Alvin F. Coughenour, Sr., age 89, of Elizabeth, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 in Grandview Estates. He was a retired press operator with Swank Industries in Large and former co-owner of Flowers by Ann of Elizabeth. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Elizabeth Baptist Church. Born September 18, 1931 in Elizabeth, he was a son of the late William C. and Temperance (Smart) Coughenour and husband of the late Anna M. (Slavick) Coughenour. He is survived by his sons, Alvin F. (Sheila) Coughenour, Jr. of Elizabeth and Keith A. (Bridget) Coughenour of Franklin Park; four grandchildren; Jason Coughenour of Elizabeth, Larissa (Jason) Driscoll of Herminie, Garret (Jami) Coughenour of Elizabeth and Alayna Coughenour of Franklin Park; seven great-grandchildren; also, nieces and nephews.

Maria (Mozzi) Conedera

Maria (Mozzi) Conedera, age 94 of Clairton, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2020 in the company of the caregivers at Harmon House, Mt. Pleasant, who loved her dearly.  Born April 12, 1926 in Borgonovo Val Tidone, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Primo and Giuseppina Mozzi.  Maria moved to the United States in 1950 to be with her beloved husband, the late Riccardo Conedera, who passed away November 13, 2000.  She was a proficient seamstress, retiring from J.C. Penney's, and was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare of Assisi Church and the Italian Sons and Daughters of America.  Maria was an avid gardener, and her cooking was legendary.  When you visited Maria, you were always welcomed and blessed with a meal fit for a king.  She was loved by everyone that crossed her path and will be deeply missed.

Richard Restagno, age 77 of West Mifflin, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at UPMC McKeesport. Born March 29, 1943 in Avella, he was a son of the late Frank D. and Josephine (Salen) Restagno. He worked for his family's grocery store, Restagno Market and  owned game rooms in Clairton. Richard also worked for South Hills Disposal, Allstar Cadillac, and Arnoni Development. He was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross (Holy Spirit Catholic Church) and a 46 year member of the Elks.

After a long battle with cancer, Carol Ruth (Sharpnack) Thompson, age 75, of West Newton passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN. She retired as a secretary for GMAC in St. Petersburg, FL and she worked part-time with her late mother at Sandcastle and Kennywood. She enjoyed traveling and sports. Born June 24, 1945 in Teaneck, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Thomas E. and Caroline (McLaughlin) Sharpnack. She is survived by her daughter, Nancye (Shaun) Hill of Manchester, TN; grandson, Austin Kistler of Manchester, TN; sister, Peggy (Ron) Mizla of Morgantown, WV; also, many cousins. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Monday, November 30, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 12 Noon in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Marvin C. Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp. In order to comply with Covid-19 restrictions, attendance will be limited to 50 people at any given time inside the funeral home. Guests are required to wear masks and follow CDC social distancing guidelines. You may be asked to limit your visiting time so that all guests will have an opportunity to pay their respects. Lynda Springer, age 61 of Greenock, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020 in UPMC McKeesport.  Born January 29, 1959 in McKeesport, she is the daughter of Wayne C. and Patricia Ann (Kushner) Ludwick of N. Myrtle Beach, SC.  Lynda operated SpeediKeys, her own medical transcription business.  She joins her husband of 37 years: the late Gary R. Springer, who passed away October 22, 2019.  Besides her parents, Lynda is survived by her sons Steven Springer of Monroeville, Jason Springer of Ft. Myers, FL, and Justin Springer of Elizabeth Twp.; her two brothers Eric (Nancy) Ludwick of Elizabeth Twp. and Brian Ludwick of Miami, FL; her niece Jenna; and her nephew Ethan.

Helen Lowney, age 99 of Parma, OH and formerly of McKeesport, passed away at home on Saturday, November 21, 2020.  Born February 24, 1921 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Steve and Amanda (Jandrillic) Mihalevic.  In her spare time, Helen loved to craft, solve word search puzzles, but, most of all, spent time with her adoring family.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Albert F. Lowney, who passed away December 11, 1992, and her brothers Joseph and John Mihalevic.  Helen is survived by her children Stephen Lowney of Berea, OH, Joseph M. (Lisa) Lowney of Louisville, OH, and Alberta Lowney of Parma; her grandchildren Amanda Jean Lowney, Amanda Frances Parsons, and Alesha Gershan; and her great-grandchildren Winslow Catherine Parsons and Audrey Gershan.

