Isabelle Hernandez Tishko

Isabelle Hernandez Tishko, 85, of North Versailles was called home to the Lord on Saturday, March 5th, 2022. She handled her illness this past year with grace and positivity. She was born June 17, 1936 to the late Alejandro Hernandez and Mary Ketus Hernandez Cedillo. She was the devoted wife of 46 years to the late James Lee Tishko and was also preceded in death by siblings: brother Alexander (late Bobbie) Hernandez, sister Rose Xides, brother Raymond (late Rachel) Hernandez and by infant granddaughter Alicia Tishko.

Isabelle was a 1954 graduate of McKeesport High School and attended Douglas Business School where she took classes in hotel & restaurant management. She went on to work for Wilkins Jewelry Company, The Sheraton Hotel Corporation where she traveled to help open new Sheraton locations, and the Red Bull Inn as a banquet manager.

She was a wonderful mother to four children: James Tishko (Jackie Coffman) of Virginia, Mark (Mary Ann) Tishko of Pittsburgh, Tina (Richard) Sullivan of North Versailles, and Jeffrey (Elaine) Tishko of Plum. She was the cherished grandmother of Ashley (Eric) Geyer, Mark John Tishko, Amanda (John) Gault, James Payne (fiance’ Amanda), Sabrina, Alexander, Benjamin, & Jillian Tishko, and Rebecca & Sianna Sullivan. She was blessed with precious great-grandchildren Colin Payne, Lennon Geyer, Aubrey Gault, and little baby-Geyer on the way. Isabelle was one of ten children and is also survived by siblings: Dolores “Dee” (Rich) Ingram, Daniel (Sandy) Hernandez, John Hernandez (& friend Barb Woods), Richard (Joanne) Hernandez, George “Chico” (Anita) Hernandez, Olivia (Bill) Andrew and brother-in-law Byron Xides. She is also survived by extended family in Virginia: Michael, Caitlynn, & Taylor Coffman. She was a special aunt to many nieces and nephews and had many great friends.

Joe Robert Hill

Joe Robert Hill, 86, longtime resident of North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 13, 2022.

Born in Centralia, Illinois in 1935, his life story was one of never letting adversity stand in the way of success.  From growing up in the rural community of Centralia, he joined the Air Force in 1953 after graduating High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Illinois in 1959 and his Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering from Stanford University in 1961, while at the same time getting married and starting a family.

After spending several years working at the prestigious Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, he settled in the Pittsburgh area working for Westinghouse in the late 1960’s until his retirement in 1989.  During this time, he met and married his second wife, JoAnn, in 1984.

Alice (Kuchta) Getsy

Alice (Kuchta) Getsy, 81, peacefully passed on January 31, 2022. Alice was from North Versailles and formerly of Trafford. Loving mom of Kim Getsy, Robert Getsy and Mark Getsy. Sister of Rosemarie “Cookie” Haitz, Joseph (Margaret) Kuchta and John (Marie) Kutchta. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Alice was proceeded in passing by her parents Joseph and Mary Kuchta and her husband Robert Getsdy (October 2020). Alice was a waitress for numerous years, enjoyed bingo, loved to cook and bake especially making perogies. She was a loving and devoted wife and mom and will be missed.

Dear mom of Deanna (Bruce) Cochenour-Clark, Joseph Cochenour and the late Jason Brown. Sister of Donna McConnell, Rose (Art)Leddon, Kenneth (Gabrielle) Ludwig, Sharon (Raymond) Cochran, John C. Lugwig Jr. and the late Tommy Ludwig. Special companion of Weslie Hair. Special niece of Nancy (Allan) Kovacs. Nancy was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Nancy was a free spirit. She loved motorcycles and partied with the Charlie Daniels Band at one time. She loved to tell jokes and laugh and especially loved by children and dog, Cleo.

Richard LaCivita, 81, died December 26, 2021. He was born October 19, 1940. Richard was a man of faith, serving the Parish of St. Joseph the Worker, St. Jude the Apostle in Wilmerding for many years. He loved to be surrounded by friends & family, playing cards or sharing stories. In his younger years, he was a licensed beautician.

Mildred V. “Tu-Tu” (Tomosky) Rizzo

Mildred V. “Tu-Tu” (Tomosky) Rizzo, 92, died December 14, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Tu-Tu was famous for her pancakes. She enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino. Her greatest joy was her family and the time she spent with them. Each grandchild and great-grandchild was her favorite. She was strong in her faith, and regularly attended mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wilmerding, where she was also a member of the Rosary Society. Tu-Tu was like a grandmother to many.  She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

Joyce Brant, 79, passed on December 5, 2021. She was born December 17, 1941, the last surviving child of Wayne and Florence (Rupert) Brant. She was preceded in passing by her siblings, Dennis R. Brant Sr., Wayne Brant, Almeda Jane Rodenz, Elizabeth May Detore, Sherida Lee Harbaugh, Alberta Taylor and Lillian Brant.  She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Joyce loved her family and her cat. She enjoyed writing and researching family genealogy.

