David A. Demchak, age 71 of McKeesport, formerly of Clairton, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at UPMC McKeesport. Born February 20, 1945 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Joseph Demchak and Anna (Hrehocik) Demchak-Durkay, and step-son of the late John Durkay. Dave was a graduate of Clairton High School, and upon graduation joined the Air Force and honorably served our country during the Vietnam Era. He later went on to work in the accounting department for US Steel, having retired after many years of service. Following his retirement, Dave proudly started his own landscaping and lawn service business, Demchak Landscaping, and also worked as a PA Constable and was a Democratic Committeeman for the City of McKeesport. He enjoyed spending time with his family and two dogs, Yogi and Snickers, and he will be missed at Dot's Family Restaurant where he could often be seen with his friends and neighbors. He is survived by his son, David (Molly) Demchak of Monroeville and their children, Alaina, Ryan, Nathan, Lucas and Shane; daughter, Deana (Greg) Washburn of Easton, PA and their children, Alexis, Bailey, Clayton, Chloe and Halle; son, Derek (Rebecca) Demchak of Allentown, PA and their children, Sarah and Jacob; siblings, Donald (Sharon) Demchak of Plano, TX, Joann (the late Harry) Lentz of Clairton and Paul (Micky) Kearns of Munhall; companion Lauretta DeCello and former wife, Dolly Demchak. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 6-9 p.m. and Monday, August 29, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church. Father Steven Palsa will officiate. Inurnment will be private at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. On August 26, 2016, Joseph E. Stavor passed peacefully in his sleep, at Southwestern Assisted Living West Mifflin PA, joining his beloved wife Matilda (Tillie) who passed away in 2005. Joe was born on February 15, 1920 to Michael and Mary Stavor. Joe and Tillie were married in 1944 and lived on Maryland Avenue in Duquesne until her death in 2005.

He is survived by four children and their spouses.  Son Robert (Dawn) of Key Largo, FL; daughter Maryann (James) Smith of Allison Park, PA; daughter Patricia (Jerome) Furman of Pottstown, PA; son James (Beverly) of West Mifflin, PA.  He leaves behind 9 grandchildren Matthew (Leah Michael) Stavor; Andrew, Libby, and Lesley Smith; Justin (Amanda) Furman, Joshua (Emily Ochsenschlager) Furman, Jennifer (Phillip) Rupert; Joseph and Taylor Stavor and 2 great grandchildren Nathan Knabb and Faith Rupert.  He is survived by brother Michael Stavor and wife Ida of Mullica Hill, NJ and sister-in-law Frances Pollack of Carrack, PA and many nieces and nephews.

Regis T. “Rege” McLaughlin, age 82, of McKeesport, died August 23, 2016, at Family Hospice in Mt. Lebanon. Born January 15, 1934, in Clairton, he was the son of the late Catherine (McLaughlin) Reynolds and the husband of the late Margaret (Baglos) McLaughlin.
Rege dedicated much of his life to serving his community. He was McKeesport’s mayor from 2010 to 2012; 13-year city council member and past council president from 2004 to 2009, past sewage authority chairman for many years, cofounder, coach and umpire of McKeesport Little League, with one of his teams in the Little League World Series.

Rev. Stephen M. Chervenak, S.T.L., D.Min., age 82, of White Oak, died Monday, August 22, 2016 at the Vincentian Home in Pittsburgh.  He was born in Homestead on July 30, 1934 and is the son the late Stephen and Mary Yuhas Chervenak.

He attended St. Ann/Fifth Ward Elementary School in Homestead and Homestead High School. He received his Doctor of Ministry from St. Mary Seminary in Baltimore, MD, his Bachelor of Arts from St. Vincent College in Labrobe in 1956 and Licentiate in Sacred Theology from St. Mary’s Seminary University in Baltimore, MD in 1960. He was ordained on March 25, 1960 by Bishop John Wright at St. Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh and was incardinated into the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

He was assigned as Parochial Vicar at St. Pius X Church in Pittsburgh from 1960 until 1965; St. Agatha Church in Bridgeville, as Parochial Vicar from 1965 until 1969; the Headmaster of St. Thomas High School from 1969 until 1972; He had a dual Administrator position at St. Januarius Church in Plum and at St. Anthony School in Oakmont from 1972 until 1975. He then served as Pastor of St. Angela Merici Church in White Oak from 1975 until 2009. Father Steve took a mini sabbatical at North American College in Europe in 2003 and returned as Administrator of St. Angela Merici Church until October 1, 2013 when he officially retired. 

He served as the Dean of the Mon Yough Deanery from 1991 until 1998 and then again from 2000 until 2009.  He also served as Confessor of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer from 1986 until 2013 and again from 2014 until 2016.  Since 2014 until the present he served as the Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his siblings; Sr. Helen Chervenak of the Motherhouse Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in North Hills, Christine (the late William) Burdick of Stow, Ohio, Margaret (the late Donald) Vojtusak of Stow, Ohio and Dr. John (Judy) Chervenak of Paradise Valley, Arizona and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers in law; Mary and Albert Miller and Ann and William.

Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from Noon until 4:00 p.m.  Friends will also be received Thursday evening at St. Angela Merici Church from 6:00 p.m until Vesper Services which will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Angela Merici Church with burial following at Calvary Cemetery, Pgh.  Remembrances may be made to St. Angela Merici Church, 1640 Fawcett Avenue, White Oak, 15131 or Vincentian Home, 111 Perrymont Road, Pgh., PA  15237.
