Nancy G. (Brumbaugh) Sprenger, 93, a resident of Redstone Highlands, North Huntingdon, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2020. She was born May 6, 1926 in Duquesne, the daughter of the late Richard A. and Virginia M. (Seiford) Brumbaugh. Nancy was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and a member of the Women’s International Club and Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She worked as a school teacher retiring from Norwin School District in 1989. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Irwin, a member of United Methodist Women, and a longtime volunteer at the Norwin Public Library.

Carl Gay, father of seven children, native of the great state of Texas and long-time resident of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on Easter Sunday after a long battle with mesothelioma. Carl was a master of the New York Times crossword puzzle, as well as a skilled and eloquent debater. He served his country admirably as sailor aboard the submarines USS Black Fin, USS Guitarro and USS Seawolf before entering into the Air Force as a member of the burgeoning nuclear power program. After a successful career in the military, he went on to become an esteemed nuclear inspector, ensuring the safety and well-being of all regions served by nuclear power. He will be remembered as a southern gentleman with unfailing manners and charm, possessed of an exceedingly high intelligence, a man who was both kind and generous, with a most excellent sense of humor. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Louise (Stone) Gay of Clairton; son, Joe P. (Lu) Gay of Ireland; son, David E. (Christine) Gay of Bloomington, IN; daughter, Sandra Gay of Clairton; daughter, Allisa D. Gay of Mt. Washington; son, Michael (Sierra) Gay of Argyle, NY; daughter, Glynnis (Jaime Diaz) Gay of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and daughter, Kirsten (Joe) Cuomo of Frederick, MD; grandchildren; great grandchildren; sister, Roberta Ursprung of Rye, TX; and brother, Larry Gay of Spring, Texas. Rosa Colantone D’Appollonio, 93 years old of Glassport, formerly of Lenola, Italy, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020, at Jefferson Regional Hospital. Rosa was born in Lenola, Italy on January 1, 1927, to the late Antonio and Celeste Colantone. Rosa was the loving wife and partner of 60 years to the late Biagio D’Appollonio who passed away in 2006. She was preceded in death by her first-born infant son in 1946. She is survived by her seven children, ten grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Queen of the Rosary Church in Glassport. Rosa was a devoted mother and wife who loved spending time with her family with whom she would do the things that she loved the most. Private services have been entrusted to E.C. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 235 Monongahela Ave, Glassport, PA 15045. R. Shirley (Cortese) Masi, age 85, of North Versailles, PA, went to be with her Lord and Savior after a short battle with cancer. She died at home, surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. Born and raised in Braddock, she married the late Thomas Masi. They raised their family in North Versailles, where she was an active member of the community for nearly six decades.

She was a devoted member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church (now Mary, Mother of God Parish) in East McKeesport for 59 years; she was a lunch lady volunteer at her children’s grade school; she was an enthusiastic volunteer to get meals to her food-insecure neighbors through both Meals on Wheels and most recently Ma’s Pantry; she joined and was affiliated with several groups, including Christian Mothers, the Wilmerding YMCA, Suddenly Single, and the East Allegheny chapter of AARP. Her many communities made for many long and cherished friendships.

E. Ralph Rosensteel, Jr., age 94 of North Versailles, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020. He was born July 6, 1925 in Braddock, the son of the late Elmer and Helen Rosensteel. He was a long-time member of the All Souls Episcopal Church in North Versailles and was a past member of the VFW in East McKeesport. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and became a mechanist at the Edgar Thomson Works before going to work for more than 30 years in engineering for Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh before retiring.

Thomas E. Fagan Jr., of Irwin, formerly of Coulter, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2020.  He was born December 3, 1946 in McKeesport, a son of the late Thomas and Marjorie (Miller) Fagan.  Prior to his retirement, Tom was a delivery driver for Elizabeth Carbide Co.  He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Vietnam War.  Tom was the recipient of the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars and the Gallantry Cross with Palm.  He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church of North Huntingdon and was a 1966 graduate of McKeesport Sr. High School.  He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed golfing.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brooks John "B.J".  He is survived by his son, Chad Fagan; sisters, Bonnie Heasley, Tricia Kruszyna and her husband, Rick, Colleen Haley; granddaughter, Nina; former wife and best friend, Liz Fagan; and numerous nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank Tom's caregivers, From the Heart and staff at Transitions Health Care for all the love and care they gave to Tom over the years.  There will be no public visitations.  In memory of Tom, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors.  Arrangements made by the James W. (Garuccio) Garuch, age 80 of Clairton, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.  Born August 24, 1939 in Carolina, WV, he was the son of the late Joseph (Garuccio) Garuch and Catherine (Lari) Garuch.  A member of St. Clare of Assisi Church, Larry was a graduate of McKeesport High School and retired after thirty years of service at US Steel Clairton Coke Works.  At home, he always made everyone feel welcome and loved to sit on his patio and spend time with his family: the pride and joy of his life.  He also took pride in his beautiful yard and spotless cars and loved to go to the casino and horse races.  Larry will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Karen (Sammartin) Garuch; his daughters Annette (Charles) Greer of Jefferson Hills and Catherine Dever of Brigantine, NJ; his grandchildren Nicholas (Amanda) Greer of North Huntingdon and Gina Marie Greer of Jefferson Hills; his sister Norma Arabia of Shelby Twp., MI; and also nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his sister Theresa Scappetura.

Andrea Claire Matason Sopira, age 46, of North Versailles, PA, was born on April 18, 1973 at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC in Pittsburgh and passed away peacefully on April 13, 2020 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, after a multiple year battle with recurring attacks of pancreatitis.

She was the beloved daughter of Richard and Sandra Matason of North Huntingdon, PA, loving sister of Alexa Matason Spriggs of Cumberland Maryland, goddaughter of her aunt and godmother Patricia Legge, and godmother to her beautiful niece, Corrine Elizabeth Spriggs. She is also survived by her grandmother, Josie Donell, age 102, four aunts, five uncles, ten cousins, seven nieces and nephews and a very devoted and loving friend. She was preceded in death by her godfather, Patrick Boyle.

He is the son of the late Joseph and Anne (Michaelson) Prusko. He is survived by his children Pete (Lisa) Prusko and Andrea Prusko, and sister Joanne Prusko. Thomas was a proud Army veteran who served with the 1st Infantry Division during the Vietnam War.  Thomas was awarded the Bronze Star.  He was a graduate of Duquesne University and retired from the Corporate Accounting department at Duquesne Light.  Tom was a long-time member of  St. Agnes Church in North Huntingdon.
