Carolyn M. (Hager) Wakefield, age 76 of White Oak, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at home. Born September 16, 1942 in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Santez) Hager. She enjoyed ceramics, calligraphy but most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 56 years Alan Wakefield; sons Jon (Joey) Wakefield of McKeesport and Jeff (Katie) Wakefield of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren who live with her Alexia and Elise Wakefield; other grandchildren Frank A., Landon, Brady, Riley, Haston, Abigail, Hanna, Jessica, and Ethan; sister Nancy (George) Madeja of Brentwood; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons Frank Wakefield and Robert K. Wakefield and grandson Vaughn Wakefield.

Bai Cai Lu, 60, of Glassport, died Sept. 1, 2019. He is survived by his wife Mei Ling Lu; daughters Wei Yee Lu and Wei Mon Lu. Bai Cai was the owner/operator of China Park Restaurant in Glassport, and he loved gardening. He spent his last days surrounded by family & died without pain. Betty A. Pikula, age 68, of Liberty Boro, died Friday, September 13, 2019. She was born in Pittsburgh on May 7, 1951 and is the daughter of the late Steve and Betty Maleski. She worked as the Administrative Assistant of the Medical Education Department of UPMC St. Margaret’s. She was a member of St. Mark’s, St. Michael’s and Queen of the Rosary Grouping.

She was a retired self-employed Home Interior’s accessory specialist, a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Township and a former member of Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church in Clairton. She and her husband Mitchell were members of the musical group, THE HOLLIDAYS, and were also owners of their own farm raising beef cattle, chickens, horses and crops.

Edward J. Horgas, 99, of Duquesne, died peacefully Thursday, September 12, 2019, in Golden Heights Personal Care, Irwin. Born in Duquesne, June 9, 1920, he was the son of the Late John and Elizabeth (Sabol) Horgos. Mr. Horgas was a member of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, West Mifflin, American Legion Post 308 in Dravosburg, and a proud U.S. Army Veteran of W.W. II, and the former VFW Post 188 in Duquesne. Mr. Horgas was a retired employee of the Union Railroad Company. Beloved husband of the late Betty J. (Argilan) Horgas. Ronald R. “Tugboat” Bodnar, Sr. aged 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 11, 2019. Ron was born in McKeesport, PA on July 7th, 1952 to the late Robert and Frances Bodnar.
He was affectionately known by friends and family as “Tugboat”, a nickname he earned from his 35-year career as a tugboat captain at U.S. Steel.
His favorite place to spend time was his “retirement home”, a camper and community near Pymatuming Lake, where he loved boating, fishing and spending his days with friends and family.
Ron had a larger than life personality and he lit up the room with his raucous laughter. He was a devoted husband, father, “Pap”, and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Deborah (Seng) Bodnar, son Ron Jr. (Kristy) Bodnar, son Brad (Noel) Bodnar, 3 adoring grandchildren, Carson, Mason and Olivia who lovingly knew him as “Pap”, and sister Debra (James) Reynolds.

Katherine “Kay” Margaret (Fien) Redinger, 96, formerly of Glassport, Pa, died Sunday, September 8, 2019, at McKeesport Hospital where she was born on August 21, 1923.
Daughter of the late Wojciech (Adalbert) Fien and Helen (Karnas) Fien, and wife of the late Anton Lawrence Redinger.
Katherine is survived by her daughters, Diane Chellevold and Susan (William) Droskey; grandchildren, Tiffany (Chris) Blakely, Jennifer (Michael) Hooper, Blair Droskey, Clark Droskey, Jessica Chellevold; great-grandchildren, Jerimiah Borg and Jamis Borg; sisters Bernice Nevitt and Florence Welesko; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Redinger; brothers, Casimir and John; and sisters Helen, Anna, Sister Mary Liliose (Leona), Sister Mary Edith CSSF (Theresa), Marie, and Dolores.
She was a member of the Queen of the Rosary Parish and Ladies of Charity in Glassport and a graduate of Glassport High School. She was a past employee of Westinghouse Electric Corporation from 1943 to 1948 as a taper, Mica builder and assembler; and worked at the Purdy Dairy and the Pittsburgh Glass Company, Glassport plant as a secretary.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Queen of the Rosary Parish, 530 Michigan Avenue, Glassport, with Rev. Miroslaus Wojcicki as celebrant.
Funeral service and interment will be held following mass at 11:30 a.m. in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, 14679 State Route 30, Irwin, and luncheon to follow.

Charles J. "Jeff" Blawas, 56, of Jeannette, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born December 6, 1962 in Jeannette was the son of the late Joseph Henry and Anna Marie Lokay Blawas. Jeff was a US Marine Veteran, serving in the first Desert Storm and was also in the Marine reserves for 20 years. He worked as a plumber for Newco in Scottdale and also enjoyed woodworking, especially cabinets and cupboards. He enjoyed skeet shooting, and car racing, but most of all loved his family. Jeff loved family reunions and was known for being a trouble maker, especially with water balloons at the reunions.

He was born July 17, 1938 in Duquesne and was the son of the late Stephen and Irene (Serfozo) Szepesi. He was the loving husband of the late Joan (Savel) Szepesi, who passed away May 18, 2002. Robert was an active member of the Free Hungarian Reformed Church, McKeesport. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963 and was honorably discharged. He was a Draftsman and CAD designer for Dravo Corporation. After his retirement, Bob enjoyed reminiscing about classic cars, watching Penguins hockey and Pirates baseball, and working on projects at his daughters' houses.
