Phyllis M. Carrick, 88, of Glassport died Saturday October 2, 2021. She is the daughter of the late Zygmunt and Estelle Mularski. She was preceded in death by beloved husband Donald Carrick. She is survived by daughters Kathy (Lupe Ornelas) Carrick and Donna Adame; son John (Bill McDonald) Carrick; grandchildren April Adame, Kalley Adame, and Shawna (Sonny) Carapella; great-grandchildren Harry, Eli, Stella, and Ezra; sister Grace Vargo; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Cheryl Carrick and siblings Anthony, Ernie, Chris (Teenie), and Regis. Phyllis was a member of Christian Mothers, the Ladies Axillary and Queen of the Rosary Church. She also loved baking, cooking, and gardening.

Burgman, 80, of Glassport, died Sept. 2, 2021.  She is the daughter of the late Stanley and Katherine Plesniak.  She is survived by her beloved husband Darrell Burgman; daughters Deborah Hvozdik, Nadine (Kerry) Ord and Loretta (Shawn) Fisher; grandchildren Justin Raible, Jason Godzin, Heather Godzin and Evan Fisher; great grandchildren Jeffrey R. Raible and Ivan Godzin.  She was preceded in death by her grandson Jeffrey L.  Raible and brother George Plesniak.  Friends received Wojciechwoski Funeral Home, Glassport on Tues. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8.  A funeral blessing will be held Wed. 10:00 am at the funeral home with Father Wagner.  Interment following Round Hill Cemetery.

Cheryl L. Hopkins, 61, of Glassport, died Aug. 27, 2021.  She is the daughter of the late Thomas and Lois "Toots" (Littleton) Marcus.  She is survived by her beloved husband Kevin Hopkins; sons Jonathan Hopkins, Jarred Hopkins and Jeffrey Hopkins; daughter Kimberly Hopkins; brother Thomas "Nehemiah" Marcus; sister Tiffany Prescott; brother-in-law Martin Hopkins.  She was preceded in death by her sister Terri Gorda.  Cheryl was an office manager for Primary Care East and a member of St. Joachim and Anne Parish.  She loved to travel, which included trips to England, Italy, Ireland, Nashville and New York; loved going to the casino and frequently beat the odds on the scratch off tickets.  Cheryl was not only a friend to many but also a second mother to many more.

Cleary, 91, of Glassport died Aug. 23, 2021.  He is the son of the late James and Belle Cleary and beloved husband of the late Eileen (Hays) Cleary.  Milton was retired from Westinghouse.  He is survived by his nephews Lance (Jenn) Tacik, Tim Brown, Bill Brown, David Hays, Timothy Hays and Brian Hays; nieces Launette (Craig) Tacik-Weber, Laurie Tacik, Leslie (Steve) Inskeep, Andrea Vojtko, Doris Protz and Eileen Hays and special friend Lorraine Fontanese.  A private funeral service will be held on Sat., Aug. 28, 2021.  Funeral arrangements by Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport.

Svenungsen, 70, of Port Vue, died Aug. 18, 2021.  She is the daughter of the late Sverve and Louise Svenungsen and beloved companion and fiance of Gary Bence.  She is survived by her daughters Shawna (Keith) Ribich and Ann (John) Wargo; son John (Melissa) DiCarlo; sister Donna (Ed) Stromberg; also grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Winnetta was preceded in death by her son Ronald Svenungsen.  Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport, on Mon. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8.  A funeral mass will be held Tues. at 10:00 am at Queen of the Rosary Church with Father Wojcicki.  

 


Joseph P. Reed

Joseph Paul Reed, 51, of West Mifflin passed away Aug. 15, 2021 at home.  He was the son of the late James V. and Arlene Reed.  Joey will be greatly missed and remembered for his love of his family and friends.  Joey loved all living things from animals to bugs.  He wouldn’t harm a fly.  Next time you see a spider maybe you can be like Joe and let it go.  He loved seeing people happy, cookouts with his family, his nieces and nephews, frisbee and had a fascination with dragons.  He hated the cable company.  He had a great sense of humor and would often imitate Jim Carrey and the Jerky Boys.  If you needed help with anything he would try his best to fix it for you.  He was so kind and gentle.  Not loud or arrogant.  Sweet and generous.

