Helen Lichtenstein, 81 of White Oak passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday March 21, 2018. She was born January 27, 1937 in Queens, New York and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Josephine Kestenbaum. She was a member of Gemilas Chesed Congregation and it's Sisterhood and Hadassah. She was Vice President and CFO of her family business Lico, Inc., McKeesport. She is survived by her husband, Stanley Lichtenstein, children, Steven Lichtenstein of Orlando, FL, Sam (Randi) Lichtenstein of Monroeville and Shari (Henry) Rondon of Pembroke Pines, FL, grandchildren, Stephanie (Jesse) Naber, Matt (Riley) Lichtenstein, Ashley Cuneo, and Ryan Lichtenstein, great grandchildren, Jace and Luke, and also her grand fur babies.
Thomas David Kurta, Jr., 39, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018. He was born June 7, 1978 in McKeesport and was a member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church in McKeesport and was a 1996 graduate of Hudson High School in Hudson, OH. Tom loved hockey, riding his Harley-Davidson, watching a good movie and going out with friends. He was proprietor of TK Window Cleaning. He is survived by his parents, Thomas D. and Mary Jane (Leibold) Kurta of Elizabeth Township, sister, Tammy Lynn (Jeff Corsello) Kurta of Mars, grandmother, Helen Leibold of Elizabeth Township and nieces, Lila Monroe and Amelia Grace.
John David Patrick, 63, of McKeesport, died Saturday, March 17, 2018 at home. He was born February 7, 1955 in Youngstown, Ohio, and was the son of Olga (Roshesky) Patrick of Youngstown and the late John Patrick. John was a deacon and choir member at the Norwin Alliance Church and was also a member of Pittsburgh Scottish Country Dance Society and the Tuesday Musical Club. He graduated from Youngstown University with 2 Engineering Degrees. He retired from US Steel - Edgar Thomson Works after 40 years of service. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Carole Sue (Gardner) Patrick, stepsons, Kirk (Niddavone) Zecchini and Keith Zecchini, grandchildren, Dominic, Zachary, Isabella, Eva, and Miranda, great-grandchildren, Julian and Olivia, brothers, Greg Patrick of Austintown, OH, Daniel (Coleen) Patrick of Salem, OH, and Michael Patrick of Ben Avon, PA, sisters, Karen (Steve) Baumgarten of Beachwood, OH, Denise (Frank) DeCenso of Virginia Beach, VA, and Marilyn (Jeff) Carnahan of Norfolk, VA, nieces and nephews. Ilse Hildegard (Schneider) Eichler, 94, of Elizabeth Township, died Friday, March 16, 2018. She was born November 4, 1923 in Plauen, Germany and was the daughter of the late Walther Kurt and Ella Frieda (Schuebel) Schneider. She was the wife of the late Martin Eichler who died February 21, 2010. She was a member of Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth and wife Linda Eichler of Murrysville, Alan and wife Roxanne Eichler of North Versailles, daughter, Wendy and husband Daniel Seager of Lake Park, FL, grandchildren, Kristen Norona and Kaytlin Mooney, Alex, Erich, Adam, Elissa, and Annie Eichler, and great-grandchildren, John, Elisabeth Kay, and Raegan Kennedy.
Evan E. Hughes, 79, of Boston, Elizabeth Township, died Tuesday, March 13, 2018. He was born January 24, 1939 in Clairton and was the son of the late Henry C. Hughes, Sr., and the late Katherine (Watson) Hughes. He was a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Township, the National Education Association and was a member and past president of the former Versailles AARP. Evan was a collective bargaining expert and was a retired Negotiator with the Florida Teaching Profession. He is survived by his wife, Ethel (Anater) Hughes, son, Glen (Nita) Hughes of Albuquerque, NM, daughter, Dana Sorick of Munhall, grandchildren, Jessica and Daniel Snyder, brother, Henry Hughes, Jr. of Pottstown, niece, Linda (Marty) Vollmuth and nephew, Brian (Christine) Hughes.
