Alexander "Al" Kalin died Sunday, April 14, 2019. Beloved husband of Sandy Kalin (nee Scurle) for 53 years; dear brother of Elizabeth (the late Thomas) Denny; dear uncle of Jennifer (Dale) Conklin and Christopher (Jackie) Denny; dear great-uncle of Norah and Oscar; our dear cousin and friend to many. Al was a 1st Lt. Army in Korea during the Cuban missile crisis. He sang in many choirs, played golf as an excuse to get breakfast, taught confirmation classes for over 35 years, loved theater, opera and symphony. He supported the Art Museum, History Museum, Botanical Gardens, Science Center, St. Louis Zoo, Missouri Historical Society, Opera Theater St. Louis, Winter Opera, Metropolitan Opera and the St. Louis Symphony. Loved animals especially his 6 Wheatens and Kitty. He attended Mt. Airy Seminary in Pennsylvania. He loved to travel and made it to 49 out of 50 states. He was a longtime employee of Huntington Alloys part of International Nickel and retired from Special Metals.

Elizabeth A. Karos, 95, of West Mifflin, died March 11, 2019. She is the daughter of the late Jovo and Anna (Relich) Karos. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers John, Michael, George and Rudolph Karos and sisters Mildred Korach, Anna Wilhelm and Olga Karos. Harriet M. George, of Bedford formerly of North Huntingdon, died March 5, 2019. Carolyn Jean (Wiland) Mihaljevic, beloved wife of the late Joseph Edward Mihaljevic, went home to the Lord February 27, 2019. She was a resident of Fairport, New York, spent her winters in Jensen Beach, Florida and formerly a long-time resident of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. Born May 4, 1933, she was the loving daughter of the late Dorothy Pearl (Morris) Wiland and Norman Russell Wiland and sister of the late Donald Wayne Wiland. Carolyn is survived by her loving children Joseph (Michele) Mihaljevic, Linda (Michael) Bogesdorfer, Kathy (Andy) Mosso, Richard (Lorrie) Mihaljevic, Thomas (Mary) Mihaljevic, and James (Elizabeth) Mihaljevic; also survived by 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Carolyn lived a full life as a wonderful, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her most prized possession was her family and loved travelling for visits, handing down cooking recipes and lessons to create a treasure chest of memories. In her spare time she loved to crochet, cook, travel, read and do puzzles.
She was an active participant at the Perinton Senior Recreation Center exercise programs, crochet club and senior choir. Carolyn was a member of the Church of the Assumption Catholic Church in Fairport, NY where she participated in the Sunday breakfast club, and the card ministry - writing cards to those in need of words of encouragement.
Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne, Sun., March 10, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. A funeral blessing will be held Mon., March 11, 2019 10:30 am in the funeral home with Father Tom Lewandowski. Interment following St. Joseph Cemetery.

