Juan Andre Washington, 53, born July 25, 1967, in McKeesport, PA.  The beloved son to the late Sheila Washington and John Fletcher, Jr. departed this life on October 29, 2020, at home in Duquesne, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandmother Alice Lee Washington whom he affectionately called Mom, brothers, Eddie Griffin and Antoine Fletcher.  

Juan was a graduate of the McKeesport School District. Shortly after he obtained his associate degree in Business Education; he also obtained a barber license.  We knew Juan had the entrepreneurial spirit at a young age Juan was employed by Century III Chevrolet at the age of 18 where he would wear a suit to work every day.  He also was employed by Rent a Center as an Account Manager his latest employer was Hazelwood Drop-Off Center where he was a scale operator.  With his entrepreneurial spirit, he was in the Real Estate Industry where he owned rental properties throughout the Pittsburgh area.

Gary Juan Mack, 56, born December 28, 1963, in McKeesport, PA.  The beloved son to Johnnie and Juliette (Mack) Smith, unexpectedly departed this life on October 30, 2020. He was preceded in death by his brother, Orlando Mack, and sister, Cathy Smith.  

Gary, a graduate of McKeesport Area High School, worked as a Maintenance Engineer for Crawford Village. He was the former coach for the Salvation Army Basketball League. Gary loved sports; he was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. His favorite pastime was fishing. He also loved to cook for his family.

Mayetta “Mitzi” Jean Gross, 74, of Elizabeth, went home to heaven Sunday, October 25, 2020.  She was born at her home in West Newton on May 15, 1946, to the late Robert “Hoppy” and Hunteretta (Boyd) Smith. 

She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 42 years Herb, her infant son Timothy Drew, her brothers Robert Smith Jr. of Pensacola, FL, Thomas D. Smith Sr. of West Newton, and Dennis Smith of Jacobs Creek.  She is survived by her only daughter Jeffri Lyn Hurst of Franklin, TN, husband Brandon, and granddaughter Ariele, whom she adored beyond words. 

She is also survived by her only sister, Judith N. Backstrom of West Newton, and many well-loved nieces and nephews.  She was embraced as beloved “Moom” to her many “adopted” daughters and sons.

Raymond Glover, 79, born June 13, 1941, in McKeesport, PA. The beloved son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Finkley) Glover, Raymond departed this life on September 13, 2020, at AHN Jefferson Hospital.

Raymond is survived by his son Raymond Glover, Jr.; one grandson; sister, Juanita Glover-Batton of East Orange, NJ; caregiver, Rhonda Glover of Youngstown, OH; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Beverly Ann Brownfield

Beverly Ann Brownfield, 65, was born on October 6, 1955. She was the beloved daughter of Janice (Smith) Brownfield and the late Meredith Brownfield. Beverly departed this life suddenly, on October 22, 2020 at UPMC McKeesport. She was preceded in death by her father, and her sister, Merredith “Rita” Brownfield.

Beverly was born in McKeesport and was the first grandchild on both sides of her large and loving family. She joined her family in becoming a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church at a young age and was baptized.

Beverly attended McKeesport Senior High School and worked for some time at the McKeesport OIC. She was also a childcare provider for many years. For decades Beverly proudly worked at one of the McKeesport polling locations during every primary and general election season, and always enjoyed the camaraderie of her fellow poll workers.

Angelia, a graduate of Marion Center worked as a Home Health Aide for and Drug Alcohol Counselor. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she was part of the choir.

Harry Steven Davis, 64, was born on November 6, 1955, to the late Harry Morton and Fannie Dent Davis in Duquesne, PA. Harry passed away on October 9, 2020, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Tina Rodgers Davis, and siblings, William, Michael, and Harold Davis.  

Harry was affectionately known as “Stevie” and “Stevie Mort,” who graduated from Duquesne High School. He enjoyed spending his time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

Patricia worked in healthcare most of her life. She received a certificate as a medical assistant. She worked in several facilities where she was loved and respected by many of those she worked with and cared for.

She treasured educating them and planning fun activities for them to do. A woman of true wisdom, she loved to read and write poetry.

Mary Almetta Singleton–Randall

Mary Almetta Singleton–Randall was born on September 6, 1932 in Blythedale, Pa., to the late Joseph and Chosie Helena-Edwards Stoutamire. She triumphantly gained her wings and slipped peacefully away on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at UPMC East Hospital a few days after celebrating her 88th birthday.

Almetta, as she was known by many, held various jobs during her working career in Pennsylvania and Maryland utilizing her many talents which included workings as an accountant at Cox’s Department Store, McKeesport PA.  Years later, she utilized her great culinary skills as a cook at the University of Maryland in College Park Maryland (UMPC), where she retired in late 1990.

McKeesport was home for Almetta which is where she returned after her retirement from UMCP to care for her only sister Anna Long, who precedes her in death. She attended Ebenezer Baptist Church in Blythedale and Christ Temple AME Church in McKeeport PA.

Arnetha Lee Sallie

Arnetha Lee Sallie was born on June 15, 1924, and raised in Monongahela, PA. She was the loving daughter of the late Robert Lee and Lucinda Mitchell. Arnetha departed this life on September 7, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Sallie, Sr., brother, Sylvester Lee, and sister, Dorothy Hawley.  

Arnetha resided in McKeesport, PA.  She graduated from LaSalle University with an Associate’s degree and worked as a CPA.  She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church until 2004, at which time she relocated to Las Vegas to live with her daughter after her husband James passed away.  She loved sitting for hours reading her books and cards that her children and grandchildren sent to her.  Another one of her joys was celebrating holidays, birthdays and just being with her family. She had been trying to get back home ever since she left McKeesport.  Now we can say that sixteen years later she “Finally Made it Home.”

Stephen Gary Murray

Stephen Gary Murray, 66, beloved son of Dolly Rollfeller was born June 30, 1954, in McKeesport, PA.  Stephen departed this life September 8, 2020, at St. Margaret’s Hospital. He was preceded in death by his adopted parents Stephen and Violet Dorsey.  

Stephen grew up in McKeesport, PA that was a tight-knit community where he was able to enjoy his community, family, and friends. He later moved to Wilkinsburg, PA  where he made his home. Stephen was the Owner-Operator of Imperial Coach Limousine Company. He was a proud entrepreneur and was dedicated to each of his businesses.  He enjoyed his Restaurant & Catering business and the constant smiles that lit up each clients face. He took pride in knowing that he had deliciously satisfied, each client "palate", yet nothing could ever compare to the smile and delight, that he loved to see crossing; daughter Stephanie's face immediately after preparing her favorite dishes. 

Stephen believed that:  "The ears hearing something is not as good as the eyes seeing it; The eye's seeing it is not as good as the foot's treading upon it; the foot's treading upon it, is not as good as the hands differentiating it" (Shuoy Yuan).  He felt taking someone by the hand and teaching them step by step, would prepare them to soar an entire lifetime. He became a member of the "Big Whip Riders Club"  he was able to enjoy his love for travel, trucks, and cars. Although he appreciated and liked them all, his favorite remained: "antique cars".
