James G. Sepcic, 85, of Liberty Borough, died Thursday, October 19, 2017. He was born March 3, 1932 in Braddock and was the son of the late Stephen and Milka "Mildred" Krajacic Sepcich. He was a member of the Liberty Presbyterian Church, Veteran's of Foreign Wars, The US Navy Memorial Association, American Legion, D.A.V., V.F.W., Croatian Federation of America, and was a former Liberty Borough Volunteer Fire Fighter. James was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He served on the Battleship New Jersey. For his service, he received the National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the China Service Medal. He was retired from the US Steel Edgar Thompson Works. He was the loving husband of Peggy Page Comer Sepcic, devoted father of Laura Ann Mierow of Wauwatosa, WI, Christine Marie Napotnik of Gibsonia, Rebecca S. (Lee) Miller of Phoenix, AZ, Robert G. Neal and Stephen L. Neal of North Huntingdon, and James D. Neal of White Oak, compassionate "Pap Pap" of Aubrianna and Georgena Mierow, Adam Napotnik, Ryan Polito, Ashlee Miller, Robert G. Neal, Jr., and Stephen L. Neal, Jr., beloved brother of Elizabeth Basista of FL, and had many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Robert C. Estochen, Sr., 84, of Douglasville, Georgia, formerly of White Oak, died Tuesday, October 17, 2017. He was born September 22, 1933 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Pagesh Estochen. He was a member of Faith Lutheran church in White Oak and was retired from Westinghouse Electric. Robert was a coach for 17 years for the White Oak Athletic Association. He is survived by his daughter Bonny Jo Belcher of Douglasville, GA, sons, Eric L. (Terri) Estochen of Tyngsboro, MA, Robert C. (Laurie) Estochen, Jr.,  of Farmington, NY, and Edwin G. Estochen of Aiken, SC, 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Michael has worked at Disney World, currently at the Coral Reef Restaurant in Epcot Center for the past eleven years. His legacy of love, caring and helping others will not be forgotten by the close "family like" network of friends and coworkers with whom he shared his life in Orlando, Florida. A dedicated animal lover, his loyal dog Blue was his constant companion. As a traveler, he touched many lives across the globe. Mike was compassionate and understanding to all he encountered. She was born August 23, 1929 in Olyphant, and was the daughter of the late John and Martha Russen Sweda. She was the wife of the late Archpriest Dimitri H. Ermakov. She was a member of Dormition of the Holy Virgin Russian Orthodox Church in McKeesport. Martha was a switchboard operator for the former Bell of Pennsylvania. She is survived by her daughters, Matushka Larissa D. (Mitred Archpriest Stephan P.) Romanchak of The Villages, FL, Matushka Juliane D. (Protodeacon Stephen) Howanetz of Olyphant, and Martha D. Martin of McKeesport, son, Archpriest Dimitri D. (Matushka Natasha) Ermakov of West Mifflin, sister, Vera Wasacz of San Francisco, CA, 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was born August 6, 1957 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Alvin "Creamy" and Elinor Smith Markle. Keith worked for Midwest Transport and had formerly worked for Schneider Trucking Co. and Walmart Trucking. Keith was an outstanding Little League and Pony League baseball player in West Newton. He was in the last class to graduate West Newton High School in 1976. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. He is survived by sisters, Sandi (Joe) Hawthorne of Buena Vista, and Debra (Don) Furar of Goodyear, AZ, brothers, Kevin Markle and Dennis (Jeanette) Markle of West Newton, nieces and nephews.

Eugene Carl Lepsch, 84, of Coulters, died Monday, October 9, 2017.  He was born October 24, 1932 in Greenock and was the son of the late Charles George and Edna Marie Hendry Lepsch. He was the husband of the late Eleanor A. Valecko Lepsch who died February 26, 2016. He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Boston, and was retired from Port Authority of Allegheny County.  He was also a retired Pennsylvania Constable. He was a member of Rescue 8, White Oak Rescue and the McKeesport Ambulance Service. Eugene was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. He is survived by his son Robert Michael (Anna) Lepsch of Chalfant,  daughters, Kathleen (late husband, Guy) Esposito and Rose Ann (Dennis) Torok of Coulters, grandchildren, Deanne Torok-Katchur (Chris), and Christopher and Cassie Lepsch, step-grandchildren, Guy, Jr., Michael, Gary, Carl, and Timothy Esposito, and Jennifer Speranza, and nieces and nephews.