Mary R. Mizgorski, 92, a life long resident of Bloomfield, died Monday, March 12, 2018. She was born July 10, 1925 in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of the late Vicenzo and Antoinette (Scapes) Trapani. She was the wife of the late A. William Mizgorski. Mary worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Workman's Compensation Division and had previously worked for Ayob's Produce Yards in the Strip District. She was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Joanne E. Mizgorski of Shadyside, brother, Dominic (Pat) Trapani of Verona, and many nieces and nephews.
Zachary Edward Segady, 14, of White Oak, died Saturday, March 10, 2018. He was born January 2, 2004 in Pittsburgh and was the son of Meri (Speake) Segady and Ernest Segady Jr. of White Oak. Zach was an eighth grade student at Founder's Hall and was a member of the youth group at First Evangelical Free Church. He was also a member of the White Oak Athletic Association Basketball and Baseball program. He was a volunteer at the White Oak Fire Co. and loved to play computer and Xbox video games. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Kayla Segady and brother, Dan Pfeffer, grandmother, Georgette Bemesderfer of North Versailles, grandfather, Ernest Segady, Sr. of McKeesport, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Dennis W. Mathe, 70, of White Oak, passed away peacefully Friday, March 9, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 15, 1947 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Alexander and Irene Szalko Mathe. Dennis worked as a bander for Precoat metals and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, The Eleventh Ward Welfare Club and the Croatian Club. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, a wonderful father, and a wonderful grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joy Cecchini Mathe of White Oak, daughter, Dena (Tony) Pugliano of East McKeesport, son, Dennis L. (Jessica) Mathe of White Oak, grandchildren, Mylee Pugliano, Marena Mathe, Nico Pugliano and Camryn Noll, brothers, Arnold and Thomas Mathe, brother-in-law, Joe Cecchini, mother-in-law, Marie Cecchini, nieces and nephews.
Mona Lee (Jonseof) Cazimero, 64, of Trafford, died Saturday, March 10, 2018. She was born February 20, 1954 in Wilkinsburg and was the daughter of the late William H. and June F. (Shonefelt) Jonseof. She was the wife of the late Alvin Cazimero who died August 19, 2015. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William "Butch" Jonseof, Jr. and Gene Jonseof. She is survived by her cousin, Margaret R. "Marty" Magill of North Huntingdon and many friends.
Rose Marie Grdich, 91, of Christy Park, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. She was born April 24, 1926 in Uniontown and was the daughter of the late John and Rose Coltus Kovach. She was the wife of the late Frank Grdich who died June 19, 1990. She was a member of the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McKeesport and retired from McKeesport Area School District. She is survived by her son, Frank Joseph Grdich of Christy Park, sisters, Dorothy (Sam) Kirk of McKeesport, Elizabeth Allsworth of Versaillles, Mary Czura of Dravosburg, Josephine Voytek of Uniontown, Martha Gadish of Allison, Patricia Samol, Stella Carpenter, and Helen Fialko of Cleveland, OH, granddaughter, Jennifer (Brian) Case of Elizabeth Township, great-grandchildren, Justin Sturkie and Jonathan Mayersky, nieces and nephews.
Joyce Dorothy Malec, 73, of Elizabeth Township, died peacefully at home on Thursday March 8, 2018. She was born August 14, 1944 in Wilkinsburg and was the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy (Dryer) Whitehead. She was the wife of the late Ronald Thomas Malec, Sr, who died November 16, 2012. Joyce was a homemaker and also worked for Union Cleaners. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle L. Malec of Elizabeth Township, sons, Ronald Thomas Malec, Jr, of Elizabeth Township and Daniel J. Malec of Sutersville, brother, Harry (Patricia) Whitehead of Pleasant Hills, grandson, Isadore F. Malec of Sutersville, nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth "Betty" (Cartia) Vozar, 88, of North Versailles, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2018. She was born July 2, 1929 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Charles Carmela and Maria Rosa (Urblik) Cartia. She was the wife of the late John Vozar. Elizabeth was a member of Miller United Methodist Church in North Versailles. She had previously worked for Orlando's Fruit Market, Cox's Dept. Store and the Salvation Army, all in McKeesport. She enjoyed cooking and baking daily for her family and friends. She also liked Sudoku and variety puzzle books. She loved watching the Food Network, game shows and the news. She never thought of herself, instead, always put others first. She was constantly thinking of what else she can do to make people happy - especially her family. She attended McKeesport High School, but had to quit at 15 years old to take care of her mother. She is survived by her sons, John (Becca) Vozar of Liberty Borough, Kenneth (Kathy) Vozar of North Versailles, and Pastor Ron (JoAnn) Vozar of Fredericktown, Ohio, and her daughter, Liz Vozar of Lincoln Borough. She was the sister of Jim (Nancy) Cartia of Manteca, CA, grandmother of Breanne (Michael) Cleary, Chelsea Vozar, Shaun Vozar, Wayne (Kellie) Vozar, Kristy (Bryan) Conklin, and Kelly (Jay) Russell. She was the great-grandmother of Emmalyn, Taylor, Zach, Ethan, Blake, Annalise, Caleb, and Luke. Elizabeth was one of thirteen children.
