Marlene D. (Blend) Bookheimer fell asleep in the arms of our Lord on November 22, 2021 surrounded by members of her family. She was born in North Versailles, Allegheny County on December 6, 1933, a daughter of the late Mary (Cunningham) and Walter Blend.

Married to the late Donald L. Bookheimer for 45 years before his death, their committment to each other set a standard for the family. She deeply loved her family and was so very proud of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, neice and nephew. She always said she was blessed to have her family so near and have the love they so readily gave her. Her home was the gathering place for family and friends, and was filled with food, games, laughter and sometimes chaos.

Marlene had many talents, not least of which was planning an event or party. Family and friends will miss the great times we had together due to her efforts. She was dedicated to her church, West Hempfield Presbyterian (WHPC), where she was a member of the choir for 43 years, a member and officer in Presbyterian Womens Association, a Deacon, a Bible School teacher and an expert chocolate maker/instructor. She participated in providing funeral luncheons, election buffets and co-chaired the WHPC 50th Anniverary Celebration. Marlene was a 60 year resident of Greenridge, the 4th home in the plan. She was a charter member of the Greenridge Association and the Greenridge Garden Club, and bowled in the Greenridge Bowling League for 24 years. While a member of the West Hempfield PTA, the first playground equipment was delivered to her driveway. Always an active part of her children's lives, she chaperoned dances and Proms, church youth club events, and participated in their choir and basketball activities.
