Nickalena "Lena" "Nicky" Catalina, age 98 of Port Vue, passed away at home on Sunday, August 8, 2021.  Born April 25, 1923 in Scottdale, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Agnes Iannone.  A member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish - St. Eugene's Church in Liberty Borough, Nickalena worked for Norwood Catering on the Gateway Clipper Fleet.  She will be remembered for taking great pride in cooking and taking care of her house, her a great sense of humor, and loved all the Pittsburgh sports teams.  Besides her parents, Nickalena was preceded in death by her husband Joseph R. Catalina, who passed away January 12, 2008, and her brothers Anthony and Eugene Iannone.  She is survived by her children Marianne (Don Plagman) Catalina of McCandless Twp., Christine Catalina of North Versailles, LeeAnn (Tom Dworek) Catalina of Port Vue, Edward (Norma) Catalina of Greensburg, and Joseph (Marlene) Catalina of Mt. Vernon; her grandchildren Gabriel (Dukee) Catalina, Joseph (Paz) Catalina, Carrie (Tim) Scott, Mindy (Don) Geletko, Tim (Colleen) Hannan, and Ed (Renee) Catalina; her fourteen great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and also her beloved cat Abbey.

Kay A. Curry, age 77, of Jefferson Hills, passed away surrounded by her loving family at the home of her niece and nephew Sunday, August 8, 2021 in Monongahela. She retired as the owner of Curry's Corner in West Elizabeth. A former member of West Elizabeth United Methodist Church, she was a former scalehouse operator at Charles Bluestone in Elizabeth. She enjoyed time with her family and was an advocate and lover of animals.

Born April 9, 1944 in Jefferson Hills, she was a daughter of the late James Edward Barrickman Sr. and the late Mary (Wray) Barrickman. She is survived by her brother, James Edward (Mary Ann) Barrickman Jr. of Jefferson Hills; nieces and nephews, William (Andrea) Weber of Bethel Park, James Edward (Robin) Barrickman III of Pasadena, MD, Kathy (Bruce) Santina of Monongahela, Kay Lynn (Gary) Miller of Elizabeth and Susan Lloyd of Kentucky; many adoring great- and great-great-nieces and nephews; also, cousins.

Harry A. West, age 94 of Clairton, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021 in Jefferson Hospital.  Born January 12, 1927 in Dunbar, he was a son of the late William H. and Olive S. (Ulander) West.  He was a fire chief for U.S. Steel Clairton Works Fire Department for 37 years and a US Navy Veteran, serving during World War II.  Harry was a member of the American Legion Daniel Keffer Post #75 and VFW Post #803, both of Clairton, He enjoyed woodworking in his shop at home, fishing, travel, and had an aviation pilot’s license.

Joseph A. Napoli, Sr., age 91, of Palm Desert, CA, formerly of Duquesne, passed away on July 22, 2021. Born in Duquesne on July 17, 1930, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Angeline (Godine) Napoli. He was retired from U.S. Steel-Duquesne Works as a metalographer. He was an avid golfer and bowler and he proudly served his country in the Navy Reserves for 16 years.

He is survived by his wife Suzi Napoli of Palm Desert, CA. He is the beloved father of Capt. Joseph (Debra) Napoli Jr.-U.S. Navy Ret.-of Mechanicsburg and Yvonne (Bruce) Napoli Meeder of Harrisburg; grandfather of Katie Napoli, Christopher (Renee) Meeder and Noah A. Napoli Meeder; great grandfather of Evan Meeder; brother of Carmella Marko of Port Vue, Teresa (Frank) Palestra of Tampa, FL, and Yolanda (late Kenneth) Marcase of Elizabeth Twp and predeceased by brothers and sisters, late Frank (late Barb) Napoli, late Anthony (late Ruby) Napoli, late Nancy White, late JoAnne (late Tom) Sharkey and late Salvatore (late Angie) Napoli.

