Larry Hartos, age 69, of Duquesne, died Sunday, March 18, 2018. He was born September 20, 1948 in McKeesport, the son of the late Arthur L. and Blanche Melcarsky Hartos. Larry was employed at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory as an industrial electrical technician for thirty-eight years. He was the board president of the White Oak American Legion post 701, and former member of the Bethlehem Congregational Church.
ROBERT L. SAPOS age 73, on March 3, 2018, of North Huntingdon, PA,. He was the son of the late Andrew and Helen (Szegedy) Sapos. Bob was retired from sales from Home Depot and also worked at Boyer-Pentek Construction and US Steel Duquesne Works. Bob was a handyman and enjoyed old cars and doo-wop music. He was the beloved husband of 49 years to Karen C. (Boyer) Sapos; father of Kerry Reese of Pittsburgh and Kim (Sean) McMurray of Wexford; Pap Pap of Shane McMurray and Cade McMurray; brother of Dennis (Cathy) Sapos of Rankin, Sharon Sapos of North Carolina, and the late Andrew Sapos, late David Sapos and the late Ruth Weber; brother-in-law of Denny (Lynn) Boyer and Debby (David) Ackerman; also survived by nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. John David Patrick, 63, of McKeesport, died Saturday, March 17, 2018 at home. He was born February 7, 1955 in Youngstown, Ohio, and was the son of Olga (Roshesky) Patrick of Youngstown and the late John Patrick. John was a deacon and choir member at the Norwin Alliance Church and was also a member of Pittsburgh Scottish Country Dance Society and the Tuesday Musical Club. He graduated from Youngstown University with 2 Engineering Degrees. He retired from US Steel - Edgar Thomson Works after 40 years of service. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Carole Sue (Gardner) Patrick, stepsons, Kirk (Niddavone) Zecchini and Keith Zecchini, grandchildren, Dominic, Zachary, Isabella, Eva, and Miranda, great-grandchildren, Julian and Olivia, brothers, Greg Patrick of Austintown, OH, Daniel (Coleen) Patrick of Salem, OH, and Michael Patrick of Ben Avon, PA, sisters, Karen (Steve) Baumgarten of Beachwood, OH, Denise (Frank) DeCenso of Virginia Beach, VA, and Marilyn (Jeff) Carnahan of Norfolk, VA, nieces and nephews. Ilse Hildegard (Schneider) Eichler, 94, of Elizabeth Township, died Friday, March 16, 2018. She was born November 4, 1923 in Plauen, Germany and was the daughter of the late Walther Kurt and Ella Frieda (Schuebel) Schneider. She was the wife of the late Martin Eichler who died February 21, 2010. She was a member of Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth and wife Linda Eichler of Murrysville, Alan and wife Roxanne Eichler of North Versailles, daughter, Wendy and husband Daniel Seager of Lake Park, FL, grandchildren, Kristen Norona and Kaytlin Mooney, Alex, Erich, Adam, Elissa, and Annie Eichler, and great-grandchildren, John, Elisabeth Kay, and Raegan Kennedy.
Carolyn C. Leech, age 75 of McKeesport, died March 16, 2018. She was born February 6, 1943 in Dawson, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Harriett Culler Burec, and wife of the late James N. Leech. She was preceded in death by her daughter Kathryn Reeves.
Chester Leonard Mols, age 94, of McKeesport, passed away peacefully on his birthday, Friday, March 16, 2018, at home. Born March 16, 1924, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late John and Alexandria (Izbicki) Mols and the husband of Dolores (Wise) Mols for over 63 years.
Carl S. "Skip" Mowry, Sr., 76 of West Mifflin, formerly of Duquesne, died March 14, 2018. He is the son of the late Victor E. and Sylvia J. (Miller) Mowry. Carl is survived by his ex wife and constant companion, Norma (Burgman) Mowry; children Christine A. Mowry, Carl S. (Theresa White) Mowry, Jr. and Shari (Willie) Mowry Williams; sister Clara P. Fady; brother Ronald J. Mowry; sister-in-law Marjorie Mowry; pap to 9 grandchildren; pap pap to 9 great grandchildren; also nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard P. Mowry and mother-in-law Ruth F. Lloyd. Carl was retired from US Steel and as head of gate security for Kennywood Park. He was a member of St. John Mark Lutheran Church; US Steelworkers Union; Moose; Kennywood Police and served in the US Navy. Carl was also a boy scout leader for many years. Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne, Tues. 2-8. A private funeral service will be held Wed. in the funeral home.
Helene M. "Helen" McConeghy, age 82 of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 in Southwestern Nursing Center in West Mifflin. Born May 1, 1935 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Nick J. and Sophia (Vukovich) Cisco. A member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton, Helen was a local hairdresser who also worked at the former Thompson's Convenience Store in Elizabeth.
Antonio “Tony” J. Sparico, 83, of West Mifflin passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday March 14, 2018. He was born in McKeesport May 5, 1934 to the late John B. and Marie Anna Rera Sparico. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia A. Lister Sparico; son, Anthony (Trina) Sparico of Upper St. Clair; daughter, Jannine (Bert) Ackerman of West Homestead; grandchildren, Megan (Alex Gennari) Sparico, Tracy Johnson, Anthony (Amanda) Sparico, Natalie Sparico, Annalee Sparico; great-grandchild, Wyatt Antonio Johnson. Along with his parents, Tony was preceded in death by daughter, Kristin Sparico; brother, Peter J. Sparico and sister Mary Antonella. He resided in West Mifflin for most of his life, served in the US Army during the Korean War, was employed by US Steel National Tube Plant in McKeesport and Hechingers in West Mifflin, was a lifetime member & past president of West Mifflin #3 VFC, enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, his grandchildren, Carmella (his dog), was a member of VFW Post 914 in West Mifflin. Theresa (Uziel) Kuzio, of Virginia Beach, VA, formerly of Glassport, died March 7, 2018 in Franklin, MA. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Raszewski) Uziel. Beloved wife of the late Joseph W. Kuzio., whom she married on July 1, 1950 at Holy Cross Church. She is survived by son Mark Kuzio of Belfast, ME, daughter Mary Anne Lindner of Virginia Beach, VA and son Neil Kuzio of Franklin, MA; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; brothers Stanley Uziel of Glassport, Eugene Uziel of Monroeville and sister-in-law Dolores Nizanty of Hollywood FL. Her brother Valentine Uziel and wife Irene were a special part of Theresa and Joe's life, sharing many special moments over the years. Theresa will be remembered as a loving, dedicated mother and wife, her great fortitude through difficult times and teaching her children many valuable life skills through example of "where there's a will, there's a way." Always greeting family and friends alike with a warm smile, she will be remembered for her optimism and supportive nature. We will always be grateful and will keep her in our hearts. A Requiem Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by the Rev. Gregory Madeya at 10 a.m. March 17, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Church, 1907 Eden Park Blvd., McKeesport, for James M. Verrier Jr., who died in 2016, and his wife, Patricia, who died last month in Springfield, Va.
The Verriers were cremated in Virginia and will be inurned in St. John's Cemetery following the Mass.
The Verriers are survived by daughter, Jennifer Verrier, a son, James Verrier III, and a sister-in-law, Juli Verrier.
