Lorraine C. Mossburg, 86, of Forward Township, passed away at home on Saturday, June  22, 2019. She was born July 5, 1932 in Glassport and was the daughter of the late Francis Theodore and Helma Virginia (Smitley) Gouker. She was the wife of the late Donald A. Behanna and the late Earl T. "Jack" Mossburg. Lorraine began her career as a waitress at the Blueflame Restaurant in Jefferson before opening the T & L Restaurant in Elizabeth. She later purchased the Homa Gas Station in Elizabeth and converted it into Mossburg's Restaurant. Her last business venture was Lorraine's Restaurant in Charleroi.

Elizabeth J. Hough Scott, “Betty”, age 85 of Elizabeth, PA, passed away on June 22, 2019.  Her partner, Charles Huffman, her children, best friend, Joyce Evans, and the OSTPA Hospice group, lovingly cared for her at home through her final week.  She was born in Clairton, PA on August 5, 1933 to the late Henry and Bertha Moore Hough.  She is preceded in death by former husband, Alexander T. Scott, and all her siblings.  She is survived by her partner of 14 years, Charles Huffman of Elizabeth, PA; her three children; Perry Spires (Debbie Snyder), Louise Bagwell-Robinson (Charles Bagwell, MD) both from Richmond, VA, and her son Thomas Henry Scott (Elaine Hubbard) from Columbus, GA, and her son-in-law, James Robinson (Sharon) of Hurricane, WV.  Betty was blessed with four outstanding grand-children; Perry Spires, “PJ” (Melanie) of Mt. Pleasant, Emily Gigliotti (Nathan) of Everson, PA, Amy Robinson Alphin (Thomas) of Seattle, WA, and Laura Robinson of Richmond, VA.  She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; Owen and Lily Spires, Amelia, Olivia, and Julia Gigliotti, James Robinson II, and Henry Alphin.  Betty was one extremely hard-working woman!  She had owned and operated two different businesses – Chili’s Place in Monongahela, and MMM Goodies – Homemade Baked goods.  She enjoyed quilting, sewing, making crafts, and was an AVID Longaberger Basket collector.  She also worked for decades as a cook at Falk School at the University of Pittsburgh.  She loved cooking for the children and repeatedly told stories about them and became very close with many of the families.  Betty taught her family, not only the love for Kennywood Park, where her grandfather used to run the pony track, but also the love of the Pittsburgh Steelers.  She was a season ticket holder for 25 years.  Betty’s family will receive guests at S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th St., Clairton, PA 15025 at 4:00 on Tuesday, June 25.  A service will follow in their chapel at 5:00.  Inurnment will take place at a later date. John S. Kovach, 94, of North Huntingdon, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019.  He was born December 29, 1924 in McKeesport, son of the late Steven and Elizabeth (Fulop) Kovach.  Prior to his retirement, John was a machinist for Genuine Tool Company and a WWII veteran having served in the US Army.  John served in the Battery B 489th Coast Artillery Battalion and received WWII Victory Medal and two Bronze Star Medals while serving in Europe.  He was a member of the 11th Ward Club, McKeesport, White Oak American Legion and enjoyed going to his hunting camp at Camp Glenn, Snowshoe.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence McCarthy Kovach; five sisters; and one brother.  He is survived by his sons, Thomas Kovach and his wife, Joanne; John Kovach and his wife, Camille; sister, Grace Balogh; and grandchildren, Kelly (Tim) Mediate, John (Courtney) Kovach, Michael (Felicia) Kovach, Kathryn "Katie" Kovach; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Kace.  Friends will be received at the James W. John A. Swacus, 98, of North Huntingdon, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019.   He was born April 19, 1921 in North Braddock. Son of the late and dear Mary and Andrew Swacus and father of the late Dr. J. Richard Swacus.  John was a graduate of North Braddock (Scott) Schools and the University of Pittsburgh where he received his B.S. and M.E. degrees, and was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army.  He was a member of the Pitt Basketball team 1940-1943 and a member of the Pitt University Letterman's Club.  John was a recipient of Alumni of Distinction Award in 2005 by the Laurel Chapter Panther Club, University of Pittsburgh.  Prior to his retirement, John was a teacher, coach, principal and assistant superintendent serving 37 years in the Franklin Regional School District.  His 1951 basketball team won the WPIAL Championship.  He was a founding member of St. Agnes Church of North Huntingdon, was active in the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Oriss Swacus; son, Dr. J. Richard Swacus; and brother, Paul Swacus.  John will be terribly missed by all who knew him.  Friends will be received at the James W. Alfred Pasek, 84, of Elizabeth Township, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 14, 2019. He was born May 17, 1935 in Brzeziny, Poland and was the son of the late Jan and Mary (Pacocha) Pasek. Alfred was President of Pasek Project Management Services and was a retired Mechanical Engineer and Consultant. He had worked for US Steel, Dravo, and Schneider. He was a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Township and the Jaycees. He received his Mechanical Engineering Degree from Polytechnic of Krakow and served in the US Army Reserves. Alfred enjoyed golf,  especially at the Youghiogheny Country Club where he was a member and Butler's Golf Course where he was a Ranger. He achieved a "Hole in One" at Clipper Shipyard Golf Course on Hilton Head Island, Hole # 4 on February 27, 1997. He was also a USGA Golf Course Rater. Alfred was very proud of his Polish heritage. His favorite way to share his heritage and love of having a good time with friends and family was to share a toast of "Sto Lat ! " which means to enjoy good life, good health, and 100 years of happiness.

