Victoria Ann Craig, 72, of White Oak, passed away on December 25, 2024 at home. She was born on January 1, 1952 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Robert L. Sr. and Sarah Jane (Dietrich) Kurka. She was the beloved wife of the late William C. Craig who passed away on January 27, 2022. She worked as a sales representative for Gala Jewelers and as a devoted mother to her family. Victoria was an avid bibliophile and very passionate about the Christmas holiday.

William “Bill” Alfred Filer, 72, of Hollywood, FL., formerly of Elizabeth Township, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024. He was born August 5, 1952 in Waynesburg and was the son of the late Alfred William and Marilyn Joyce (Rose) Filer. Bill was a member of Bethesda United Presbyterian Church, Elizabeth and was retired from the US Postal Service in Florida. He was a 1970 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School. Bill enjoyed games of chance, watching old TV shows and tinkering around with things. He was great with his hands and was a hard worker. He was also a devoted lifelong fan of Terry Bradshaw and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is survived by his sisters, Robin Lynch of Pickerington, OH., and Shelly F. Ostroff of Jefferson Hills, brother, Kevin (Tammy) Filer of Smithton, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Darin Filer. Michelle "Shelly" Ann Hrizo, 63, of McKeesport, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2024. She was born April 11, 1961 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Edward W. Hrizo, Sr., and the late Maryann (Matta) Hrizo. She was a member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish-Queen of the Rosary Church, Glassport. She was a 1979 graduate of McKeesport High School and was a retired Payroll Clerk for Allegheny County. She was the Office Manager at Mount Vernon Cemetery and was also Secretary of the Edwin R. Crawford Foundation. She is survived by her brother, Edward W. (Diane) Hrizo, Jr. of West Mifflin, sisters, Rita M. (Jimmy) Hughes of Frisco, TX., and Rose M. (Jim) Oelschlager of Bridgeville, nieces, Angela (Bobby) Grossic Kristen (Matt) Salim, and Molly (Joe Wyzkosi) Oelschlager, and nephew, Matthew Oelschlager, great nephews, Braydon Grossic and Caiden Salim, great-niece, Aubree Grossic, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and her beloved cat, Henley. Patricia "Tricia" Shaw Warren, 72, of Washington, formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024 after a brief illness. She was born July 8, 1952 in Pittsburgh, and was the eldest daughter of the late Ira Dayne and Patricia (Jaycox) Shaw. Tricia attended high school with her husband, Steve, at Elizabeth Forward, and were graduates of the class of 1970. She went on to graduate with a bachelors degree in Economics from Grove City College in 1974, and Boston University for a graduate study in Communications. She worked for WTAE as a news producer while her husband attended law school at Duquesne University. When Steve served as an attorney in the U.S Navy Jag Corps in Norfolk, VA., Tricia raised their two children while doing free lance production for a local cable station. Later on, when they returned to Washington, still raising the children, she pursued a passion as a water color painter and potter while Steve worked as a trial lawyer in Pittsburgh. She painted many landscapes from this area and of their travels around the U.S and abroad. She particularly liked to paint the various changing seasons at their farm pond in Greene County. She belonged to the McMurray Art League and was also invited to be a member of the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society. She and Steve shared a love of nature and the arts throughout their marriage.

Adam Blake Carter, 40, of Swissvale passed away peacefully in his sleep, Tuesday, December 17, 2024. He was born January 26, 1984 in McKeesport and is the beloved son of Jeffrey and Mary Ann (Karlovski) Carter of Buena Vista. Adam graduated from Elizabeth Forward High School in 2002 and attended Allegheny Community College for Paralegal. He had a big heart, and was so full of compassion. He loved to make people laugh and smile. He appeared as a comedian at the Funny Bone Comedy Club in Pittsburgh, a free-lance writer, and a server. Him and his daughter were Batman and Star Wars fanatics. He was always so proud of her, and loved her so deeply. Adam believed in and loved the Lord and at times would attend Mass at Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish - St. Michael Church with his daughter. He will be forever missed.

