Beth Ann Menke Philburn, 62, of Finleyville passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022. She was born December 24, 1959 in Mt. Lebanon and was the daughter of the late Edward Ronald and Marian Louise (Myers) Menke. Beth attended college at Edinboro University where she obtained a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. She volunteered most of her time to multiple VFW's and American Legions. She is survived by her sons, Kyle (Anne Quinio) Hufnagel of South Park, and Neil Hufnagel of Seattle, WA; sisters, Laura (Greg) Flaus of Mt. Lebanon, and Lisa (Rick) Foster of Mars, PA; grandson, Jude Hufnagel, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Beth is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Edward Philburn, who passed away May 21, 2021. There is no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Dolores Alice Weinstein, 89, long-time White Oak resident, wife, mother, and matriarch of a loving extended family died Sunday, June 12, 2022. Mrs. Weinstein was born July 6, 1932, in McKeesport to Mildred Rita (Topley) and Joseph Lorraine Wilson. In her youth, Dolores played piano, sang in the Duquesne High School chorus, and acted in the Senior Class play with her future husband. She graduated from Duquesne High School in 1950 and married her high school sweetheart, H. Wayne Weinstein, on Feb. 17, 1951. In 1958, Dolores and Wayne moved to White Oak, where they raised seven children and became active members of the community.
Dolores is remembered as a role model who readily embraced and took a genuine interest in everyone she met. As her family and circle of friends grew, she hosted hundreds of gatherings celebrating holidays, birthdays, baptisms, 1st communions, confirmations, graduations, baby and bridal showers, wedding anniversaries, and more.
Dolores was a pioneer for women simply by living life on her terms. While raising 7 children, she served as a Girl Scout Leader, a board member of the Jayceettes, and president of the Christian Mothers and Catholic Womens’ Guild. She ran for public office, winning all seven times, fulfilling two six-year terms as auditor and five four-year terms as the 1st female member of the White Oak Boro Town Council. After retiring from Town Council, Dolores was appointed as Local Registrar of Vital Records and was employed by the state of Pennsylvania for 17 years.

Terry Lee Bartman, 73, of McKeesport, passed away Tuesday, June 7. 2022 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Terry was born February 12, 1949 in Jacksonville, Florida and was the son of the late Nathan and Yvonne Pauline (Haskew) Bartman. He was a US Navy Veteran, where he served as an air traffic controller. He worked as a Police Officer and later Sergeant for the Jefferson Hills Police Department and upon retirement worked as a dispatcher for 3 plus years, also for the Jefferson Hills Police Department. He was a member and past secretary of the Stephen Bayard Masonic Lodge #526 and also was a member of the Pleasant Hills American Legion Post 712. Terry also enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR. He will be greatly missed.

David will be missed by his colleagues at Wilson Candy Co. in Jeannette, where he worked for the last twenty years. He had a passion for American History, especially the Civil War.

Mary Elizabeth Carney, 89, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022. She was born September 28, 1932 in Elizabeth Township and was the daughter of the late Nazareno Cipollone and Julia (Giulia) Martucci. She was the wife of the late John Anthony Carney, Jr. who passed away April 23, 2019. Mary was a member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael Church in Elizabeth Township, and was a former member of Elizabeth Township Seniors, Victory Ladies Auxillary and the Elizabeth Township Zoning Board. She was retired from Round Hill Regional Park and had previously worked for Allegheny County Treasurers Office and the former 7 Springs Par 3 Golf Course.

Dolores L. Black, 91, of Elizabeth Township, formerly of Port Vue, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 4, 2022. She was born March 7, 1931 in McKeesort and was the daughter of the late Edward J. Frantz, Sr., and the late Margaret (James) Frantz. She was the wife of the late Duane A. Black who passed away January 20, 2003. She was a member of Park Baptist Church, Versailles. In her early years, Dolores had worked at McKeesport Hospital and the former Menzie Daily Company. Dolores enjoyed Super Seniors at Church, gardening, and the support of her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bernadine Helen (Shaffer) Kovacs Swiech, 66, of Elizabeth Township, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 26, 2022. She was born January 13, 1956 in McKeesport and was the daughter of Julia (Glagola) Shaffer of Elizabeth Township and the late Harry William Shaffer. She was a member of Dormition of the Holy Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Church, McKeesport. She grew up in the Crawford Village Housing Projects and later in life became the first female Trustee for the Edwin R. Crawford Foundation. She was a Legal Secretary for 37 years for the late George F. Young and then became an Account Manager for Alpine Packaging for 9 years.

Timothy P. "Timmy" Begandy, 66, of Port Vue, passed away after a courageous battle with leukemia on May 26, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. He was born September 24, 1955 in McKeesport and was the son of Patricia Jean (Neidermyer) Begandy and the late Peter Begandy. Timothy worked for Dura-Bond Industries in the saw room and as a train conductor. He was a lifetime member of the Rustic Lounge and Port Vue Pub. He loved the beach, especially Outer Banks, The Beatles, and was a huge Civil War buff. Timothy's favorite movie was The Wizard of Oz, which he received many gifts of and collected a lot of memorabilia over the years. He had a special passion for airplane and train simulators and aspired to be a biplane pilot and train engineer. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his companion of over 25 years, Sharon Baldis; daughter, Celeste Begandy; step-son, Ryan (Stephanie) Baldis and their children, AJ and Lexa; and his sister, Gina Dolby. Elaine Neyman, 80, of Perryopolis, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022 at home. She was born July 19, 1941 in Rostraver Twp. and was the daughter of the late Foster and Mary E. (Williams) Burnworth. She was the wife of the late Milton A. Neyman, Sr., who passed away in 1985. Elaine was a mother to all and also fostered two children. She enjoyed playing bingo, even though sometimes she had a love/hate relationship with the game. She also enjoyed needlepoint sewing, crossword puzzles and watching tv. Most of all, Elaine loved spending time with her family and her beloved grandchildren. Elaine did things her way and will be greatly missed by all.

Stanley Raymond Struzinski, Jr., 73, of Greenock, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022. He was born January 25, 1949 in Pittsburgh and was the son of the late Stanley R. Struzinski Sr. and the late Rita Marie (Ryan) Struzinski. He was the husband of the late Bridgetta (Hanbury) Struzinski. Stanley was a member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael Church in Elizabeth Township. He volunteered for the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was a Radio Operator and a Sharp Shooter serving mostly in Okinawa.

Shirley Ann Lundberg, 83, of Greenock passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022. She was born on August 12, 1938 in Duquesne and was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Marcin) Petrunyak. She was the wife of the late George T. Lundberg, who passed away June 15, 2004. She was the mother to the late Eric Lundberg and the mother-in-law to the late Donnie Hodge. Shirley was a member of the White Oak American Legion #701 and was a part of the Women's Auxiliary Group. She worked many jobs in her life, but mainly as a Nurse's Aid for Kane Regional Center in McKeesport.

Joyce Lynn Peters, 61, of Erie, beloved mother, sister and friend passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022. She was born November 26, 1960 in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of the late Daniel and Sandra Ann (Shwartz) Czarniecki. She obtained a bachelor's degree and her CPA license and always enjoyed working as an accountant for Erie Homes for Children and Adults and then Gerlach's in Erie. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Amber Peters, grandchildren, William and Piper Peters; son, Nathan Peters, grandchildren, Ethan, Izzy, Logan, and Lincoln Peters; sisters, Jeanette Markle, and Janice Genes; brother, Jimmy Czarniecki, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jeffrey Czarniecki, who passed away November 24, 1982.
