Helen Uhrin passed away peacefully on August 29, 2019 at the age of 91 in North Huntingdon. Born in McKeesport, March 25, 1928, she was the daughter of Phillip and Mary (Lacey) Riley. She was a lifelong resident of the McKeesport area, spent many years in Versailles Borough, and co-owned Eddie’s TV with her late husband, Ed, who passed away May 31, 2006. Walter Robert Frederick, Jr., age 65 of McKeesport, died Friday, August 30, 2019. He was born in McKeesport on September 28, 1953 and is the son of the late Walter Robert and Anna Mae Freund Frederick. Walter was a former member of the Eleventh Ward Club and a member of the McKeesport PNA Lodge #352. One of his favorite past times was watching all of the Pittsburgh sports teams.

Gloria enjoyed knitting, crocheting, word puzzles, bowling, and in her youth, she was an outstanding swimmer and diver. She loved to color so much that she started a coloring club at Locust Grove Personal Care. Gloria was a member of the USO and was also a World War II Coast Watcher. She was a Eucharistic Minister, taught CCD, and was a premarital counselor.

William (Bill) V. Angeloff, 87, of Elizabeth Township, died Tuesday, August 27, 2019 in Jefferson Hospital after a short illness. He was born November 18, 1931 in Pittsburgh, and was the son of the late Velico and Rusa (Athanasova) Angeloff, who emmigrated from Bulgaria. Dad graduated from Carrick High School in 1949 and then attended the University of Pittsburgh, Class of 1958, and was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity. Bill served in the Army during the Korean War (1952-1954). Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Internal Revenue Service; earlier employment was with Union National Bank, Three Rivers Bank and the Beaver Trust Company. Donald James Henry, Born December 14, 1932, passed away August 27, 2019 with his daughter Luette and son-in-law Bobby by his side. Don worked at Roy C. Price Ironworks that became Wheaton and Sons for 55 years. He was an avid gardener and card player. His vegetables were the highlight of summer for many family friends and strangers. Don was the mayor of SWHYKGT for 43 years. He was the oldest living member of The Italian Brotherhood of Guffey Club and a member of the Italian Miners Society. Don loved football. He played for the McKeesport Tigers and was honored by the school for his time playing. He loved Friday night football games at Norwin and McKeesport. He made an impact on everyone he loved and met along the years. He will be truly missed. By the way, as Don said, "Glad I saw ya."

Paul Ernest Hollenbeck, 91, passed away at his home in Knoxville, Tenn., July 29, 2019. He was born in McKeesport in 1927, the son of Elizabeth (Parton) and William Martin Hollenbeck.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a graduate of Robert Morris College, member of the Masonic Fraternity, and the American Legion. His career was spent as a buyer with Westinghouse Electric in McKeesport and later as a manager of quality control with Martin Marietta in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
He leaves his wife of 72 years, Jean Isabel (Haidle) Hollenbeck and daughters Cathy Wieland of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Cynthia O'Hara of Madison, Ala., and Paula Kraemer from Daniel Island, S.C. Charles Joseph Emert was born March 3, 1933 and passed on August 21, 2019 at Mt. Vernon of South Park. Chuck graduated from Central Catholic High School and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He also went to the University of Utah where he received a master’s degree in science. Chuck could tell you anything you wanted to know about the Periodic Table. He was a nuclear physicist at Bettis Atomic Power Lab where he built nuclear reactors for submarines. He retired in 2001 due to family complications. He spent his free time as a cantor at St. Isaac Jogues Church and was a photographer for their services like Communion and confirmations. He was an avid photographer, a great chef, and an astronomer. Chuck leaves behind a loving family including his wife, Mary Ann Emert, his stepchildren, step-grandchildren, nephews, and some close family friends. Visitation will be at the Paul E. Col. Eugene Stanley Lynch, 85, of Springfield, Va., died August 6, 2019. He was the son of Charles and Viola Lynch.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Virginia Lynch who he referred to her as honey or sweetie and first met her as part of his First Holy Communion class 14 years earlier; sons Michael E. Lynch, William S. Lynch, Brian Lynch; daughters Kathleen Pepper, Pamela Ott; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Sammy, and Kristopher Pepper, Michelle Appel and Matthew Lynch, Courtney and Julianna Ott; great grandchildren Ben and Alexis Pepper; brother Henry Lynch; sister Eleanor Nigro; and wonderful nephews and nieces. Gene was predeceased by his brothers Carl and Leonard Lynch, sister Dolores Gabany.
Gene was a Cadet at West Point as part of the Class of 1956. He attended daily Mass at the Catholic Chapel which helped him throughout his four years. He was an excellent athlete and loved playing intramural sports with lacrosse being his favorite. He was a US Army Ranger Paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. He served in the Field Artillery during the Vietnam war. During his military service Gene coached his children’s sports teams and teaching his players the fundamentals. Coach Lynch immensely enjoyed his players improvements over the course of the season and his players loved playing for him. He served as an Usher and handed out bulletins at church.
After retiring from the Army in 1982, Colonel Lynch worked for Applied Research Corporation on NASA programs and later for Metters Industries rising to Chief Operating Officer until retiring from private industry.

