Mary Ellen Le, 80, of North Huntingdon, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022 at home. She was born December 21, 1941 in Duquesne, a daughter of the late Milan and Frances (Palovich) Zarak. Prior to her retirement in 1999, Mary Ellen was a Business and English teacher for Penn Trafford High School for 30 years and the middle school for eight years. She enjoyed life and deeply loved her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, George and John Zarak. Renee R. DiBiase, age 76 of Bristol Rhode Island died Monday, October 24, 2022. She was born August 17, 1946 in Braddock, Pa., a daughter of the late Henry and Ruth Balowitz DiBiase. Renee graduated from Wilmerding Westinghouse Memorial High School Class of 1964. She received her Bachelor degree in nursing from the University of Delaware. Renee was a Vietnam Veteran having served as a registered nurse for the Navy Nurse Corps where she retired as a commander. She enjoyed sailing and kayaking. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister Toni Dempsey, her nephew, Blaine Messick. John L. Gilliland, 84, of Arona, formerly of Panther Hollow, Oakland passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at home. He was born December 5, 1937 in Oakland, Pa. Prior to his retirement, John was a brakeman for Union Railroad and a veteran of the US Navy. He was a member of Bill & Rae’s Pool League in Herminie and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles and Chester; and sister, Dolores. Michael R. Megon, 65, of Trafford, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at his home. He was born June 25, 1957 in Cleveland, OH, a son of the late Richard and Carmella (Meli) Megon. Michael was currently an insurance agent for Century Insurance Consultants in Monroeville. He was a member of St. Agnes Parish and a graduate of Penn Trafford High School Class of '75. He was an avid golfer, Lego enthusiast, Pittsburgh Pirates fan and diehard Cleveland Brown fan, and especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Antoinette (Kardos) Remaley “Toni”, 82, of North Huntingdon, PA, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022 in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Toni was born November 27, 1939, in East Vandergrift, PA, to the late Nicholas J. and Anna M. (Kromka) Kardos. She graduated from Washington Township High School in 1957, and was a majorette with the Thunderers Drum and Bugle Corps. Toni met her life-long companion, Frank Remaley, while she was working at G.C. Murphy in Vandergrift. Frank and Toni married in June of 1960, and at the end of April, 1963, they welcomed their only child, Lou Ann. Toni was a stay at home mom, always there to offer her daughter and her Ward Drive friends rides, and advice when needed. She always attended Mass on Sundays at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in North Huntingdon. Through the years, Toni enjoyed camping and weekends with her family at Morraine camp lands, and later, traveled with her husband throughout the country, visiting casinos, and dog and horse racing tracks. One of Toni's favorite things was family dinners, and for many years, Toni was her grandson's biggest fan. She traveled far and near to watch Dante play in countless baseball and hockey games. She was always there to offer a smile and to cheer Dante to victory. Toni easily made friends, finding the best in everyone, and for her husband and daughter, she was the calm in the storm with the patience of a saint. In addition to her parents, Toni was preceded in death by brothers, Paul J. Kardos, Patrick Kardos, Nicholas Kardos, and sister Elizabeth Plazio. Toni is survived by her her loving husband of 62 years, Frank Remaley, daughter Lou Ann and her husband Greg Youhon of North Huntingdon, her grandson Dante and his wife, Melissa Youhon of Pittsburgh, PA., siblings, Loretta Kardos of Washington Township and Joseph (Carol) Kardos of West Leechburg, sister-in-law, Juanita Kardos of North Apollo, and many nieces and nephews. Alan M Pavuk of North Huntingdon ran to the Father on Saturday, October 15, 2022, after a 17 week battle with a malignant brain tumor. Born November 18, 1952, in McKeesport, he was the second child of Joseph M and Eleanor (Peterson) Pavuk. He graduated from Norwin High School in 1970 and Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1974. He was employed on the pipe production line of the Electric Resistance Weld US Steel-Camp Hill McKeesport plant, retiring in 2014. Alan cherished making memories by traveling- first with his parents on bus trips and later with his sister to New York, North Carolina, Florida, and California for family events. He had an amazing mind for details and loved learning, with a sweet tooth to rival Buddy the Elf. Shopping to find the best bargain brought him great delight in addition to watching classic comedy shows, attending car cruises, and supporting local farmer and craft markets. He had an eye for colorful gems, glasswork, decorative lights, and clothing. Radio programs from short wave to AM, local to international were part of his daily schedule. His greatest passion was music of wide genres from 1960s rock to reggae, ska, and sea shanties. Alan supported many independent local and international musical artists in his extensive audiovisual library. He was a member of St Mary's Romanian Catholic Church and attended Free Hungarian Reformed Church both of McKeesport. Alan was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Joseph E Pavuk. He is survived by his sister, Susan Rabe, sister-in-law, Sharon Pavuk: niece and nephews: Megan(Chuck) Stitt, Joel(Erica Gatts) Pavuk, Timothy(Brittany) Rabe, Benjamin(Kelly) Rabe, Noah(Jessica) Rabe: and great nieces and nephews: Adelyn, Josie, and Ira Stitt and Raegan and Elias Rabe. Thomas John Knaus, 75, of North Huntingdon, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022 at his home. Tom was born in McKeesport, Pa. on April 11, 1947. He was preceded in death by his parents, John L. Knaus and Lydia Matias Knaus and baby son, Thomas. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 54 years, Marlene Terek Knaus. He is also survived by his son, Kevin Knaus of N. Huntingdon and by his remarkable grandchildren Juliet, Samuel and Ian, of Indiana Twp. He is also survived by his younger sister, Kathy Jo of Spring City, Utah. Tom grew up in Glassport, and graduated from Glassport High School in 1965. Tom was a fine all around athlete and enjoyed all the sports teams in the area. He was an avid golfer still waiting for the elusive hole-in-one. Tom attended California State College and graduated in 1969 with a bachelor's degree in education. He also received his masters degree in 1974. Tom taught 33 years in the Duquesne School District as an Industrial Arts teacher. Tom was a veteran of the US Army Reserves, assigned to the 46H Replacement Company in Pittsburgh. He received his honorable discharge in 1976. Stanley Hess, 88 of North Huntingdon, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022 at his home. He was born December 4, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pa. ,a son of the late Albert H and Emma Ours Hess. Stanley was a graduate of Logan High School in West Virginia. Prior to his retirement, Stanley was employed as a Lab Technician by PPG and was a former security guard for Burns Security.
