Walter A. Trayers, 82, of North Huntingdon, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville.  He was born March 3, 1938 in McKeesport, a son of the late Andrew and Bernie (Dakin) Trayers.  Prior to his retirement, Walt was a die maker for General Motors and a veteran of the US Army having served during Vietnam.  Walt was a founding member of the Italian Brotherhood of Guffey and the American Legion.  He is survived by his  beloved wife Janice Davis Trayers; sons, Timothy Trayers and his wife, Jodi, Jason Trayers, Todd Trayers (Kristin) ; brother, John Patrick (Rose) Trayers; and four grandchildren, Cassie, Joseph, Amanda and Andrew one great grandchild, Rylynn.

She was born in McKeesport on March 4, 1929 and is the daughter of the late Lester and Gertrude Taylor Maurer and the wife of the late Chauncey A. Bailey. She was employed at the McKeesport Housing Authority until her retirement. She always enjoyed helping others and she and her husband loved traveling in their motorhome.

Thomas William Macko

Thomas William Macko, age 91, died on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Landis Homes in Lititz, PA. Born on March 7, 1929 in Homestead, PA he is the son of the late Andrew and Anna Copan Macko who both emigrated from Slovakia at a young age, and the husband of the late Rosemarie Klemens Macko. 

Tom and Rosemarie married three days after Christmas in 1954 so they could move together to Anchorage, Alaska for two years as he had been deployed by the US Army following the Korean War. While he was stationed in Alaska, he conducted infantry radio reconnaissance along the coast of the Bering Sea with Russia.  Upon returning in 1956, Tom and Rosemarie moved to White Oak, PA and began to raise their family of five children, living on McKee Road for their entire lives. After nearly 30 years he retired as a manager of structural steel drafting from Bethlehem Steel and joined the firm Lake of Chicago to establish and manage their Pittsburgh branch, retiring for good when he turned 70.

James M. Scurfield, age 63, of Elizabeth, formerly of Clairton, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at home. He was an instrument repair technician for Heath Consultants in Monongahela. An avid sports fan, he was a former youth baseball, softball and basketball coach. Born June 5, 1957 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late James H. and Lois (Michaels) Scurfield. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Geralyn (Hunt) Scurfield; daughters, Adrienne (Brad) Ring of Jeannette and Abigail Scurfield of Pittsburgh; sons, Matthew (Carrie) Scurfield of Liberty Boro and Dan Scurfield of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Kinsley Ring, Madelyn Scurfield and another grandson due in April; brother, Rich (Sue Little) Scurfield of Glassport; sister-like cousin, Adele Turek of Clairton; also, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Janet Scurfield.

Proctor, 92, of Irwin, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at Transitions Healthcare, North Huntingdon.  She was born November 15, 1928 in Herminie, a daughter of the late Russell and Mary (Rosenstill) Millinger.  Hazel was a member of the Norwin Church of the Nazarene.  She was a loving mother who took care of her family and home and loved to watch football.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl S. Proctor; brothers, Art and Howard Millinger; sisters, Naomi Clutter, Ethel Kaufman and Darlene Kunkle.  She is survived by her sons, Ray Proctor and his wife, Eileen, Randy Proctor (Katrina); four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mark was a member of  Praise Assembly of God Church in North Versailles. He was a Sunday School teacher and the president of the bowling league there. He was the Regional Manager of Southwest Subway overseeing 7 area stores. He was an amazing boss and leader at Subway. He had a quirky sense of humor and always made his point in just a few words. He loved sweets, raspberry iced tea, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren and taking them places.

(Zumbo) Zuro, who passed away February 10, 2013, and his siblings Al Zuro and Annie Kraly.  Frank is survived by his son Frank M. (Carol) Zuro of Jefferson Hills; his grandchildren Nicole (Tom) D’Antonio of Jefferson Hills and Michael (Leah) Zuro of Pleasant Hills; his great-grandchildren Mia, Luke, Zayden, Macsen, and one on the way; and also nieces and nephews.

Herman retired from US Steel National Tube Works, where he was a Millwright. He was a US Army veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of the White Oak American Legion Post # 701. He enjoyed reading and caring for his family. Herman was a hardworking family man that was always there to lend a hand.

She was born on Wednesday, February 25, 1942 to the late James and Maggie (Henderson) Campbell. Rita worked as a steel worker at US Steel and also did some work at the Central Blood Bank. She enjoyed volunteering at the food bank, loved to play solitaire, coloring in her adult coloring books and truly loved cooking for various family events. Rita is survived by her son, Adolph Campbell (Ms.Ida Schofield) and special daughter Asia Campbell; her siblings, Carrie Spence (William Epps), Leo Campbell, Lawrence Campbell, Barry Johnson, Darrell Campbell and Jessica Campbell; her grandchildren, Shanna Jenkins, Ashley Campbell, Shakharis Campbell, Kyle (Funto) Campbell, Adolph Campbell Jr, Tenasia Campbell and Keith Penn-Bowman; Great-Grandchildren, Atayziah, Malakai, Ianna, Sincere, Shakainah, Shaniyah, Tru, Eden, Jemma Joy, Aiden, Khalil and Keyani. Besides her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her two children, Angela Bowman and Trenton Campbell, as well as her siblings, Frederick Henderson, Ester Campbell and Connie Campbell. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 11P.M.-1P.M. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 15110, 412-466-3300. A celebration of life service will follow after the visitation. Interment will be in Restland Memorial Park, Monroeville, PA. All PA Covid-19 precautions will be in place at the funeral home and visitors MUST wear a mask.