Mildred "Mimi" Pavlovich, 89, formerly of White Oak, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Golden Heights Personal Care Home in Irwin.  She was born in Duquesne, the only child of the late Rade and Saja Maystorovich.  She was married to the late Peter Pavlovich for 25 years and they were blessed with two children, Melissa (Bob) Weimer and Denise (Thomas) Englert.  She graduated from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA and worked many years for Three Rivers Bank from where she retired.  She was a lifelong member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church of McKeesport/Duquesne where she was an active member of the Mother's Club and Young at Hearts Club.  In addition to her daughters,  she is survived by five grandchildren, who brought great joy to her life, Alison Weimer, Stephanie Weimer, Zachary (Laura) Englert, Christopher (Michelle) Englert, Sara Englert and two great-grandsons, Landon and Jace, along with nephew, Nick Pavlovich and niece, Milena Caldwell.

She was born August 14, 1942 in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of the late Martin "Regis" and Clara Keddie Flaherty. She was the wife of the late Vincent R. Artuso who died February 9, 2017. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Christy Park and was a retired school teacher from the Wilkinsburg School District. She taught English, Reading and Drama. Mary was a member of the Democratic State Committee, member and retired director of PSEA-PACE,Western Region PSEA, Past NEA Democratic Caucus President, Past PSEA Caucus President, and was also a former Assistant Commissioner  for the Boy Scouts of America. She is survived by her son, Philip R. Artuso of West Newton, brother, John (Cat) Flaherty of Silver Spring, MD, sisters, Rita (Henry) Jordan of Elizabeth Township, Jane (Guy) Zumpetta of Mantua, OH, and Ann (David) Loeffler of Cadorus, and many nieces and nephews.

Herbert Kees Howell

Herbert Kees Howell, 89, of Elizabeth Township, died Saturday, September 30, 2017. He was born September 4, 1928 in Elizabeth Township and was the son of the late David and Sarah Jane Belsar Howell.

Herb was the only student in first grade at the Harmony One Room School, then went on to Wylie School, and then graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1946. During his junior year of high school he left at 1pm and worked until 10 pm during World War II at Jones and Laughlin Steel in Port Vue. Herb was a member of the PA National Guard Unit “Pittsburgh” during the Korean War.

In 1946, Herb would start his own business as a bricklayer, the business would grow over the years to become Howell Marble, Mantel and Stone Company and in 1995 would become Howell Craft, Inc., and is still located at 591 Simpson-Howell Road with 12 employees. He was a member of Central Highland Community United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the planning committee for the new addition of the church, was past president of the administrative board and was also a Sunday school teacher. He was past president and a lifetime member of the Central Volunteer Fire Company.

Marie Virginia Killian Race, 86, of Elizabeth Township, died Friday, September 29. 2017. She was born November 17, 1930 at home on 28th Street in Christy Park and was the daughter of the late Peter and Marie Kreson Killian. She was the wife of the late Thomas Edward Race, Jr. who passed away March 15, 2013. They were married for 60 years. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Romanian Byzantine Church, Christy Park, where she was a former choir director, and bulletin preparer. She also designed pass outs and announcements, participated in cooking dinners, bake sales, bingos and various other money raising projects. Marie was active in International Village, She took part in the first festivity in 1960, and helped design Romanian floats and booths until 1975. At the 2009 Village, Marie was recognized for having designed the first International Village symbol in 1960 and was honored and given a "key to the city" from Mayor Brewster.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her children, Hannah Hughes, Dylan Winters, Leah Cassin and Chaise Faychak, sisters, Cynthia Lee (Jay) Weinberg of North Huntingdon and Melissa Ann Mihalic Raynes of Jefferson Hills, brothers, Charles Allen (Peaches) Boyles of Elizabeth Township and Garrett Clyde Kynor, Jr., of Pleasant Hills, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
