Janison John Tognarine, age 83, of Elizabeth, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Jefferson Hospital. An Army veteran, he retired as a warehouse foreman for Marraccini Supermarket in Elizabeth. He was a member of St. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael Church in Elizabeth Twp. and the West Newton Senior Citizens. Born November 14, 1938 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Joseph and Julia (Sonetta) Tognarini. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathleen R. (Naccarelli) Tognarine; sons, Wayne Tognarine of Elizabeth and Richard (Mary McAdams) Tognarine of North Versailles; brothers, Jerome Tognarine of Cape Coral, FL, Jude Tognarina of Elizabeth, Jay (Catherine) Tognarini of Elizabeth and Juan (Adrie) Tognarini of Coulter; also, nieces and nephews. Clifford E. Loehr, age 88, formerly of Forward Twp., passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 in Atria Senior Living of South Hills. He was a retired chemical engineer at PPG Industries in Barberton, OH and he and his wife were the founding members of the Mon Valley Cloggers. Born March 9, 1934 in Somers, IA, he was a son of the late Clifford J. Loehr and Neva (Morris) King and husband of the late Patricia (Barlow) Loehr. He is survived by four children, Deborah (Donald Rudat) Morgan of Forward Township, Mark (Maureen) Loehr of Boiling Springs, SC, Andrea (Jeff) Hudson of Akron, OH and Lesa (William) DeMarrais of Forward Township; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; sister, LaDonna Rugg of Iowa. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Loehr. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Evelyn "Effie" (Batinich) Liptak, age 92 of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022. Born March 20, 1930 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Marion and Mary (Nikolic) Batinich. The former co-owner/proprietor of Marion's Tavern on Route 51 in Jefferson Hills. a family business for over 50 years. Effie was an active member of the Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish - St. Thomas A Becket Church in Jefferson Hills and its Ladies of Charity. She was also an active member of the Croatian Fraternal Union St. George Lodge #248 and was extemely proud of her Croatian heritage. She served as a member of the Lodge Board of Trustees, as well as a delegate to the National CFU conventions. Effie enjoyed getting together with her "Church Ladies" friend group that often got together for breakfast. She was an excellent cook and an even better baker. Her family will remember her as extremely generous in all aspects of her life., She adored her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. She loved big, shared big, gave big, cooked big, and lived a big full life with a matching big personality. And that is why she leaves such a big hole in their hearts. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George J. Liptak, who passed away January 5 2006, and her siblings Thomas Batinich, Carol Batinich and Anna Mae Majernik. Effie is survived by her children Renee (Roger) Vonada of Carnegie and George (Susan) Liptak of Upper St. Clair; her grandchildren Andrew and Morgan Vonada and Nathan, Rachel, and Michael Liptak; her siblings Marion Lokmer of Chargrin Falls, OH, Joan Atkinson of Jefferson Hills, PA and Frances Smith of Kennebunk, ME; and also many beloved nieces and nephews.

Boris "BoBo" Abrasheff, age 92 of Clairton, passed away at his daughter's home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. Born March 3, 1930 in Clairton, he was a son of the late Kiril and Theodora (Mirchef) Abrasheff. A US Army Veteran of the Korean War and member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish - St. Clare of Assisi Church, BoBo was the decades-long owner/proprietor of the Clairton Bakery and an avid golfer. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette (Chisick) Abrasheff, who passed away November 24, 2005, and his brother Kosta Abrasheff. BoBo is survived by his daughters Karen (Gil) Berry and Nanette (Barry) Shaffron, both of Jefferson Hills, his brother Carl "Cu" (Marlene) Abrasheff of Clairton, and also nieces and nephews.

Hazel (Halle) Lentini, 79, formerly of Hendersonville, NC, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 in Pittsburgh after a long illness. The eldest of four daughters, she was born March 25, 1943, in McKeesport to Clifford Albert and Etta Mae (March) Halle. She was a member of the Grace Gospel Church in Hickory, NC, and employed as a display designer for Radio Station WHKP. Her great passions were family time, oil painting, music, and traveling. She created more than 100 paintings in her lifetime and was able to attend her final art show in July 2022, which was attended by her supportive family and cherished friends. All four sisters have remained close and traveled many miles to be together through the years. Hazel kept the entire family up to date with a newsletter, the Lentini Lens, and calendars filled with photos, many taken by her. She generously included everyone’s achievements and adventures.

Pauline was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish – St. Clare of Assisi Church, Clairton. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Frank T. Monko; her sons Mark P. and Andrew S. Born September 28, 1927 in McKeesport, she was daughter of the late John and Anna (Pavlecic) Kolic. A former employee of both G.C. Murphy's and Apter Bros., Mildred was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish - Corpus Christi Church in McKeesport and its former Christian Mothers, the CFU Lodge #3, Jednota Lodge #267, and the Mon Yough Friendship Club. In her spare time, she was an excellent baker but, more importantly, an excellent wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Besides her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Michael V. Matta, Sr., who passed away May 14, 2006, her sisters Caroline Medved and Ann Luketic, and her brothers John and George Kolic. She is survived by her sons David M. (Pamela) Matta of Little Boston and Michael V. Francis A. Geletko, age 72 of Clairton, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022. Born September 10, 1949 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Frank J. and Alice (Piatek) Geletko. A member of the former St. joseph's Parish in Clairton, Francis graduated from Clairton High School, Class of 1967, received a football scholarship to the University of Wyoming, and received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the California University of PA. He began his professional career at US Steel Clairton Works, then worked for many years for the City of Clairton as city clerk, public works director, and finance director. With the city, Francis proudly instituted Clairton's recycling program. He retired as director of finance for the Clairton Municipal Authority and also was the founder and owner/proprietor, along with his wife, of Geletko Tax Service, which they operated for 38 years. He also served on the Clairton School Board. In his spare time, Francis was a member of the Sons of Columbus, Santa Maria Council #3, an avid golfer, and a big Pittsburgh sports fan. Francis is survived by his wife of over 49 years Jill (Hoge) Geletko; his son Robert (Colleen) Geletko of Brookline and their children Vivian, Harrison, and Scarlett; his daughter Susannah K. (Mike) Sowko of Rostraver Twp. and their children Rory and Gavin Francis; his sisters Monica LaFrankie and Marie Shelton; and also many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
