Leonora M. “Lee” (Delle Donne) Trankocy

Leonora M. “Lee” (Delle Donne) Trankocy of North Versailles, age 86, on Saturday, April 24, 2021, completed her earthly journey and moved on to her heavenly home.

Beloved wife of Richard J. Trankocy, Sr. for 63 years. Treasured mother of Richard J. (Susan) Trankocy, Jr. and Susan (Stephen) Kennedy of Braddock. Dear grandmother of Robert Kennedy, Randy (Tiffany) Jones, Shannon (Dustin) Dubensky and Caitlin Jones. Proud great-grandmother of Henry and Alexandra Jones; Ella Sue, Lucy and Lila Dubensky.

Leonora was raised in Rankin, graduated from Rankin High School in 1953 and was a willing volunteer for many Rankin reunions.

Leonora’s first job as a teenager was with Jaison’s, a women’s store in Braddock where she worked along with her sister, Carmella. After graduation, she became employed with Beneficial Finance where she worked until she became a mother. Leonora resumed her work with Beneficial when her children were grown and completed a 28-year career as an Administrative Assistant with the firm. While raising the children, Leonora was an active volunteer and leader with the P.T.A. and Boy Scouts.

Leonora has been a 7-decade member of Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Braddock. She was a member of the Byzantine Catholic Serra Club of Pittsburgh and the Braddock Elks Lodge #883 and the ‘Valley Seniors’ of her neighborhood in Green Valley.

Leonora was proud of her Italian heritage and was a member of the Primavera Lodge of the I.S.D.A. in Swissvale. She delighted in spending both Italian Day and Byzantine Catholic Day at Kennywood. When at home, Leonora enjoyed porch conversations, painting ceramics and watching figure skating on television.

Robert J. "Robbie" Nystrom

Robert "Robbie" J. Nystrom, age 55 of Clairton, passed away at home on Saturday, April 24, 2021.  Born July 7, 1965 in McKeesport, he is the son of Robert L. Nystrom of Elizabeth Twp. and Lucille (Scalise) Herndon (Gary Moore) of Clairton.  A member of the former St. Paulinas Church in Wilson, Robbie was a graduate of Thiel College with a bachelors degree in business administration and psychology and worked at Kaufmann's, Highmark, and most recently Schumann Center.  In his spare time, he was an avid sports fan and athlete, playing baseball for his alma maters Serra Catholic and Thiel and later in the Daily News League and independent minor league ball in Niagara Falls.  Later in life, he umpired and coached for both Clairton and Ringgold Schools and CCAC.   He loved his Pittsburgh sports teams, always wearing #21 in honor of Roberto Clemente.  Robbie was also a member of the CFU Lodge #248 of Clairton (their baseball and basketball tournaments were his favorite weekends of the year), the WAC in Wilson, and the Sons of Columbus, Santa Maria Council in Clairton.  He joins his wife, the late Gina (Giordano) Nystrom, who passed away in 2002.  Robbie is survived by his children Robbie C. (Kasey Seibert) Nystrom of Elizabeth, Nicole (Ruben Morales) Nystrom of Lawrence, NJ, and Angela (Taylor Thomas) Nystrom of West Mifflin; his grandchildren Marley and Delaney; sister Alexis (Robert "Bobbo") Trubiani of Donora; his niece and goddaughter Kennedy Trubiani; his nephew Robert Trubiani; his stepfather Kenneth Barna of Clairton; and his puppy Sage.  His grandchildren, nieces, nephew, and dog were his world.

Edgar Leo George, age 89 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 in Hempfield Manor Nursing Home, Greensburg.  Born May 17, 1931 in Pitcairn, he was a son of the late Arthur and Catherine (Bost) George.  A US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, Edgar retired as the sales manager at Hillview Motors in Greensburg.  He was also a member of St. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael's Church, in Elizabeth Twp., it's Usher's Club where he served as a past-president, and the VFW of McKeesport, #8430.  Besides his parents, Edgar was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Irene (Golick) George, who passed away March 28, 2020, and his siblings: Eugene George, Ruth Lattimore, Alice Waltz, Marian Hines, and Rita Schmidt.