Elaine J (Williams) Apfelthaler "Nan", 85, of Elizabeth, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024. She was born on June 1, 1939 and was the daughter of the late David and Helen (Musisko) Williams. She was the loving wife of her husband, William L Apfelthaler. Elaine was an Elementary School Teacher at Central Elementary where she taught 2nd Grade for many years. Teaching was Elaine's passion and she taught so many children how to read and provided a strong and nurturing environment for all to strive to learn. Elaine was a member of Bethesda United Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth and was very involved in fundraisers for numerous charities. She loved cooking and baking and last year, with the help of her dear friend Kathy Allegre, baked all of the incredible cookies for her grandson's wedding. She was a Steelers fan and never missed a game, Let's Go Steelers! In addition, Elaine loved to read and travel the world with her husband and their friends. Above all and most importantly, she loved her grandchildren and husband.

James Leland Smith of Liberty Borough, passed away on his 93rd birthday, Sunday, December 8, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 8, 1931 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Clarence J. and Aurelia D. (Nix) Smith. James was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, White Oak and was also a member of the former St. John Lutheran Church in Glassport where he served as President of Church Council. He was retired from Teledyne Firth Sterling and was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. For his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. James was a member of the Glassport and Port Vue Old Timers Softball League, worked with Junior Achievement through Teledyne and also coached Little League Baseball. He always enjoyed watching his grandson, Jared’s Baseball and Basketball games over the years. He was a 1949 graduate of Glassport High School.

Robert Norman Walter, 95, of Elizabeth Township, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024. He was born on November 7, 1929 in Boston, Elizabeth Township and was the son of the late Ralph Charles “R.C.” and Anna Mae (Rainey) Walter. He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy Mae (Greenewald) Walter, who passed away September 22, 2017. He was a member and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Boston; Mon Valley Radio Control Model Airplane Club and the Keystone Clippers R.C. Club; Member and past president of Boston, Greenock, Mt. Vernon Lions International Club, where he chaired the District 14B Lions International Drug & Alcohol Awareness Program for which he received the Lions Presidential Recognition Award; and was on the Board of Directors for Mt. Vernon Cemetery. He also was a past member of the Civil Air Patrol and Boy Scouts of America and a volunteer at the Boston Fire Hall Search and Rescue. Robert worked for Kelsy-Hays Wheel Company in McKeesport for three years then joined in the start-up of R.C. Walter and Sons Hardware and Roofing Company, where he worked until his final retirement in 1996.

Dolores T. “Dolly” Kehrer, 87, of White Oak, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024 with her loving family by her side. She was born May 5, 1937 in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of the late Harry and Stella (Sikora) Winniewicz. She was the wife of the late Thomas Kehrer, who passed away November 16, 2007. Dolly was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was her family being around her. Dolly loved playing poker, going on trips to the casino, taking road trips to the beach, camping and going out to eat. She will be greatly missed.

Christy Ann Goodman, 53, passed away Monday, November 18, 2024. She is survived by her two daughters, Falyn Snyder of Phoenix, AZ, and Jordyn (Snyder) Williamson of Odessa, Fl; father, Donald Goodman of Mckeesport, PA; sister Dana (Goodman) Novak of Safety Harbor, FL; grandson Maverick Williamson; sons-in-law Shawn Williamson and Garrett Nickelsen; brother-in-law Matthew Novak; and niece Emily Novak. She is predeceased by her mother, Janice Goodman, and sister, Michelle Goodman.
As the middle child of three daughters, Christy was known for her quiet and reserved demeanor, which contrasted with her cheeky sense of humor as an adult. She was an exceptional cook; her cheesecakes were particularly coveted during the holiday season, and you knew you were special if you were lucky enough to receive one. A native of Pittsburgh and a lifelong Steelers fan, Christy loved watching her team win this season and was hopeful for another Super Bowl victory.
Her greatest achievement was being a mom to Falyn and Jordyn and a proud grandmother to “little Mav.” She also took immense pride in her niece Emily.

Alice G. Saxon, 73, of White Oak, passed away on December 3, 2024. She was born on August 5, 1951 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Arthur Lauren and Helen Virginia (Burgh) Groves. She was the loving wife of Roy N. "Buzz" Saxon. Alice was a 1969 graduate of McKeesport High School, she went on to Point Park University where she recieved a Bachelor's degree in Education, then a Master's degree in Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After college she returned to her alma mater as a teacher for many years before becoming the school's Guidance Counselor. She was a member of First Evangelical Free Church in McKeesport. She served as an officer in the White Oak Junior Women's Committee and McKeesport College Club. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the McKeesport PTA.
