Patricia C. Ziegler, age 70 of Grapeville passed away on March 24, 2024, at Heritage Valley Hospital in Beaver, Pa. She was born June 23, 1953, in Daniels County, Montana, a daughter of the late Clarence and Anneliese Buerger Miller. Patt was a notary for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, spending time at her camp, crafting, and gardening. She is survived by two daughters, Jaime Springel and her husband Rick, Kate Rossetti and her husband Rob, one brother, Howard Miller (Beth), one sister, Barb Loeffler (Tom), 4 grandchildren, Laynie, Monica, Alyssa, and Robbie, nieces, great nieces, and nephews. There will be no public visitation. James W. Richard J. Markette, age 66, of McKeesport, died at home on March 23, 2024.  Born September 12, 1957, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Otto and Dolores (Kappler) Markette and husband of Barbara (Peterson) Markette.  Throughout his life, Richard found joy in the simple things, whether tending to his patients with care and compassion at the hospital or scavenging for scrap metal in his spare time.  Richard was not only a skilled caregiver but alsoan active member and steward of Teamsters Local 926, where he found camaraderie and support among his peers.  His dedication extended beyond the workplace, as he dedicated his time to coaching his son in Little League, fostering a love for sports and teamwork.  A lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Richard cheered on his favorite team through wins and losses, finding solace and excitement in the game.  He also had a fondness for classic rock music, a passion that brought joy and harmony to his life.

Rosalie C. Carter, age 81, of McKeesport, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on March 24, 2024.  Born July 5, 1942, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Louis J. and Vida M. (Laughner) Canova and wife of the late Duane H. Carter, Sr.  Rosalie was a beloved member of the Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Patrick Church, where she dedicated her life to serving her community as an active member of the Christian Mothers, a Eucharistic Minister, and a devoted teacher of Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults classes.  She was not only a devout member of her parish but also the pillar of her family.  As the family matriarch, she selflessly cared for her parents, in-laws, and children, while also playing an instrumental role in raising and nurturing her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her love and compassion knew no bounds, and her presence brought light and warmth to all who knew her.  Her legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all those she touched.

Bernard L. Mayer, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the age of 84. Formally, from Mckeesport, PA. He was the son of Albert E. and Rose Mary (Rice) Mayer.  Bernie served in the United States Army and was the former operator at the former McKeesport Water Authority for over 25 years. He carried a strong faith in God and was a current member of Mary, Mother of God Parish.  He enjoyed riding bikes with his late wife Marcia and was a loving and generous grandfather to Alexander & Tyler Getsy. He was said to be, "Salt of the Earth" by family and friends.Showing the signs of Love, Kindness and generosity.

Frank N. Zic, 94, of Scottdale, formerly of White Oak, passed peacefully on March 20, 2024. He was born December 15, 1929 in Wilson, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna Fodor Zic.  He was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish- St. Patrick Church, in Christy Park. Mr. Zic participated in R.O.T.C. training while at Duquesne University and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.B.S. in Electrical Engineering. As a lifelong employee of US Steel Clairton Works, he held various positions including General Foreman in the Maintenance and Utility Department specializing in high voltage and instrumentation, a relief Superintendent of Utilities, and Division Engineer of Maintenance and Utilities. He also headed up Air and Water pollution testing in the Mon Valley plants before retiring from the Duquesne Works Central Dispatching Office. In retirement he was a past member of Mount Vernon AARP and National AARP; past President and Vice President of the Clairton Works Maintenane and Utilities Supervisor Social club; past President, Vice President and Tour Director of The Elizabeth Twp. Senior Citizens; member of Renzie Park Seniors; Boston Commons Life Span, and participated in the UPMC  “Center for Healthy Aging Program.”  He was co-owner of the E-Z Needlecraft Shop in Boston, worked for the McKeesport Food Bank and did dedicated work with the Elizabeth Twp. Meals on Wheels. He was an avid hunter, bowler, and golfer.

Shirley "Red" A. DiGiorgio, 81, of Port Vue, died March 22, 2024.  She is the daughter of the late Max and Mary (Malik) Golembiewski and beloved wife of the late Joseph DiGiorgio.  She is survived by her sons Jeffrey (Sherri) DiGiorgio and Randy (Beth) DiGiorgio; grandchildren Nicholas (Jessica) DiGiorgio, Danielle (Liam Crossey) DiGiorgio and Wesley (Madi Kirkwood) DiGiorgio; brother Max (Theresa) Golembiewski; niece Hillary Golembiewski and nephew Joe (Jackie) Piccini.  She was preceded in death by her sister Carol Piccini and nephew Justin Golembiewski.  Red was the co-owner/operator of Super Duper Store in Port Vue, but more importantly she was a beloved mother and grandmother, to not only her children and grandchildren, but all who knew and loved her.  Friends will  be received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Wed. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:45, at which time a funeral blessing will be held.

