Mary Ellen Skop, 64, of Clairton, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at UPMC Presbyterian. She received her B.A. in Education from St. Francis College in 1974 and was a teacher at Brightside Academy and the Clairton School District for many wonderful years. She would often encounter former students who always approached her with enthusiasm. An avid member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton, Mary had a very strong relationship with God and often reflected on scripture and its application to life. She loved to read both classics and new aged material, preferring to touch the pages rather than use a Kindle. She was known for her quick wit in conversation and ability to make strangers new-found friends. She was a fierce card player and had an exclusive group that met to play at her house on Sundays. She enjoyed decorating for all holidays and often changed her table arrangement in her dining room to match any occasion.

Anne Bretcko Kmetz, age 95, of Sewickley, formerly of Clairton, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019.She was born April 14, 1924, in Clairton, to the late John and Mary (Kuzma) Bretcko. Anne was a lifelong resident of Clairton until her move to Sewickley.  Anne was a 1942 graduate of Clairton High School. She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone and as a merchandise buyer for Skapik’s Department Store in Clairton. She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton.  Anne is predeceased by her husband Andrew A. Kmetz, her son Andrew and daughter Carol Kmetz. She is survived by her daughters Monica Kmetz Cochran (Terry), Andrea Kmetz-Sheehy (Bob), and Tracy Kmetz; her grandchildren Scott Cochran (Kirsten), Christopher Cochran, Caroline Cochran, Elizabeth Sheehy and Jack Sheehy; great-grandchildren Austin, Brooke, and Cameron Cochran; nieces and nephews.

Pauline (Logo) Kendall, age 90 of the Wilson section of Clairton, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 in HCR ManorCare Whitehall.  Born August 27, 1928 in Coal Valley in Jefferson Hills, she was a daughter of the late George and Annie (Tatos) Logo.  A member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clairton, Pauline worked as a waitress at the Golden Gate Restaurant and ran the former Christina's Spaghetti House in Clairton.  She joins her husband, the late Abraham Kendall, and her siblings Mary Evanko, Ann Ulackovick, Julie Trasp, and Basil and John Logo.

Libby was a good mother, a warm grandma, and a very proud great-grandma. She was a devoted sister, a beloved aunt, and loved all children and animals. She was an avid crocheter and a master bread baker. Her family always said, "She had the best buns in town." She was so proud that all of her kids and grandkids are fearless cooks and bakers.

He was a retired maintenance worker for the Elizabeth Forward School District and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Born February 17, 1951 in Forward Twp., he was a son of the late Capt. Earl M. Stidard Sr. and the late Harriet (Martin) Stidard. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda (Kozemchak) Stidard; children, Earl M. (Becki) Stidard III of Elizabeth and Lora (Scott Peterman) Safran of Pleasant Hills; grandchildren, Ethan, Lilly, Eli and Aleksa; sister, Leah (Eugene) Palmer of Clairton; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Sylvia, Gerald and Harriet. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Panico, who passed away July 7, 2003, her son Anthony Todd Panico, and her sister Marian Spencer.  Claire is survived by her children Theresa (Barry) Huebner of West Newton, Timothy Panico of Herminie, and Ted Alan (JoAnn) Panico of Versailles; her seven grandchildren; her seven great-grandchildren; her siblings Catherine Euabank of Virginia, Lorraine Knestaut of Morgantown, WV, and Anthony Stephens of Pittsburgh; and also nieces and nephews.

Brown, age 95 of Clairton, passed away Friday, April 5, 2019 in Jefferson Hospital.  Born October 10, 1923 in Elizabeth, he was a son of the late George H. and Jennie (Harkness) Brown.  A US Army Veteran of World War II, Kenneth was a member of St. George's Antiochian Orthodox Church in Oakland and retired from US Steel's Clairton Works.  He is survived by his wife of 67 years Evelyn (Green) Brown; his siblings Sharon (Vernon) Shotwell of Spring Hill, TN and Don (the late Clementine) Brown of Yardley; and also many nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his brothers Russell, Richard, and George "Dale" Brown.
