KAREN M. (DEETS) HOBLAK
Age 77, of West Mifflin, PA (originally from Omaha, NE), unexpectedly passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, after a short battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her son, Jonathan Hoblak; beloved wife of 59 years to John Hoblak; dearly treasured mother of Barbara Simmons, James (Cynthia) Hoblak, Susan (Edward) Davies, Kathleen Hoblak, Kristine (Robert) Karpinsky and Eric (his wife, Devera Davis) Hoblak; loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren; and great-grandmother of 14; also survived by her sisters, Norma May of Minneapolis and Marilyn Hannan of Phoenix. She dedicated her life to her faith and family. She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Forest Hills and served in a number of capacities. Her life was measured by her success of those she so deeply touched. Her most cherished times were those spent with her beloved family. Her grace and strength in the face of adversity will always be remembered. She will be deeply missed. BRIAN PAUL BAKER age 41, of West Mifflin, PA, was born on November 16, 1976 and passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017. Brian was a member of Local Union #373 and worked at Baker Salvage Recycling and Landfill. He enjoyed spending time with his family, detailing cars and going fishing. Brian was a smart, loving, charismatic son, brother and uncle. He was a son of James C. and Mary A. (Semow) Baker; brother of J. Ben (Jamie) Baker, Carin N. Baker, late Dr. Samuel A. (surviving spouse, Dr. Joanna) Baker; uncle of Samuel Baker, Gianna Baker, Alexander Baker, Harlon Baker and Ryan Marecic. There will be a private service, held for immediate family only. MELODY JOY SAPOS age 20, of Rankin, PA, on November 23, 2017, Thanksgiving evening, at Children’s Hospital of heart failure after two heart transplants. She was a daughter of Dennis and Cathy (Bitting) Sapos. She was formerly a cashier at Giant Eagle in Edgewood Town Center and currently a Sales Associate at Macy’s in the Men’s Department. She was a member of the East Suburban Community Church in North Versailles and attended Studio G Dance Studio. Besides her parents, surviving her is her brothers and sisters, Michael (Adriana) Sapos, of CA, Rebecca Chatman, of Washington, PA, Sara (Jake) Sites, of Venetia, PA, Shaun (Erin) Leet, of Braddock Hills, and Ryan (Milan) Sapos, of North Versailles; girlfriend of Adam Cabon, of Elizabeth; granddaughter of William (late Sandra) Bitting, of Liverpool, PA; also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Dorothy (Riling) Kemper, Age 90, of West Mifflin, on November 16, 2017, at her residence in the presence of her family, Dorothy went home to be with her Lord. Dorothy touched so many lives and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Duquesne, PA for many years. She was a member of the Confraternity of the Christian Mothers and Guild at St. Joseph's and enjoyed singing in the choir. She volunteered at the St. Joseph annual flea market for many years and at the Church bake sales, fish fries, and doughnut sales.

Age 92, of West Mifflin, on November 7, 2017. She was born November 18, 1924, in Ambridge, PA, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret (Pfoff) Gross. She was a former bank teller for Mellon Bank and retired after 17 years as an admitting clerk at Montefiore Hospital. She was a proud graduate of Munhall High School Class of 1942 and often talked about the attack on Pearl Harbor. She also studied at Duff’s Business School. Beloved wife of the late George L. Potts; mother of Ray Potts of West Mifflin, Diane (Ron) Lombard of Murrysville and Carole R. Kruszka of Gilbert, AZ; grandmother of Adam Lombard, Benjy Lombard, Shamarene Donato, Tara (Fred) Herrmann, Aaron (Laura) Kruszka and Kimberley Mendoza; also numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Minnie, Helen, Elsie, Willie, Elmer, Albert, Eddie, Freddie and Rita; and also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was a former member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Duquesne. He proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a former employee of US Steel Homestead Works and retired from Bakewell Corp. A member of Christ Lutheran Church, he was an avid golfer and for 15 years coached the Duquesne Little League and also umpired in the City Parks League and belonged to the Pittsburgh Umpire Association. He was the husband of the late Hazel (Carman) Bradley; father of Matthew Bradley, Heather Bradley and Joseph Bradley, Sr., all of Duquesne; grandfather of Joseph Bradley, Jr.; brother of Sherrie (Joseph) Kiss of Oakdale, George (Joy) Bradley of Mars and Faith (Keith) Edwards of West Mifflin. Beloved wife of Bernard J. Runge for 65 years; mother of Wilma (Edward) Krien, of White Oak, Robert Runge, of West Mifflin, and LouAnn (Robert) Kraus, of Warrenton, VA; grandmother of Shanna Krien, Brandon Krien, Keith (Jen) Kraus, and Courtney Kraus; great-grandmother of Collin Krien.

She was predeceased by brothers, William Boyer, Raymond Boyer, and Sylvester “Red” Boyer. Age 96, of Duquesne and former resident of McKeesport, died on September 7, 2017, in St. Anne's Nursing Home, Greensburg, PA. She was born on January 9, 1921, in McKeesport to Michael and Virginia (Coulter) Kushner and was the oldest of five children. On October 26, 1946, she married Stanley Belback. Together they were loving parents of four sons and three daughters. Madeline was an active member at St. Joseph Church, Duquesne where she belonged to the Confraternity of Christian Mothers and Guild, and was a Third Order Carmelite in the "Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Chapter" for 36 years. She also belonged to Our Lady's Rosary Makers, was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and a volunteer at John J. Kane Hospital for 13 years at the Scott Twp. and McKeesport centers. She was a former Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) teacher of religion, and a teacher for Catholic Awards for Girl Scouts of Catholic Faith. She also served on the Home Mass Committee for shut-ins. She is survived by her children, Stanley (Theresa) Belback, Lanexa, VA, Marlene (Stephen) Smith, North Huntingdon, PA, Anita (John) King, Mineral, VA, Regis (Marianne) Belback, Steubenville, OH, John (Valerie) Belback, West Mifflin, PA, Virginia Belback, Williamsville, NY, Joseph (Robin) Belback, North Huntingdon, PA; 13 grandchildren and one step- grandchild; 16 great- grandchildren; sister, Catherine Crovak, Greensburg, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Madeline was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley "Stush" Belback; parents, Michael and Virginia (Coulter) Kushner; brother, Michael S. Kushner; sisters, Virginia (Ernest) Williams, and Rita (Walter) Belback. Madeline was a woman of great Faith who had an abundance of love for her husband, children, family, and friends with sincere caring and compassion for others. We'll all miss her!
