Ruth V. Harr, 91, of Liberty Borough, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at home. She was born September 8, 1925 in Liberty Borough and was the daughter of the late Edwin A. and Bessie "Virginia" Thompson Elliott. She was the wife of the late Jack Harr who died September 23, 1998. Ruth was a member of the First Christian Church-McKeesport and it's Senior Sonshiners.

Helen Wirbicki, 82, of White Oak, died Wednesday December 28, 2016. She was born July 30, 1934 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Balog Matlos. She was the wife of the late Julius A. Wirbicki who died July 17, 2004. Helen had worked for Minerva Bakery in McKeesport and the former Feigs Bakery in White Oak. She was a volunteer for the McKeesport Meals on Wheels.

Dr. Robert J. "Arch" McCormley, 87, of North Huntingdon, formerly of North Versailles, died Monday December 26, 2016 in UPMC East, Monroeville. He was born June 22, 1929 in Clairton and was the son of the late Joseph and Katherine "Kitty" Flynn McCormley. Dr. McCormley was a graduate of Clairton High School and received his chemistry degree from Pitt. His career began as a chemist for the Pennsylvania Industrial Chemical Co., then, while still working in the lab at Picco- attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine- graduating in 1962.

Russell Charles Peckman, 84, of Ashburn, VA, formerly of Elizabeth Twp, died Saturday December 17, 2016 at home. He was born September 14, 1932 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Floyd E. and Barbara J. Johnston Peckman. He was a member of the Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church, the Bell Pioneers, White Oak American Legion Post 701 and Duquesne McKeesport F & AM Lodge 731.

Ethel Chomanics Hebda, 92 of North Versailles, died Thursday December 22, 2016 at her home. She was born June 19, 1924 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late John and Anna Duhony Chomanics. She was the loving wife and best friend of the late Ted Hebda who died July 18, 2008. She is survived by her loving daughters, Kathi (Jim) Lipesky and Cindy Donnelly, her 3 adoring granddaughters, Thea (Shauna) Lipesky, Kate (John) Kelley, and Jamie (Dan) Lipesky, as well as 4 adoring great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Caitlin, Josephina and Ted, and nieces and nephews.

Frankie Lynn Varasse Mossburg, 61, of Port Vue, ,died Friday December 16, 2016. She was born July 13, 1955 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Frank Joseph and Abigail Mary Campbell Varasse . Frankie was a member of St. Patrick Church in Christy Park, and was also a member and Union Steward of Local 205. She retired from UPMC McKeesport Hospital after 20 years of service.

The final laps that he would face on the Batten Speedway, a challenge far beyond anything else. Rex, with his bright brown eyes and large, toothy smile, took on what most would call impossible. He had the world in his hands and knew exactly what to do with it. The Batten Speedway was the most dangerous racetrack in the world, only the toughest and bravest dared to take on its treacherous trail. Rex was ready for the fight.

Robert D. Ludwick, 80, of Liberty Borough, died in Saturday December 10, 2016 at home. He was born August 30, 1936 in Buena Vista and was the son of the late Clyde and Evelyn Brown Ludwick. Robert was a retired Plumber and was a member of the Plumbers Union Local 27. Robert served in the US Army during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Katherine A. Eicher Ludwick, sons, Robert Ludwick of San Antonio, TX, and Jeffrey Ludwick of Springfield, VA, daughter, Lori Ludwick of Alexandria, VA, step-son, William A. Eicher of Chicago, IL, step-daughter, Bobbie Lynn Eicher of Atlanta, GA, brothers, Clyde R. "Russell" Ludwick, Jr., of Overland Park, KS, and Wayne (Pat) Ludwick of Elizabeth Township, grandchildren, Luke Eicher and Jacob Martin, nieces and nephews.

Alan A. Schick, 80, of Elizabeth Township, formerly of Squirrel Hill, died Friday December 9, 2016. He was born April 3, 1936 in Pittsburgh and was the son of the late Fred A. and Katherine Schick. Alan was a Electrical Engineer. After enjoying an early retirement, he traveled the world and had visited 52 countries. He is survived by his companion of 23 years, Lin Thorne of Elizabeth Township, and his brother, Donald Schick of Tulsa, OK, and cousins, Ginny Schick of Pittsburgh and Pat Oswald of CO. There is no visitation.

Lois worked for US Steel Christy Park Works from 1942-1945 and US Steel Duquesne Works from 1947-1957.

William "Bill" Francis Piper, 86, of Elizabeth Township, died Thursday, December 1, 2016. He was born February 11, 1930 in Clairton and was the son of the late William and Marguerite Conway Piper. He was a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Township, and the Elizabeth Township Senior Citizens and also enjoyed Square Dancing. He was a volunteer for the Central Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels. Bill was retired from US Steel Irvin Works.