Margaret A. Conboy, 91, of Economy, formerly of West Mifflin, died peacefully Feb. 24, 2019. Margaret was a 1946 graduate of Duquesne High School and attended Douglas Business College. She spent most of her life as a loving mother and homemaker. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophia (Kaluznak) Hudosky and beloved wife of the late Edward "Buck" Conboy Jr. She is survived by daughters Mary Ellen (Charles) Netzel of Franklin Park and Laura (Robert) Kahler of Economy; granddaughters Carolyn (Sam) Wolf of Silver Spring, MD and Christine Kahler of New York, NY; great-granddaughter Alice Jean Wolf; also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her cherished son Timothy Conboy; sisters Alice Libak, Ann Adams, and Agnes Janhunen, and brothers Joseph and John Hudosky. Valentine W. Kruszka, Jr., 99, of West Miffflin, died Feb. 21, 2019. He is the husband of the late Mary (Byrtus) Kruszka. He is survived by his daughters Pat (Larry) Pierce of Liberty Boro and Sandy (Bob) Watson of Jefferson Hills; sons David Kruszka of Glassport, Alan Kruszka of West Mifflin and Val Kruszka of Greenock; grandchildren Lisa, Kenneth and Bryan Pierce, Nancy Szinai, Kimberly Kruszka, Billy Valiquette and Marcy Templeton; sister Wanda Buri and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughters Andrea Teoli and Ginny Dzara. Val was a member of Christ the Light of the World Parish; American Legion and Polish Club in Bentleville and the Italian Club. He served in the US Army WWII, where he was a prisoner of war. He served in the Battles at Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Ardennes. Helen M. Magdic, 82, long time resident of Duquesne/West Mifflin, passed away Sunday January 27, 2019 at Shady Side Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Sam and Lottie Rokich. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Magdic and her sisters Gladys George and Dorothy Bursac both of Barberton, Ohio . She is survived by her son Steven Magdic of North Huntingdon and sisters Mildred McVey and Yvonne Obradovich both of Barberton, Ohio. She was an active member of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 320 Duquesne. “Teta” Helen will be sadly missed by all members of her Ohio family as well as her Magdic family nieces and nephews here in Pa. Thomas J. Fahey, of White Oak died January 3, 2019. He is the son of the late Joseph F. and Gertrude (Conley) Fahey. He is survived by his beloved wife Donna (Fogarty) Fahey, who loved him like crazy and son Michael Fahey who was devoted to him; brother Richard (the late Maureen) Fahey; sister-in-law Gail Waite; and many nieces and nephews. Robert Sago, 77, of Corvallis, Montana passed away on December 20, 2018 at Marcus Daly Hospice. He was born on January 31, 1941 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to Edward George and Julia Anchak Sago.
Bob was most likely known through his employment at the local feed store. He started when it was known as Peavey, then it became Lake Milling before it became Lakeland Feed. To his customers, he was affectionately known as “Big Bob” or “Chicken Bob”. It did not seem to matter if you were in the market for chicks, he seemed to convince you that you needed a dozen or more by the time you left.
Bob also loved hunting and fishing with his son Ed and his grandson Kaleb. He enjoyed classic Mopars and attending car shows in the Spokane Valley. He also enjoyed sitting in the garden watering his plants.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Roberta Sago.
Robert is survived by his wife Dolores, daughter Rebecca, son Ed, grandson Kaleb (Brittany), great granddaughter Lennon and great grandson Matthew.

William J. Ebertshauser, 83, of West Mifflin died Dec. 18, 2018. He is the son of the late Henry F., Sr. and Claire (Henderson) Ebertshauser and husband of the late Linda Lou (Henry) Ebertshauser. He is survived by his son William H. Ebertshauser and brother Henry F. Ebertshauser, Jr.; also nieces and nephews. Bill was a retired branch bank manager for Union National Bank for over 30 years. Brother Ebertshauser, a Past Most Wide Master of the Pittsburgh Chapter of Rose Croix served the Valley in that capacity in 1984. Following his tenure as Most Wise Master he was elected to the Board of Trustees in 1989. During his service as Trustee of the Valley, he served as Chairman of the Budget Committee. Bill became a member of the fraternity in 1958, joining Duquesne Lodge No. 731 where he served as Worshipful Master 3 times in 1962, 1981 and 1986. He served the 49th Masonic District as District Deputy Grand Master from 1970 to 1979. In 1988 he was elected Secretary of his Lodge - a post he held through 2001. In York Rite Masonry, he belonged to McKeesport Royal Arch Chapter and Duquesne Commandery. He joined the Valley of Pittsburgh in 1962. Bro. Ebertshauser was coroneted a Honorary Member of the Supreme Council, Sovereign Grand Inspector General 33 degree in 1991. He has also received the DeMolay Honorary Legion of Honor. He served in the US AirForce from 1954 to 1957 and was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Duquesne. Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne, Thurs. Dec. 27th from 6 to 8 and Fri. Dec. 28th from 2-4 and 6-8. A masonic service will be held Friday at 7:30pm. A funeral service will be held Sat. 11:00 am in the funeral home. Interment following Jefferson Memorial Park. A memorial luncheon will be held after interment at the Masonic Lodge 1200 Clonmell St, Duquesne PA 15110.

Velma M. (Toots) Whitney, 84, of Buena Vista formerly of McKeesport died Friday December 14, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Janet (Smith) Barker. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Whitney. She is survived by daughters Maureen (Robin) Gault and Barbara (Harry) Serena; sons James (Kate) Whitney and Bruce (the late Colleen) Whitney; sister Janet (Earl) Oyler; brother Dwayne (Marylin) Barker; also nieces and nephews.