Thomas Frank O’Neil, age 84, of Belle Vernon, PA, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024. He was born in McKeesport, PA on December 29, 1939 and is the son of the late Frank John O’Neil and Evelyn A. Chapman O’Neil Robis. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1960 until 1963. After his military service, he was a bricklayer and later was a security guard at Kennywood. He was also employed at R&J Furniture in the warehouse and storefront, R.U. Moving, Roaring Run Resort, and Fun Time Supplies.

Cecilia A. (Cready) Luffy, of Elizabeth , Pa, age 69, peacefully lost her battle with pancreatic cancer Thursday morning March 21, 2024 with her children and family at her side.  She is survived by her daughter Virginia (John) Altmiller of Elizabeth and daughter Lisa (Shane) Laughlin of Hookstown.  She is also survived by her sister Mary (Kevin) Haisley; brothers John Cready, Thomas E. Cready and Raymond (Maria) Cready along with many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her mother Mary F. (Fogarty) Cready and father Wallace H. Cready, Jr.  Cecilia, lovingly known as Ceil, was born and raised in the Carrick section of Pittsburgh, Pa and was a graduate of Carrick High Schol.  As a former EMT with Large EMS and medical coordinator  for STAT MedEvac, she devoted herself to caring for people.  Ceil also loved the beach, especially Presque Isle Park in Erie, where she visited many times throughout her life.  She also had a special love of dogs.  Over the years she had 3 golden retrievers and lived with the many dogs of her daughter Virginia.  Friends are welcome Tue., March 26, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 and Wed. from 10 to 11 am at the Wojciechowski Funeral  Home, 640 Vermont Ave. Glassport Pa 15045 (412-672-6388).  A committal service will be held Wed. 11:30 am at Calvary Cemetery, 718 Hazelwood Ave. Pittsburgh Pa 15217.

Alice Hampton, 69, transitioned from this life on March 17, 2024, in Pittsburgh, PA.  She was born on October 07, 1954, to the late and beloved parents Lucian Kimbrew and Arvella Copeland Kimbrew. She was preceded in death by her son: Samuel Hampton Jr.; brothers Kenneth Kimbrew, Lucious Kimbrew, and Timothy Kimbrew; sisters Genetta Kimbrew Boston Mann, Viola Kimbrew, and Hazel Cochran.

Alice Hampton graduated from Clairton High School and Bradford Business School with an associate degree in business. She also was a Sunday school teacher at Shiloh Baptist Church in Library, PA under the Pastoral Leadership of James T. Gilliam for many years.  Alice continued to pursue her passion to build up various generations of youth, by opening Hampton Daycare Center out of her home in McKeesport, PA. She utilized her ministry gifts to nurture and teach the young with great patience, passion, love, and wisdom, this created an opportunity for her to become certified to teach. Alice was often requested to participate in Childcare Developmental Seminars as an instructor to enhance their knowledge and skills and to equip them better to support the needs of the children and families that they serve.

Helen Janet Morris, 89, originally of East McKeesport, PA, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024, at the age of 89, at Riverside Nursing Home, McKeesport, PA. She was born March 1, 1935, daughter of late Earnest and Helen (Borek) Morris.   Beloved sister of the late Mary Louise (Richard) Rawa and the late David Morris.  Helen is survived by nephews Joseph (Marlene) Marsh, James (Debbie) Marsh and niece Karen Marsh (John Dallas).  Janet had many great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew. 

Janet was raised in East McKeesport, PA and attended St John’s Lutheran Church there.  She attended school at the Westinghouse High School in Wilmerding, PA. Janet was known to be a very hard worker.  She made a living for herself as a waitress all her life.  She worked for years at the Mountain View Inn and Restaurant near Greensburg, PA and most recently at Carbone’s Restaurant in Crabtree, PA.  Janet also lived in Crabtree.  Janet was a joyful and kind person who was fun to be around.  She will be missed.

She was born November 9, 1942 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Ralph Francis and Edwina (DeWalt) Platt and was also preceded in death by a brother Gordon Platt. Gail received a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and was a retired English teacher for the Norwin School District. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Irwin, and also a member of the Women’s Club, the Book Club, the Welcome Wagon, Sweet Adelines, and The Muses theater group. She authored two books, Tales from Tinker Run and Irwin Abstracts, wrote poetry, and taught music at the Norwin YMCA.

Born June 27, 1933, a daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Papp) Baacke, she is also preceded by her husband of over 46 years Joseph T. Harbadin, her sister Carol “Vergie” Cehlar and brother Wilbur “Billy” Baacke.

After helping her father raise her three siblings, she raised 5 children of her own with her husband and was sole caregiver for many years for Joe who suffered from multiple sclerosis before his passing.
