Todd Thomas Cook, age 41, passed away sadly on Saturday, November 19th, 2016, in McKeesport. Born July 21, 1975, in McKeesport, he was the beloved son of John A. and Charmaine (Arvin) Cook.
Todd attended McKeesport High School and worked in interior construction for Top Notch Installations. He was a perfectionist on any job he tackled. There wasn’t anything Todd couldn’t build or fix. He liked to deer hunt, fish and would lend a hand to anyone who needed him.

Frances Ruth Garrison, age 90, of Glassport, died November 15, 2016 at home. Born January 23, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Beacher and Vallie (Knox) Younkin and the wife of the late James A. Garrison.
Frances was a practicing Jehovah Witness and a homemaker. Frances was most famous for her spaghetti sauce and chicken noodle soup.
She is survived by son, William J. (Joanne) Garrison of Harrison City; daughter, Dorothy Nehila of Glassport; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; uncle, Merle Knox of Berlin, PA; nieces and nephews.

Lois Marie Akerberg, age 95 of White Oak, passed away November 22, 2016 at Riverside Care Center. Born January 21, 1921 in Punxsutawney, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Florence (Wallace) Nelson, and loving wife of the late Ralph Carl Akerberg. Lois was a graduate of the McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for McKeesport Hospital, and also for various hospitals in New England while her husband served in the military. She was a longtime member of the First Evangelical Free Church in McKeesport, where she was involved in many church groups, enjoyed singing in the choir, and was a Sunday school teacher for several years. Along with being active within the church, she enjoyed spending her free time reading and tending to her home. She is survived by children, Sheryle (the late William) Guy of McKeesport, Denise (Bennett) Berarducci of Bradenton, FL, and Janell (Kenneth) Anderson of Greensburg; grandchildren, Kimberly (Jason) Bortz, Rebecca (Andre) Rothfuss, Melissa (Joseph) Bosetti, Jennifer Chapman, Dr. Amber (Benjamin) Stephens, and Dr. Crystal Berarducci; great-grandchildren, Ava Bosetti, Mia Bosetti, Maya Rothfuss, Tucker Stephens, Olivia Bortz, and Elena Rothfuss; siblings, Norma Nelson of Grays Lake, IL and Wayne (Gerry) Nelson of Elizabeth Twp., and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Glenn Nelson. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, November 27, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 at the First Evangelical Free Church at 10 a.m. Pastor Kirk Albrecht and Pastor Jack Kelly will officiate. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, she received her master’s degree from Chatham University, and was retired as director of Children and Youth Services for Allegheny County. Daughter of the late Adolph and Marion Jacobs Markowitz, she is survived by her husband, Kevin Barlak; son, Michael Barlak of Monroeville; daughter, Sara Papachristou of Hampton Township; 3 grandchildren; and sister, Daryl Marks of the North Hills. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cynthia Mayer.