Colonel Paul R. Flebotte, Army, Retired, age 79, of North Huntingdon, PA, passed away August 13, 2019. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, the son of French Canadian immigrants. He spent 30 years of service in the Army.
Paul began his military career by volunteering for the draft and enlisting in the infantry. During this period he served one year in Vietnam. After two years he enrolled in Officers Candidate School and received his commission upon graduation. Paul served a second tour in Vietnam. Military intelligence was his specialty. He served most notably as Army Attaché in Saudi Arabia and Morocco and Defense Attaché in Tunisia.

Frances R. Colonna, age 90 of Clairton, passed away at home on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. Born November 7, 1928 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Mariano and Cleria (Calabrese) Rossi. A member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish - where she was a former Lector, Eucharistic Minister and church council member - Frances was also a member of the former Sons of Columbus Ladies' Genova Council #6 of Clairton. She joins her husband, the late Peter Colonna, who passed away August 12, 1992, and her siblings Michael Rossi and Norina D'Antonio. Frances is survived by her children Thomas Colonna of Glassport and Andrea Bischoff of Hillsborough, NJ; her grandchildren Laura Elwell and Jennifer and Leland Colonna; her great-grandchildren Daniel, Benjamin, Sara, Mary, Anna, Holly, Joseph, and William Elwell; her nephew John and niece Claire D'Antonio; and her remaining nieces and nephews.

Edward “Jerry” Benick, age 85 of McKeesport, died Tuesday, August 6, 2019. He was born in McKeesport on Oct. 31, 1933 and is the son of the late George and Rose Lechak Benick and the husband of the late Joyce Daerr Benick who died February 14, 2014.
He was employed at National Tube in Duquesne until he retired. He was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church and enjoyed travelling over the years.
He is survived by his brother, William Benick of McKeesport; sister, Margaret Evans of Rosemeade, California; nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Joyce, he is preceded in death by brothers, John and Albert Benick; and sisters, Elizabeth McCusker, Ann Francis and Rose Mihalo.

Rosemary O. Shipe, née Oeler, 94 3/4 yrs., after nearly 44 years apart, is reunited with the love of her life, John J. "Jack" Shipe. Simul in aeteraum. Married just short of 20 years, they were blessed with 7 children. She attended Thompson Business School in McKeesport and worked as a clerk at USS Duquesne Works prior to marriage and raising a family.
A never-ending curiosity and wonder of the world, love of language, and card playing kept her sharp her whole life. She started the latter as a young girl, joining her mother's card club (her youth and her skill making her the least, well-liked player). High school Latin aided her cross-wording, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy passions to the end.
