky Ace, Olive Reign, and (expected) Cole Lewis. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, whom she loved. She was a proud 1949 graduate of Clairton High School, a lifelong member of Pine Run United Methodist Church and was active in its Vacation Bible School, United Methodist Women’s group as well as one of the kitchen ladies. A longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Amaranth lodges, she developed and maintained close friendships wherever she went. Ruth retired after 24 years of service with U.S. Steel at its Clairton plant and was then able to take several memorable trips throughout the U.S. with her and Bill’s close friends, Ed and Lois Basch, George and Audrey Porter and her sister and brother-in-law, Chuck and Lois Zwingler. She and Bill proudly flew the Grand Squares square-dancing flag on their car for decades, and Bill made tapes of the more difficult “calls” for them to practice. A strong athlete far into her retirement, she remained active until recently with walks around the neighborhood with local friends, and even bowled a 200 game with her Monday morning ladies’ bowling league as recently as 2019. She was a dedicated fan of the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. She cultivated long friendships with those from the AARP Wilson Chapter #1612, her “49’ers” high school luncheon crowd and a large circle of friends, staying in touch with daily or weekly phone calls- and she knew everyone’s phone number from memory. She was a hard-working woman of strength, determination, and faith, and has now joined Bill and her loved ones in Heaven. Unfortunately, her recipe for her Berry Roll goes with her. Friends will be received at the S.M. Finney Funeral Home at 432 N. 6th Street in the Wilson section of Clairton on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 2 to 8. Services will be conducted at Pine Run Methodist Church on Thursday, January 6 at 10 o’clock. Interment is to be at Jefferson Memorial Park beside her beloved Bill. If anyone cares to make a donation, please consider donating to Pine Run United Methodist Church, 901 N. 6th Street, Clairton, PA, 15025. Online condolences may be offered at www.finneyfuneralhome.com.