Theodore “Ted” Karas

Theodore “Ted” Karas, 83, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the age of 83 at his home in White Oak. He was born March 11, 1938. Ted is survived by his brothers, Samuel (Lisa) Karas, John “Doug” (Georgann) Karas and Daniel Karas, numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in passing by his parents, John and Milka (Savic) Karas, and his brother, Milovan “Butch” Karas. Ted was a proud United States Navy Veteran. He was a longtime employee of Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member of St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church in Monroeville. His biggest joy in life was the time he spent with family and friends.

Rev. Peter Anthony Alfieri

Rev. Peter Anthony Alfieri, 95, passed away peacefully at his home on October 19, 2021 in Lantana, FL. He was born March 13, 1926, in East McKeesport, PA, the son of Gennaro and Assunta (Macchione) Alfieri; brother of Angie (Mario) Bortoluzzi, Deborah (late Daniel) Daugherty, James (Jean) Alfieri and the late Victor (Floy) Alfieri. Husband of the late Angeline (Pregano) Alfieri; beloved father of Leah (David) Carmo, Rebekah Anderson, Faith (Joseph) Rossello, and Peter (Elizabeth) Alfieri Jr. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren Bethany (Michael) Porter, Hayley (Jeffrey) Sheldon, David Carmo, Joel (Erin) Anderson, Adam Carmo, Rachel, Sarah and Eve Rossello, and Angelina and Peter Alfieri III; great grandchildren Leah and Keaton Porter, and Violet and Willa Sheldon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter whose memory he always cherished.

Peter was a proud veteran of the United States Army, and served overseas during World War II. Upon his return, he pursued higher education at the University of Pittsburgh and Western (Pittsburgh) Theological Seminary eventually earning two Master's degrees. His passion and purpose in life was to serve the Lord and spread the gospel. He began his life’s work at Bethel United Methodist church in Lower Burrell from 1955-1959. From 1959-1974 he served Cresson United Methodist church, until eventually relocating to Vintondale, PA to lead Blacklick United Methodist church, where he remained until his retirement in 1989. Even after his retirement, Peter continued his ministry part time at the Laurel Swamp Union Church in Clymer, PA from 1991-2005. He will be fondly remembered by his many congregants and members of the communities he faithfully served throughout his life.

Ann (Wilcox) Sant

Ann Elizabeth (Wilcox) Sant, 77, of Level Green passed away October 15, 2021. Born in McKeesport on July 30, 1944, to the late Robert and Sadie (Betras) Wilcox, she attended McKeesport High School, resided with her growing family in McKeesport  until moving to Level Green in 1974.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her only brother,  Michael Wilcox and her son-in-law, Todd Everhart.

Ann is lovingly remembered by her eleven children with former spouse, Russell J. Sant. Her children include Shawn S. Sant, Jodi R. Everhart, Joni R. Sant, Jayne R. Totora, Russell J. Sant, Jennifer R. Sant, Jacqueline R. Sant (Matt), Robert J. Sant (Laura), Sarahann S. Sant, Reed J. Sant and Rory J. Sant.

Ann is also survived by 14 grand-children: Kevin, Ryan, Robert, Tabytha, Athina, Shawn, Samuel, Stephanie, Racheal, Jennifer, Michael, Elizabeth, Susan and Matthew; 13 great-grand-children, 3 nephews and 2 nieces.

Marion (Di Agostino) Kirk, 92, of Wilmerding passed away on September 30, 2021 at Independence Court, Monroeville.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert (Bob) Kirk.  She was a retired secretary to the President of the Westinghouse Airbrake Co., Wilmerding and was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Wilmerding.

Marion was born on May 23, 1929 in Wilmerding.  She was the daughter of the late Carmine (Frank) and Flora Di Agostino.  She is survived by her son, Robert (Bob) F. Kirk (wife Andrea) of Parker, TX; her daughter, Linda L. Kirk of Wilmerding; two grandsons, Joshua and Matthew; great-granddaughter, Emily; her faithful dog, Kenzie; her sister, Marlene Kent (husband Dennis) of Orlando, FL; her brother, Ralph Di Agostino (wife Joan) of Melrose, MA; brother, Frank Di Agostino of Monroeville; brother-in-law, Leo Kirk (wife Patricia) of Lynchburg, VA; nieces and nephews.

William E. “Bill” Lovell Jr. passed in his home surrounded by his loving family on September 18, 2021 at the age of 82. Bill was the devoted husband of the late Kathleen (Smith) Lovell. He was the loving father of Billy (Kylie) and Kelley (Terry) Bradich. Proud grandfather of Kayle, Logan, Nathan and Ayden.

Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the V.F.W. He was also a Volunteer Fireman, member of the C.F.U, and the Polish Club. Bill was a former baseball and soccer coach for E.A.A. He loved to bowl and golf. Most of all, Bill loved his kids and grandkids.