Alfred L. Cadena, age 83 of Clairton, passed away at home on Sunday, November 22, 2020.  Born October 3, 1937 in Clairton, he was a son of the late Alfred and Emma (Hrvacic) Cadena.  A former Pennsylvania National Guardsman and member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish (the former St. Joseph's Church, Clairton), Alfred worked for many years in buildings and facilities department at US Steel - Clairton Works.  He had an extreme fondness for cars, whether it be their repair, collection, or even the die-cast models.  He had a passion for westerns, classic country music, and old time television, especially Perry Mason and Gunsmoke.  Alfred was a handy person who was always available, and happy, to help.  But most importantly, his family will remember his as a generous soul who dearly loved his family.  Besides his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by his sisters Emma (John) Berchok and Lillian (the late Lewis) Martini.  He is survived by his sister Bernadette (the late Sylvester) Mazza; his nieces and nephews Michele Mazza, Jeffrey (Megan) Mazza, Brian (Gwen) Berchok, Jacqueline E. (Joe) Ciotti Herrle, Mark (Sally) Martini, and Lisa (Bryan) Smith; and his great-nieces-and-nephews Brian, Jocelyn, Olivia, Madeline, Lilliana, and James.

Helen Ferketic, age 94 of Greenock, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 in Gilchrist Center Hospice in Towson, MD.  Born January 17, 1926 in Versailles, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Amelia (Skobar) Frketic.  A member of St. Michael's Parish in Elizabeth Twp. and the CFU Lodge #146 of Versailles, Helen worked at the McKee Stewart Co. for 35 years and with Ruben Furniture for 27 years.  She is survived by her sister Betty Oeler of Towson, MD, nieces Kathleen Fagan and Karla Oeler, and nephew Robert Fagan.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Kathryn Fagan.

Ziemke, age 90 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away at home on Friday, November 20, 2020.  Born July 4, 1930 in Victory, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Mena (Smart) Hauser.  A member of Concord United Methodist Church in Belle Vernon, Betty worked as a secretary for the Bob Rodgers Insurance Agency and as a school bus driver for Elizabeth Forward School District.  She joins her husband, the late Glenn Ziemke, who passed away in 1978.  Betty is survived by her children Lisa Ziemke, with whom she resided, Brian (Alicia) Ziemke of Mt. Vernon, and Glenn Ziemke of Vermont; her grandchildren Payton, Seth, Briana, and Benjamin Ziemke; and her sister Barbara (John) Maisch of Belle Vernon.  She was also preceded in death by her sister Alberta Opfer.

She was a former sales associate at Catherine's in Southland Shopping Center. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to all who needed her. She was the perfect example of our lady handmaiden. Born June 12, 1948 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Angelo William and Catherine A. (Viscusi) Molinari. Kessler, were very active in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Suffolk, VA and also taught Sunday school there.  Her family will remember her kind and giving nature.  She is survived by her brother Angelo (Marian) Mincone of Elizabeth, nieces, nephews, great-nieces-and-nephews, great-great-nieces-and-nephews, and many godchildren.  Besides her parents and husband, Sabina was preceded in death by her siblings Christine Shuck, and Frank, Leccio, and Joseph Mincone.

Anna Charney, age 88 of Clairton, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020 in Jefferson Hospital.  Born February 23, 1932 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Estock.  A former clerk at the US Post Office in Clairton, Anna was member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare Church, where she sang in the choir, and a former member of Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church, where she helped with bingo and event scheduling.  She was an active member of the Croatian Fraternal union lodges in Clairton and Versailles and both taught and participated in adult Tamburitzan classes in the area.  She also was a member of the Clairton Anglers Club and maintained a cabin there.  Besides her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband John Charney and siblings John, Michael, Mary, and Joseph Estock.  She is survived by her children Lee Ann (Richard) Yaga of Glassport and Daniel  and John Charney of Clairton; her sisters Margaret Tomasello of Clairton and Helen Hampson of Elizabeth; and also many nieces and nephews.

He loved fishing, woodworking and gardening. Born April 9, 1929, he was a son of the late Esther (Curry) Andrews and husband of the late Grace L. (Akerman) Curry.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Stephen) Britten of Lakewood, OH; son, Gregory (Trudy) Curry of Robinson Twp.; daughter-in-law, Deborah Grimes of Ohio Twp.; granddaughter, Dawn (Kenneth) Jackson of Wintersville, OH; grandson, Justin (Kathleen) Curry of Wallingford; great-grandson, Elliott Curry; brother, John Andrews of Oklahoma; also, nieces and nephews.
