Scott Kenneth Binkney

Scott Kenneth Binkney, 53, of Ridge, MD, formerly of Liberty Borough, PA, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Saturday November 25, 2017. Cremation was chosen to honor Scott’s wishes.

Scott was born May 16, 1964 in Mckeesport, PA and was the son of Judy E. Fullerton Binkney Kantorczyk of Mooresville, NC and the late Ralph Kenneth Binkney. He is survived by his wife, April Diane Pearson Binkney of 22 years, sons, Ryan  (Brynn) Binkney of Lexington Park, MD, Andrew (Trista) Binkney of Struthers, OH,  Adam , Jared, Joseph and daughters, Ciarra and Madison all of Ridge, MD. Grandchildren Audrina, Alexander, and Aislyn Binkney. Sisters, Rebecca Binkney of Glassport, Pa and Merry Skotnicki of Louisville, KY, and brothers , Chris Binkney of Penn Hills, PA and David (Kristen) Binkney of Mooresville, NC. Step-mother Donna Binkney of Mckeesport, PA, many  nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his step-father Ernest Kantorczyk and grandmother Margaret “Nana” Binkney.

Scott was a member of Word of Worship Church in White Oak, PA and was a corporate Job recruiter. Scott was very patriotic and loved his country. He was very proud to have served in the United States Navy for 14 years.  He enjoyed coaching his children’s basketball and soccer teams. Scott was compassionate towards others and was always willing to help a friend or stranger in need.  He was an organ donor and in the past had donated bone marrow.   Scott will be remembered most for his passionate words and rants on facebook along with his sarcasm, humor and quick wit.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Scott’s life will be held at Word of Worship Church, White Oak, PA.  Family will be there at 2pm to greet other relatives and Friends.  The service will begin at 3:30. The family invites friends to stay after the service for a small reception to continue celebrating Scott’s life.  Arrangements are by the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Doris E. Bernhardy, 91, of Boston, Elizabeth Township, died Friday, November 24, 2017. She was born November 11, 1926 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Evan and Emma Edwards. Doris was a 2nd grade teacher at the former St. Michael's Catholic School and also worked at Shop N Save in Olympia. She is survived by daughters, Kathleen Bernhardy of Boston, and Linda (Richard) Kerr of Slippery Rock, sons, William D. Bernhardy of Pittsburgh, David (Nattie) Bernhardy of Highland, CA, and Dennis (Jane) Bernhardy of Dallas, PA., grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Andrew "Butch" Joseph Sharpeta, 69, of Elizabeth Township, died Saturday, November 25, 2017. Born December 31, 1947 in Floreffe, he was the son of the late Steve and Mary (Polcawich) Sharpeta. Butch was proprietor of Sharpeta's Cleaning. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Clairton VFW and was a 1968 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. He is survived by his life-partner, Jan Lieberum, daughter, Dawn Marie (Daren Black) Sharpeta-Black of Houston, TX, and son, Andrew J. He was born February 13, 1957 in McKeesport and was the was the son of Florence (Jerry) Jackowski Jordan Bentley of Elizabeth Township and the late Eugene Jordan. He was the husband of the late Cynthia J. Plummer Jordan, who died January 17, 2010. James served in the US Navy and was a machine operator for Camp Hill Corporation. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Tera Warren of Lincoln Borough, brother, Gary (Glynis) Jordan of Peters Twp, sister, Cheryl Thomas of Butler, niece, Ashley McCollum and nephew, Sean McCollum. Jonathan Andrew Gerda, 27, of West Mifflin, was released from his earthly ties on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. Jonathan had many names, Jon or Gerda to most, Cabbage to some, Jon Jon to a few, but most importantly he was known as Daddy to his son, Nicholas Louis Opat. 

Jon is the beautiful son of Michael B. Gerda of Van Meter and Sam and Amanda (Houseman) Pecora of Belle Vernon, the loving fiancé of Nicole A. Dankis of West Mifflin, the amazing brother of Elizabeth R. Gerda, Michael BP Gerda and Justin S. (Joy) Pecora, the wonderful grandson of Betty R. and the late Paul E. Houseman, Agnes M. and the late Joe Wirbicki, the late Michael Gerda, Caroline A. Dankis and Fran McBride, and the fun loving uncle of Tyler and Zoe, the terrific nephew of many aunts and uncles, and crazy cousin to dozens.   

Jon was born July 31, 1990 in Belle Vernon. He attended Belle Vernon Area High School and graduated from All State Career School when he began his career as a truck driver.

Dolores “Lorey” Cole (Jones) was called home by the Father on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. She was a loving wife, mother, mentor, and great friend and will be deeply missed by all. Lorey was a devout Christian and loved the Lord. She believed in putting her faith in action by volunteering at Forbes Regional Hospital 3 days a week in the ministerial office and breast care center. She is survived by her husband Bill, best friend Cheryl Dobrowolski (Brugh) and sons Wayne married to Leigh (O’Brien) with daughters Elizabeth and Lexi and Scott married to Malissa (Kazmer) and daughter Amber. A small memorial service will be held at a future date for family and friends. Thomas A. Kemper, Sr., 79, of White Oak, died Thursday, November 16, 2017 in Family Hospice at  Canterbury Place in Pittsburgh. He was born December 30, 1937 in McKeesport and was the son of  the late Clarence  and Marie Hill Kemper. He was the husband of the late Sandra L. "Toots" Horvatin Kemper, who passed away February 3, 2013. Thomas was a member of St. Angela Merici Church, where he was a former usher. He worked as a truck driver for ECM in Springdale.

Thomas is survived by his children, Thomas A. Kemper, Jr. of White Oak, Michelle (George) Zaspel of Export, Renee (Brian) Fite of Pittsburgh, and Tim (Jodi) Kemper of Cameron, NC.; four granddaughters, Kaylee (Jack), Tara (Fiance Derek), Lizzie and Lexxie; 3 sisters, Doris (Tom) Merritt of Jefferson Hills, Karen Moore of White Oak, and Jennifer (Doug) Weimer of North Huntingdon; and nieces and nephews.

She was a 1957 graduate of the McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing. Maryann was a Registered Nurse for 41 years. She had worked at UPMC McKeesport Hospital, the VA Medical Center in Oakland and was also a Private Duty Nurse. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Michael J. Davis , sons, Paul M. (Debbie) Davis of Pennsville, NJ, and Christopher A. (Alycia Albis) Davis of Charlotte, NC, daughter, Susan A. (Ron Hunt) Davis of Port Vue, brother, Frank G. Dennis J. Filson, Sr., 70, of North Huntingdon, died Friday November 10, 2017 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital. He was born July 25, 1947 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Josiah B. "Mike"and Mabel Utt Filson. Dennis was a draftsman for over 23 years at Tenova Core. He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and the former St. Pius Church. He was also a member of The 11th Ward Mens Welfare Association, PNA Lodge 352, The Hartford Heights Fire Hall and The McKeesport Sportsmen's Association . Dennis was a surrogate father to Truck Company Marines, and his bulldog, Spike. He was an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts Troop 907 and with the former St. Pius Church in McKeesport. Dennis is survived by his wife, Deborah M. Trepanowski Filson of North Huntingdon, sons, Dennis J. Filson, Jr., Casey J. (Kelley), John M. (Janell) and Justin M.