Joanne Prusko

Joanne Prusko, 78, of Glassport died Sunday August 8, 2021. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and Anne (Michaelson) Prusko. She is survived by her nephew Pete (Lisa) Prusko and niece Andrea Prusko. She was preceded in death by brother Thomas Prusko. Joanne grew up in Glassport and lived there for most of her life.  She graduated from Case Western with a Masters in Public Health and Nutrition and spent her career serving in the interest of public health, working for the Indian Health Service on the Pine Ridge Indian reservation in South Dakota, and later for the state of Pennsylvania. Joanne really enjoyed travelling, going as far away as Australia and New Zealand.  She was an avid bowler, bowling with a group at Lokay Lanes.  She equally enjoyed duckpin bowling at Glassport Lanes.  She lived in the moment and always had a positive attitude and a smile.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Friends will be recieved Thursday 3-7pm at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held Friday 12pm at Queen of the Rosary Church. Interment following Calvary Cemetery, Port Vue.

 


Eugene "Gene" Urbanski

Eugene "Gene" E. Urbanski passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Aug. 2, 2021.  Gene was born Aug. 19, 1935 to Clarence and Helen (Dworek) Urbanski and was the youngest of 6 children.  Gene is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate Mickeline "Mickey" (Massaro) Urbanski; brothers Norman (the late Audrey), Edward (the late MaryAnn) and Thomas (Sandy) Urbanski;  brother-in  law Joseph (Mary) Massaro; sister-in-law Philomena Popovich (the late Michael).  God children Karen Pavlecic, Sally Hribar and Tammy Toski and generations of nieces and nephews as well as many other cherished loved ones.   He was preceded in death by brother Deacon Clemens (Jan) Urbanski sister Ann (John) Williams. 

Gene graduated from Glassport High School in 1953, where he was later inducted into the Glassport Athletic Hall of Fame for his successful football and baseball career which led him to Wittenberg University.  GO Tigers!  He graduated from Wittenberg University in 1957 and was instrumental in getting several scholarships for the upcoming students.  Gene was the halfback and safety for the Tigers, a 4 year letterman and was a three-time first team all Ohio conference pick and was also the MVP and captain of the football squad his senior season.  He played center field for the baseball team and won three letters while the Tigers won two conference baseball titles. 

Following his education at Wittenberg, Gene received his Master’s degree at the University of Pittsburgh.  Hail to PITT!  He taught English and coached both football and baseball at Glassport, Monongahela and Burrell High Schools then obtained a position with the Department of Education for 30 years.  He was voted by the Monessen Elks for "Coach of the Year" on June 26, 1964.  Gene became a scout for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1964 to 1970.  In 1987 he was inducted into the Wittenberg University Athletics Hall of Honor for both of his continued football and baseball career as a player, coach and scout.  Gene still loved to watch both college and professional sports.

Anthony D'Angelo

Anthony D’Angelo, 59, of Glassport died July 29, 2021, while vacationing in Mexico.  He is the son of John (Terry) D’Angelo and the late Valeria (Pasinski) D’Angelo.  He is survived by his brothers John (Kim) D’Angelo, Leonard D’Angelo and Callen D’Angelo; nieces Laine D’Angelo, Marissa (Jake) Mervis and Jamie D’Angelo; great niece Noelle Mervis; aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.  Anthony was a foreman for PennDot; a member of Saints Joachim and Anne Parish, PNA Lodge 750 and ABATE.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and “shindigging” with family and friends.  Friends will be received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home from 2-8 Monday. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday 10am at Queen of the Rosary Parish.

