William J. Riley, 87, of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully Monday, April 4, 2022. Born February 13, 1935, a son of the late Moral and Alice (Pearson) Riley in McKeesport, he lived every day to the fullest and was a very athletic and proud man. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Evelyn Gross (Eve,) both graduates of McKeesport High School. His children William G (wife Linda), Tamara Brady (husband Thomas of Exton, PA), and Timothy (wife Kathy of Winchester, VA) were the beneficiaries of Bill’s drive to be a fantastic father who worked late into the evenings to be available for play during daylight hours. He loved spending time with his grandchildren; Matthew Soohey, Amanda (Matt) Flamman, Ashley Riley, Allison Riley, Kelsey Riley, Riley Brady, Noah Brady and Brandon Riley. William, an Army veteran, was a wealth manager for Riley Financial Strategies Group, where his oldest son, Bill had the privilege of working with him for 25 years. Bill is also survived by his only brother, Robert (wife Judy) with whom he spent many weekends fishing in Potter County.
Bill was an avid sports fan, especially Pittsburgh sports, as a season ticket holder to the Steelers, Penguins and Pitt Panthers for many years. Him and Evelyn spent many years playing golf with their good friends from Pleasant Valley Country Club and Lincoln Hills, the course where he achieved one of his TWO holes in one (the other was in Sedona, AZ). Him and Eve also spent many days playing tennis with Drennan Heights neighbors. The Drennan community was very tight knit and a neighborhood of weekly picnics and sports contests. Bill and his sons froze the side yard for a hockey rink in the winter months, once even having the fire company stop by to fill the rink. Bill loved travelling with Evelyn, especially to Las Vegas and many golf destinations. Bill truly believed he had a great life and his family got to enjoy his life and those memories will be treasured forever.