Brendan A. McGowan, 18, of North Huntingdon, tragically passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019.  He was born July 12, 2000, in Pittsburgh, the son of David and Darlene (Daugherty) McGowan.  Brendan was a 2019 graduate of Greensburg Central Catholic High School where he was an honor student and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.  Brendan planned to attend the University of Pittsburgh this fall.  He was an all-around sportsman and especially enjoyed playing baseball for Greensburg Central Catholic, NCAA, PAL and various travel teams.  He ran cross country and enjoyed music, gardening, deer hunting, fishing, riding bikes, snowboarding and spending time with his friends.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, David E. Daugherty and paternal grandparents, Judge Bernard J. McGowan and Mary Aileen McGowan, a beloved friend, and his pup Bailey.  He is survived by his sister Kaitlynn McGowan, aunts Kathy (David) Fertal, Mary Ann (Tim) Senecal, uncles Brian J. McGowan and Kevin J. (Cassandre) McGowan, numerous cousins and friends and  two canine companions Hannah and Nia.  Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin.  Interment to follow in Irwin Union Cemetery. David P. Adams, 68, of Murrysville, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 3, 2019, with his family by his side.

Born March 17, 1951, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Michael and Margaret (Skurnick) Adams. Dave was a member of the last class of Westinghouse Memorial High School, and a graduate of Point Park University. He worked for many years for Carclo Technical Plastics in Export and Latrobe, and as a professional photographer for newspapers, other publications, schools, and organizations.

He was a former member and past president of Murrysville Lions Club, and an avid supporter of Franklin Regional Marching Band. He also was a huge Pittsburgh Penguins fan and a longtime member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Export. Most important to Dave was his family, and he was a loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnijean Cooney Adams; daughters Susan Adams, Lisa (Lou) Garbin, Nettie (Eric) Matheny, and Racquel (Chris) Matijak; grandchildren Tori Adams, Saarah Matijak, Samantha Matijak, and Ryan Garbin; foster grandchildren, and one on the way; brothers Ray (Patti) Adams and Bob (Mary) Adams; nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many family friends.

Mary Elizabeth (DeBor) Zwack, age 98 of Clairton, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019.  Born February 22, 1921 in Pittsburgh, she was the third of five children of the late Arcadius Ferdinand DeBoar and Clara (Weis) Debor.  Mary was raised through the great depression, and the great and deadly flu and scarlet fever epidemics that forced quarantines on her home growing up.  After casting aside a litany of ardent suitors, she chose a handsome US Army Sergeant as her husband: the late Michael N. Zwack, who passed away November 24, 2013.  Although she never reached over five feet tall, she could run fast and had a very protective older brother.  She is survived by her daughter Diane Fagot of Clairton; her grandchildren Bridget (Sean) Rieger of Elizabeth and Neil (Julie) Fagot of Pleasant Hills;  her great-grandchildren Kaia, Bodi, and Soren Rieger and Mirielle Fagot; her sister Madelyn DeBor; and also many nieces and nephews.

She was an active member of Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish and spent many years as a CCD instructor. Most recently she enjoyed serving as a Meals-On-Wheels volunteer. Robert Tracy Ziemke, age 93 of Versailles, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.  Born October 7, 1925 in Versailles, he was a son of the late Frank and Emma (Tracy) Ziemke.  A 1943 graduate of McKeesport High School, Robert was a World War II Veteran of the US Army, serving in D Company, 254th Infantry Regiment, 63rd Infantry Division "Blood and Fire."  Robert married the late Mary Lou (Feightner) Ziemke on January 15, 1947, and they stayed happily married for 57 years until her passing on February 15, 2004.  He worked for US Steel's National Tube Works from 1947 to 1960 and Equitable Gas from 1960 to 1991, joining their Equitable Gas Retirees' Club.

Michael J. Uhren, 92, of West Mifflin passed away into the arms of the Lord our God on May 31, 2018. Mike was born October 18, 1926 in Duquesne, PA to George and Elisabeth Uhren.

Mike served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II. When he came home he was a mill worker, house builder and butcher before becoming a mailman, which he did for over 40 years. More importantly, when he came home, he went to Kennywood one day and freeloaded some French Fries from a gorgeous woman from Homestead named Helen Bakota. They would spend the next 70 years virtually inseparable. Mike is survived by his wife Helen (Bakota) of West Mifflin, son Greg Uhrlen (Kara) of South Fayette and granddaughters Kayla and Juliana Uhrlen of South Fayette. Mike was fearless and absolutely adored his granddaughters Kayla and Juliana. They were his pride and joy!
