Shawn M. McGillis, 42, of North Huntingdon, formerly of the Somerset area, died Wednesday March 23, 2016. He was born April 2, 1973 in Jeannette, a son of Elaine R. (Auckerman) McGillis Winchester and the late Robert W. McGillis and was also preceded in death by his wife, Claire (Bennett) McGillis. Shawn was a graduate of Shanksville High School. He resided in Frederick, MD, for a number of years then in Martinsburg, WV, before returning to the area. He was a former technical engineer for 84 Lumber Co.; a member of First Presbyterian Church, Irwin, and enjoyed hunting.

Atanas "Tony" Pavlov, 64, of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 21, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Maria Pavlov for 38 years. He was the owner of Compton’s Construction Company in Trafford for the last 15 years. Dale R. Simon, 56, of North Huntingdon, died at home March 15, 2016. He was born February 1, 1960 in Jeannette, a son of the late S. Ray and Grace (Richards) Simon. Dale was a 1978 graduate of Norwin High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State University and was a journeyman machinist. Dale was a member of L.O.O.M., Lodge 236, Irwin, and enjoyed classic cars, golf, and music. He is survived by siblings, Terri Simon of Forest Hills, Keith Simon and his wife Terry of Gold River, CA, and Valarie L. Drutch and her husband Mark of Murrysville; also his twin nieces Joan and Monica Drutch and many friends.

Arthur J. Nicolette, 93 of North Huntingdon, died Wednesday March 16, 2016. He was born August 22, 1922 in North Huntingdon, a son of the late Jack and Mary (Chicanello) Nicolette and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude (Murphy) Nicolette, a son Lawrence Nicolette, a daughter Sheryl Bonnett, and siblings, Margaret, Dan, Clarence, and Ray Nicolette. He retired after thirty six years’ service with A & M Foodland, Irwin. Arthur was a WWII veteran serving with the Army in the European Theatre of Operations and participated in the Battle of the Bulge as a Sergeant with the 82nd Airborne paratroopers.

Robert “Bob” C. McDade, age 80, passed away Thursday March 17, 2016. He was born March 28, 1935 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Charles and Marion (Deuel) McDade. He was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Irwin where he served as an elder and was known as the handyman. He was a former trustee of the First Presbyterian Church in Edgewood and was passionate about the Boy Scouts where he was an Eagle Scout. He and his wife enjoyed bicycling and participating in the Western PA Wheelmen Bike Club.

Katherine Ann (Lowry) Swope, 94 of North Huntingdon was called home on Thursday March 3, 2016. Kate led a full and fun life. She loved belting her alto parts with her Sweet Adelines and being with her special friends "The Turtlelettes". Being an excellent seamstress, Kate made many of their performance costumes. She also loved to crochet, making cute outfits for babies all over Pittsburgh. Kate loved to travel spending summers in Stone Harbor, performing with her Sweet Adelines in London, and living in places such as Northern Michigan and Mexico on the Sea of Cortez. Kate was known for being witty, patriotic, having a 10 cent novel stash, and being an avid fan of her Pittsburgh sports teams.
