June A. Halvorson McElravy, 95, of White Oak, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024, in Mt. View Memory Care Home in Greensburg, PA. She was born June 12, 1928 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late John Halvorson, Sr. and Anna Widen Halvorson. She was the loving wife of Glenn McElravy, who passed away on September 18, 2006. She worked for Bell Telephone of PA in their McKeesport office. She was an earlier member of St. John Lutheran Church in McKeesport where she taught Sunday School. More recently she was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in White Oak where she helped with altar care and was involved with its woman's groups. June belonged to White Oak Chapter 2294 of the American Association of Retired Persons, Pioneers, Eastern Star and served as a volunteer in the gift shop of McKeesport Hospital.

Robert Matibe, age 90 of North Huntingdon, passed away on January 15, 2024. He was born on April 4th, 1933 in McKeesport PA, a son of the late Herman and Coral Pierce Matibe. Robert was a US. Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. He was a retired plumber for Cost Plumbing in Forest Hills and a member of Paintertown Lutheran Church. Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and playing dartball for his church. In addtition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife Rosemary Cupak Matibe, sons Richard and Jeffrey, brother Richard, and sister Betty Reon. Robert is survived by his son Dan (Yong Cha), daughters Cynthia Caninzun and Sue Matibe, grandchildren Alicia Veitch, Leeza Gordon (Casey), Aaron Caninzun, Christopher Matibe (Samantha), Michael Matibe, Diana Matibe, Amanda Bussard (Ben Hank), and Courtney Bussard, and great grandchildren Skylar, Landon, Sofia, Thea, Scarlett, and Robert. Anna Lee (Roberts) Herrmann, age 74, passed away on January 13, 2024 at Jefferson Hospital. Born April 14, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Roberts and the late Jean Louise Callewaert. Anna is survived by her beloved children, Daniel (Michelle) Ellwood, John Ellwood, Maryjean Herrmann, and Rodana (Todd) Gorman. Cherished Nana of Trisha Ellwood, Daniel Ellwood, Morgan (Nick) Beneke, Tyler (Alex) Ellwood, Dalana Gebis, Nicole Ellwood, Brooke Gorman, Aiden Gorman, Ava Ellwood, and Darrin Gorman; great-grandmother of Kaeden, Adryan, Katelynn, and Jayce. Siblings, Marie (Pete) DeHerrera, Edgar (Janet) Roberts, John Hogan, Steven Roberts, Darrell (Pam) Roberts, and Julie (Robin) Barnes. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael David Ellwood, and her sister, Leslie (Kevin) Bohannon. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Those who knew Anna will remember that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her immense happiness, and her greatest joy was found in spending time with her family. Anna’s limitless kindness and caring brought many to regard her as family. She was ‘mom’ and ‘nana’ to many of the friends of her children and grandchildren. As a school bus monitor, she was the kindest of caretakers to her ‘children,’ going above and beyond to make their day special. Anna most loved supporting her grandchildren by attending their sporting events, performances, and celebrating their accomplishments with them. She enjoyed dancing, going to the beach, gardening, and baking sweet treats for her family. Anna leaves behind a legacy of generosity and love, and it was rare to find someone who didn’t just adore her, even after just a short meeting. Her family will forever carry the lessons of love and care that she brought to their lives. Friends will be received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Fri. from 6 to 8. Robert W. Kitta, age 64 of North Huntingdon peacefully passed away on January 12, 2024 at his home while surrounded by family. He was born on April 8th, 1959 in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Peter and Wilma May Fisher Kitta. Bob was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Class of 1977. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Bob was a retired night-shift Clinical Technician at UPMC Western Psych and Resolve Crisis Center. His most cherished hobby was being Pap-Pap to his granddaughter Sophia (Squidget). He also enjoyed long Sunday drives and rides on his Indian motorcycle with his beloved wife Monica. Bob was a member of several charity-based biker organizations. He always looked forward to golfing with his brothers, Dan and Pete. Bob will be greatly missed by his cavachon Dusty. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Carol Mesiarik and sister-in-law Helen Ann Chabanik. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Monica Chabanik Kitta, daughter Ashley (Blake Lloyd), son Adam (Brittany Kluegel), brothers Dan (Patricia), and Peter (Donna), father-in-law William Chabanik, sisters-in-law Linda Carlson, Margaret Ursta, and Roseanne Debruyn, granddaughter Sophia Belle, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Judith Long, age 79 of Clairton, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024 in Jefferson Hospital. Born October 7, 1944 in Meadowlands, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Margaret (Cholak) Piasante. A member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish (the former St. Paulinus Church), Judith worked as a school bus driver for the Bamford Motor Coach of Duquesne. She will be remembered as a great mother who always put her family first. They remember her as always having a forgiving love and for going without so that they could have what they needed and wanted. When she became a grandmother, Judith was always there with unwavering support in their lives, be it for majorette competitions, football games, parades, or anything. They will love and miss her always. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years, Melvin W. Long, who passed away April 6, 2021, her son Anthony B. Koontz, who passed away January 21, 2021, and her daughter-in-law Erin Koontz, who passed away January 29, 2016. A member of Bible Baptist Temple in Jefferson Hills, Joyce worked for over 20 years in the customer service department of Giant Eagle. She raised her family in the former Blair Heights projects in Clairton and was beloved and active in that neighborhood. Joyce worked at the community center there, looked out for everyone, always had a piece of candy for the children, and was an integral part of the community. She will be remembered as a fun-loving, caring, and respected woman who will be missed by all, but by her family especially.

James Joseph Quashnock, age 80, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at home. He retired as an adjuster for Allstate Insurance Company. A veteran of the Air Force and the Reserves, he was a member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael Church in Elizabeth Twp. He loved cars, especially his PT Cruiser, and enjoyed boating on Lake Erie and vacationing in Las Vegas.