Skone, 24, of North Huntingdon passed away Friday, August 6, 2021.  He was born August 21, 1996 in Reston, VA, son of Timothy and Rebecca (Brant) Skone.  Tamasz was a marketer for Renewal By Andersen and was a graduate of Norwin Senior High School Class of 2014.  He enjoyed playing the guitar, hiking and spending time at Lake Stonycreek.  He is survived by his maternal grandparents, Jerry and Judy Brant, paternal grandparents, Ken and Jane Skone; brother, Jerrad Skone; and sister, Amanda Griffiths and her husband, Paul.  Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the James W. Mary Ann Michaels, age 80, of Whitehall, formerly of Duquesne, passed away on August 5, 2021 at Allegheny General Hospital.  Daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Slivochka) Sabol, she was born on November 20, 1940. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-Holy Name Church. Her family was always first. She enjoyed vacationing with her family at Virginia Beach, walking and reading, especially crime scene books. She and her husband took ballroom dancing lessons at the Knights of Columbus and she volunteered at Duquesne Catholic School and Holy Name Church when her children were students. Mary Ann was the beloved wife of 61 years to the late Dr. Joseph E. Michaels, who died on April 2, 2021. She was the mother of Brian Michaels of Washington, PA, Tyrone (Sara) Michaels of Baldwin, Allison (Jamie) Parker of Charlotte, NC, and Joseph (Heather) Michaels of Munhall; grandmother of Jaclyn McIntyre, Madeline, Ashley, Joey Jr., Noel, Starr, Barron and Xander Michaels, Tanner, Connor and Matthew Parker, Presley and Aria Michaels, Brendon and Bailee Gazdag and Raina McIntosh; sister of Michael (Annie) Sabol of Bakersfield, CA and the late Magdalene Sabol. Nancy M. (Paton) Miracle, 88, died August 4, 2021. Born September 28, 1932, Nancy raised two beautiful daughters, Lynn Carol Miracle and Lori Miracle Bromberger and her husband Kenneth Bromberger; adoring grandmother of Jamie Lynn Bromberger. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in passing by her parents, Richard Hall Paton Sr. and Margaret (Douglas) Paton,  brothers, David Douglas Paton, Robert Douglas Paton, and Richard Hall Paton Jr. (surviving wife Carol) and former husband, Paul L. Miracle.

Nancy was retired from the former Thrift/Eckerd Pharmacy in Monroeville, PA. She was very proud of her Scottish Heritage and loved her family and friends, especially her granddaughter, Jamie. Her greatest joy in life was the time spent with her family. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

She was born August 31, 1928 in Duquesne and was the daughter of the late John William and Helen Marie (Corcoran) Straub. She was the wife of the late Jerome G. Haughey, who passed away December 27, 2010.  She was a member of Mary, Mother of God, St. Angela Parish and the Ladies of Charity, where she was known for her baking during the bake sales. Lois was a 1949 graduate of the West Penn School of Nursing and would work as a registered nurse for 44 years for West Penn Hospital and later McKeesport Hospital. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and would attend games with friends.

An avid jogger and member of many gyms over the years, Jon was known by his neighbors for carrying a bag on his runs to clean up trash along the road.

Eugene "Gene" Urbanski

Eugene "Gene" E. Urbanski passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Aug. 2, 2021.  Gene was born Aug. 19, 1935 to Clarence and Helen (Dworek) Urbanski and was the youngest of 6 children.  Gene is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate Mickeline "Mickey" (Massaro) Urbanski; brothers Norman (the late Audrey), Edward (the late MaryAnn) and Thomas (Sandy) Urbanski;  brother-in  law Joseph (Mary) Massaro; sister-in-law Philomena Popovich (the late Michael).  God children Karen Pavlecic, Sally Hribar and Tammy Toski and generations of nieces and nephews as well as many other cherished loved ones.   He was preceded in death by brother Deacon Clemens (Jan) Urbanski sister Ann (John) Williams. 

Gene graduated from Glassport High School in 1953, where he was later inducted into the Glassport Athletic Hall of Fame for his successful football and baseball career which led him to Wittenberg University.  GO Tigers!  He graduated from Wittenberg University in 1957 and was instrumental in getting several scholarships for the upcoming students.  Gene was the halfback and safety for the Tigers, a 4 year letterman and was a three-time first team all Ohio conference pick and was also the MVP and captain of the football squad his senior season.  He played center field for the baseball team and won three letters while the Tigers won two conference baseball titles. 

Following his education at Wittenberg, Gene received his Master’s degree at the University of Pittsburgh.  Hail to PITT!  He taught English and coached both football and baseball at Glassport, Monongahela and Burrell High Schools then obtained a position with the Department of Education for 30 years.  He was voted by the Monessen Elks for "Coach of the Year" on June 26, 1964.  Gene became a scout for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1964 to 1970.  In 1987 he was inducted into the Wittenberg University Athletics Hall of Honor for both of his continued football and baseball career as a player, coach and scout.  Gene still loved to watch both college and professional sports.
