Margaret Miller, age 85, of Crossville, TN, formerly of McKeesport, PA, died September 6, 2025, at Park West Memorial Hospital. Born September 4, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Catherine (Magee) Daugherty and the wife of the late George W. Miller.
Margaret was primarily a homemaker, dedicating herself to creating a warm and nurturing environment for her family. She also held various housekeeping positions over the years. Known for her vibrant spirit and zest for life, she was always on the go, with a passion for travel and exploration. Margaret found joy in experiencing the world around her, whether it was watching captivating plays, visiting iconic landmarks like the Ark Experience, or marveling at the wonders of aquariums. In her later years, Margaret became a cherished member of the 127 Senior Center of Cumberland County, where she held the endearing title of "Sunshine Lady." Through this role, she uplifted the spirits of others by mailing cards to commemorate special milestones in their lives, spreading sunshine to others.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kevin R. Katko, who left us peacefully on September 8, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on March 4, 1963, in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, Kevin was a cherished member of his community and a beloved husband, father, and friend.
Kevin grew up in West Mifflin, where he proudly earned his high school diploma. He was also a graduate of Triangle Tech. He spent much of his life as a mechanic in the construction industry, where his skills and dedication earned him respect from coworkers and clients alike. He was known for his hardworking spirit and his ability to tackle any challenge with a smile. Outside of work, Kevin was a Pittsburgh Steeler fan, enjoyed watching NASCAR, and loved going to the beach with his grandchildren. Kevin was also a pet lover, leaving behind his loyal dog, "Jasper."

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hilary L. Baker Jr., who unexpectedly left us on September 6, 2025, at the age of 76, just a week before his 77th birthday. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran who touched the lives of all who knew him.
Hilary served his country with honor in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. His dedication to service and his family remained constant throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Janet; his parents, Hilary Sr. and Helen; his sister Barbara Hoak; and brother-in-law, Peter Lotz. Betty J. McCormick, age 81, of Port Vue, died September 3, 2025, at Transitions Healthcare in North Huntingdon. Born August 8, 1944, in Port Vue, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Gulasky) Messner and the wife of the late Dennis McCormick.
She is survived by her partner, Timothy Butko. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by siblings, Geraldine Reeves and Richard Messner.

Thomas V. Morrissey, age 80, of White Oak, died peacefully on August 31, 2025. Born December 21, 1944, in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of the late Thomas V. and Sadie (Bergan) Morrissey. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Norene (Kozdras), daughter Kim Kennedy (Tim) and preceded in death by his son Tom Morrissey, Jr. He was a grandfather to four beautiful granddaughters; Emily, Norah, Kelly, and Shannon. He was also 'Uncle T' to many nieces and their families.
Tom's dedication to service extended throughout his life. A proud Army Veteran, he served his country in Germany during the Vietnam War, embodying the values of courage and resilience. After his time in the military, he brought his work ethic to the U.S. Steel, where he contributed at both the National Tube Works and Christy Park. Later in life, he took on the role of Security Officer at the Kane Community Living Center in McKeesport, a position he held until his retirement, ensuring the safety and well-being of those around him.

Carol Sue (Lutz) Macrania passed away on August 23, 2025. Sue passed peacefully at home. Susie is survived by her husband, Jim; four children; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Roberta (John); and nieces and nephews. Her loving family was the center of her life, she enjoyed reading books, and was a fabulous cook. Susie was preceded in death by her parents, brother Eugene, and a grandchild. Diane C. Lieb, age 64, of Liberty Borough, died on August 27, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born October 17, 1960, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Ida (Carrozza) Foster.
Diane dedicated a significant part of her life to her role as a unit secretary and later, as a scheduling coordinator for the South Hills Orthopedic Surgery Associates. Her diligence and kindness in the health care field were a testament to her desire to help others, showcasing her compassionate nature.
An ardent lover of crafts, Diane found joy in creating beautiful pieces that reflected her vibrant personality. She also loved gardening and expressing her personality and passion with her colorful choices of plants and flowers. After a long day of gardening, she relaxed by taking a joyride in her Mazda Miata, followed by a glass of red wine. Her creative spirit shone brightly at the family camp at Mountain Pines Campground, a place where she forged lasting friendships and cherished memories. Diane believed that BALANCE was the key to creating a happy life. However, what brought her the greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, who filled her life with immense happiness and love.

Shirley lived a life rich in love, friendship, and community involvement.
Shirley spent many years working at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, where she contributed her talents and became a cherished member of the Bettis Bowling League. Her warm spirit extended beyond the workplace, as she was an active member of her card club and a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Christ, where she and her husband served as youth leaders, positively impacting the lives of many young people.

James was a lifelong learner, earning an Associate's Degree from Penn State University, a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master's Degree from St. Francis University. His professional career in Human Resources Management was marked by his dedication to fostering positive workplace cultures and supporting unions and labor relations.
He embraced life with enthusiasm; whether it was growing up hunting deer at the family cabin in Tionesta, passionately following his beloved Pitt Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers, or indulging in his love for golf, he cherished these moments, particularly when shared with his sons. The family trips to Disney, fondly referred to as the "Hawthorne Party of 11," and cherished beach vacations hold a special place in the hearts of his loved ones, echoing laughter and warmth that will forever resonate in their memories. A dedicated phlebotomist, Bonnita served with unwavering care at Shadyside, Braddock, Mercy, and McKeesport Hospitals. She was not only committed to her profession but also devoted herself to supporting those in need as a home health caregiver and loving mom. Her gentle spirit and nurturing disposition made a profound difference in countless lives.
Bonnita's passion for community and connection shone brightly in her founding of the Mon-Yough Deaf Awareness Association. Through this meaningful initiative, she organized Christmas parties and events, fostering inclusivity and joy within the community. She was also very active with the Western PA School for the Deaf (WPSD) Mayday event. Bonnita believed in the power of communication, always making an effort to stay in touch with family and friends through heartfelt phone calls, keeping her connections alive with love and laughter.