 


Frances M. Jaskolski

  On Sunday, July 25, 2021, with grace and love our beloved Frances Jaskolski became an angel. For nearly a century, everything Frances touched came from her heart.  Whether it was baking cookies for a wedding, pouring chocolates for a party, or making dozens of pierogis for a family holiday, she wore many hats. She was head chef, master baker, accomplished chocolatier, head den mother, wartime bullet maker, Jaskolski family CEO, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. And she did it all with love and kindness. Frances sang and danced her way through life with a two-step and a polka. She enjoyed all life’s offerings - blue skies and yellow birds, a good read and a cup of coffee, car rides across the country, game shows and warm tea. She was always a good friend and a consummate social butterfly. What filled her heart the most was her family. They were her greatest accomplishment and source of joy. Frances was proud of every one of them and anything they did.  She loved unconditionally and wholeheartedly, and was a powerful example of love personified.Her smile warmed hearts, her love for life was contagious, and her beautiful soul will live in our hearts forever.  She is the daughter of the late Stanislaus and Sophie Kokolski and beloved wife of the late Anthony Jaskolski.  She is survived by her sons Ronald (Cathy) Jaskolski, Raymond (Gloria) Jaskolski and Thomas (Sheila) Jaskolski; granddaughters Christina, Kim, Jennifer, Dena, Amy, Alison and Emily; great grandchildren Kylie, Sebastian, Lliam, Jonas, Marcella, Enzo, Willow, Harper, Vance, Theodore and Myles;  and a brother Richard Kole.  Frances was a member of Queen of the Rosary Parish; Christian Mothers, Rosary Society and Glassport Senior Citizens.  Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral  Home, Glassport on Thurs. from 2 to 8.  A funeral mass will be held Fri. at 10:00 am at Queen of the Rosary Parish.  Interment following Round Hill Cemetery.

Lora Lynne (Evans) Walz, 53, of Glassport, died July 6, 2021.  She is the daughter of Larry Evans, Sr. and the late Elizabeth (Allen) Evans.  She is survived by her son Michael Walz; brothers Larry “Butch” Evans, Tim Evans and Chris (Dana) Evans; cousin Leeann Klemm, with whom she resided; sister-in-law Netta Goodrich; boyfriend Jeff Gonzales; dear friend Kelly Starr Lueckert; also nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.  She was preceded in death by her sister Tracey (Evans) Wall, nephew Ryan Evans and great niece Kami.  Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Fri. from 1 to 6, at which time a service will be held.

 


Mary Margaret Capp

Glassport resident, Mary Margaret Capp, 91, died July 2, 2021, at Canterbury Place Nursing Home in Pittsburgh, PA. Born in New Castle, PA on May 20, 1930, Mary was the daughter of the late John Joseph and Marcella Reott Marcus, Sr. One of 12 children, she is survived by three sisters, Pauline George of Bethlehem, PA, Carol Cushman of W. Columbia, SC, and Darlene Adkins of Gilbert, SC. Formerly married to the late James F. Czapp, of West Mifflin, Air Force veteran; they were wed in Alexandria, LA. She began a career in nursing at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and later worked as a personal caregiver. Mary Capp is survived by her son, James F. Capp, and wife Maureen (nee Hays) of Pittsburgh, PA, and her one and only grandchild, Daniel James Capp. She was preceded in death by her first child, Lawrence W. Capp (41), who was dearly missed by her and the entire family. Mary was also preceded in death by four brothers, Floyd, Thomas, John and Donald Marcus; and four sisters, Winifred Black,  Roberta Marcus, Annamae Bejger, and Grace Gebhart Banfield. In addition, Mary is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mary was actively involved with the Red Hat Society, Blueroof Technologies, Mon-Yough Healthy Aging Team (MYHAT), the Scrappy Scrabbler Club, and Glassport community affairs. Visitation is Tuesday, July 6, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Wojciechowski Funeral Home, 640 Vermont Ave., Glassport, PA 15045. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 7 at 11:00 a.m.,
performed by Pastor Chuck Owston, of Bryn Mawr Church of Christ, White Oak, PA. She will be laid to rest at Round Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth, PA, alongside her dear son Larry.

 


Dorothy M. Graboski

She is survived by her daughters Lynn (Robert) Barnes and Laurie Graboski; grandsons Robert (Katie) Barnes and Michael Barnes; great-grandson Roman Barnes; sisters Patricia (John) Gatto, and Irene Gusty; also nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death her son Raymond Graboski; brothers Stephen and Robert Kwiatkowski and sister Barbara Kwiatkowski Larkins. Dorothy was a member of Queen of the Rosary Parish.