She was the wife of the late Thomas R. Warren who passed away April 22, 2008. Geraldine had worked in the late 1970s at the former US Steel National Tube Works as a furnace operator. She was an avid Steelers and Penguins fan. She love to cook and bake and working in her flower garden. Her grandchildren were the love of her life.

Eugene C. Kusner, 90, of North Huntingdon, Pa., passed away peacefully on Thursday April 22, 2021. He was born March 9, 1931 to the late Michael and Julia Kusner of White Oak, Pa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Barbara Kusner, daughter Linda Barsevich (Michael) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; sister Vera Wrobleski (Edward) of Malvern, Pa.; and sister-in-law Jeanne O’Toole (Tom) of Glenside, Pa.; and Kathy Hula of Gainesville, Fl.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in eastern Pennsylvania and Florida.  

Gene was a proud veteran who spent four years in the Air Force during the Korean War as an Airman First Class. Gene was a classic car enthusiast. His 1966 Mustang and 1974 Lincoln won countless first place prizes at area shows. And once appeared on the cover of Car and Driver magazine. He was an avid gardener who loved to grow tomatoes. Gene also enjoyed traveling the United States.

In 1972, he drove his family across the country in a motor home to visit all of the National Parks. Gene especially enjoyed the mule ride to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. His favorite vacation spot was Bar Harbor, Maine, where he and Barbara ferried across the Bay of Fundy to Nova Scotia. 

He was employed for many years at Firth Sterling Steel Co. in McKeesport and Robertshaw in New Stanton. He was a member of Saint Agnes Church in North Huntingdon for more than 60 years. During that time, he served as an usher and also spent time with their garden club.  Eugene was very loved and lived a good long life.

Louis M. “Spike” Kelley

Louis M. “Spike” Kelley, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 19, 2021 at his residence.  Born on March 24, 1929, in Port Vue, PA, Louis was the 13th child of James W. Kelley and Mary Ann McCaffery-Kelley.  He moved to McKeesport at the age of 10 and later received his diploma from McKeesport High School, class of 1948. 

He proudly served in the US Navy from 1945 through 1949.  Following his discharge, he worked for US Steel for 30 years.  Upon retiring from US Steel, he worked for the International Union until his second retirement at the age of 74.  At the time of his retirement, he held the position as the Assistant Director in District 10, covering the state of PA.  He was an active member of Beulah Park Methodist Church, serving a number of groups including the Youth Group for many of years.  He was also a long-time member of the White Oak Lions Club and W.O.A.A.  He loved sports and served the community by coaching a number of teams including Basketball, Base Ball and Soft Ball teams.

Louis married his love, Nancy (Virag) Kelley on January 5, 1950 and they celebrated 53 years of marriage until her death on January 21, 2003 from pancreatic cancer.  Following Nancy’s death, Louis was blessed with a friend and partner, Laura Rain, with whom he spent almost 15 years until her death in October of 2019.

Louis is survived and cherished by: his son, Timothy Kelley; his daughter-in-law, Karen; his granddaughter Krystal Lui and husband Augusto; his grandson Sean Kelley and his wife Lindsay; 4 great-grandsons; Aidan, Ryan, Quinn and Preston; as well as a number of extended family members and friends, including the Anderson family of Lancaster.

(Losteter) Poorman, age 84 of Spring Hill, FL and formerly of Clairton, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021 in Bayfront Health Center, Spring Hill.  Born February 26, 1937 in West Mifflin, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Loretta (Andrews) Losteter.  A former member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church in West Mifflin, Emma worked as a deli manager at Publix in Florida and formerly of the Cash and Carry, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #316 of Clairton.  Besides his parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clair A. Poorman who passed  away November 8, 1997.  Emma is survived by her daughters Cheryl Smeal-Bush and Tracey (Dennis) Jenkins, both of Mulberry, FL; her son Scott (Melony) Poorman of Spring Hill, FL; her grandchildren Jennifer Parish, Stephanie LaForest, Jonathan Stockdill, Kevin and Katie Jenkins, Amanda Reid, and Colin Poorman; and her eight grandchildren.