Regis Alan Hinerman, Jr., 49, of Forward Township, died Friday, March 2, 2018 at home. He was born June 17, 1968 in McKeesport and was the son of Peggy J. Stiens Hinerman of Elizabeth Township and the late Regis Alan Hinerman, Sr. Regis was a 1986 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School and had worked for Basic Carbide. He had a passion for cars and mechanics. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his twin children, Emily Elizabeth and Nicholas James Hinerman at home along with their mother, Lisa Danca and Toni Lynn, sister, Dana Hinerman-Augustine of Collinswood, NJ, brother, Brandon J. (Emily) Hinerman of Forward Township, aunt, Janet (John) Agnew of Eighty-Four, uncles, Jerry (Rosalie) Hinerman of McKeesport, David (Bella) Hinerman of White Oak, Michael (Dana) Younge of Elizabeth Township, Jim Younge of West Mifflin, and Richard Younge of Kissimmee, FL, nephews, Damien and Logan, and many cousins and friends.
Melanie Sue Moffat, 63, of Dravosburg, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018. She was born September 28, 1954 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Alma Mae Eisenhuth Moffat and Robert (Evelyn Farkas) Moffat of Boston. Melanie was a retired Administrative Assistant at Elizabeth Forward School District with 35 years of service. She was secretary to the High School Principal, Guidance Dept, Athletic Dept. and District Business Manager as well as the District Special Education Dept. Melanie was instrumental in organizing the Senior Citizen's Luncheon, Graduation Ceremonies and the Crisis Control Team. She was also the Assistant Drama Director at the high school and started the former Girls Club of Boston. Melanie was secretary to the Board of Directors of the Dravosburg Housing Authority and was also the Board Secretary of White Thorn Lodge Nudist Camp in Chippewa. She had also worked for Sears' Jewelry Dept. in Century III Mall. In addition to her father, she is survived by sisters, Belinda (David) Donahoe and Angel (Terry ) McCormley of Dravosburg and Janine (Daniel) McBride of White Oak, brothers, Gordon (Joni) Moffat of Butler and Robert (Annette) Moffat of North Port, FL, step-sisters, Renee (Steven) Spitzer of Somerset, KY, and Tabitha (Charles) Geramita of Castle Shannon, aunts, uncles, cousins, 14 nieces and nephews, and 12 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Edward Greenewald, 89, of Elizabeth Township and Whitacre, VA , died Thursday, March 1, 2018. He was born May 16, 1928 in Christy Park and was the son of the late Herman and Marie Greenewald. He was the husband of the late Betty Lee Whitacre Greenewald who died February 21, 2014. Edward was a member of the Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church in Elizabeth Twp., and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and the Elizabeth Pantry. He worked for US Steel Irvin Works Engineering Department and retired from the Accounting Department of US Steel Homestead Works. Edward was a Korean veteran and served in the Armored Division. He kept active playing golf and traveling. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Lee (Dr. Kerry) Bertschinger and his son, Robert E. Greenewald of Gore, VA, grandchildren, Brandy Lee, Bridget Lee and Brent Van Bertschinger, sister, Marie Plencik of North Versailles, great-grandchildren, Vannah, Aubrey, Zander and Keidan, nieces and nephews.
