Dolores “Dolly” Mewkalo, age 92, of Duquesne, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023, surrounded by her family. Born in Duquesne on August 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Banosky) Jakub. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish - formerly St. Hedwig’s Church. Dolly loved her family above all else, including her many pets over the years. She was always present for family holiday celebrations, sporting events, vacations, and cross country visits. Dolly was quite adventurous. She road tripped to many places over the years, including Miami, Nashville, New Orleans, Disney World, Boston, New Mexico, and Canadohta Lake. Even in her 80s and 90s, Dolly went jet skiing and parasailing on Hilton Head Island, and traveled to Seattle. She also enjoyed crafting and watching Hallmark movies, especially with her grandchildren. She was quick-witted and had a good sense of humor, keeping us laughing until the very end. Dolly was the beloved wife of the late Theodore F. “Ted” “Fey” Mewkalo, for 56 wonderful years; loving mother of David C. (Linda) Mewkalo of Mt. Lebanon; adoring grandmother of Jessica L. (Stylianos “Styli” Tsinaroglou) Mewkalo and David C. Mewkalo II; sister of Albert (Marion) Jakub, Florence Jakub, William (late Patricia) Jakub, and late brothers Michael (late Genevieve) Jakub, Edward Jakub, Andrew (late Ann) Jakub, Frank (Marlene) Jakub, and John (late Faith) Jakubov. She is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as her extended family. Dolly’s wishes were for a private burial held in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery, West Mifflin. Bob was a Navy veteran and a retired electrician for Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. He was a lifetime member of the Irwin Sportsman’s Association, loved to hunt, and was a shooting enthusiast. He also enjoyed fishing. He loved working outdoors and always kept his lawn immaculate. One leaf on the lawn was one too many. He enjoyed Thanksgiving with his family and loved decorating for the Christmas Season. He was a member and past master of the McKeesport Lodge No. 641, F. & A.M. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings Harry Hill, William Hill, Harriet McPherson, Virginia Elcock, and Gary L. Hill.

Prior to his retirement, Robert worked as a machinist for Nuclear Automation and as an autoworker for GM. He was a graduate of Norwin Sr. High School Class of '70 and a member of St. Agnes Church. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports team fan, loved boating and enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He is survived by his wife, Diana (Kelley) Fontanese; daughters, Nicole Baker (Michael), Christi Simpson (Michael), sister, Sharon Bartolotta; grandchildren, Alexa Baker, Sloan Robert Simpson and Kai Simpson. Robert A. Bonczek, age 94, of McKeesport, died November 25, 2023, at home. Born December 19, 1928, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Paul and Helen (Janovitz) Bonczek and the husband of the late Doris Mae (Henry) Bonczek and the late Shirley (Marker) Bonczek.
Bob was the owner and operator of the former Bonczek Auto Service at the corner of Patterson Ave. and Walnut St. of McKeesport. He was also known as the undisputed "World's Finest Auto Mechanic!" Bob was a veteran of the US Army. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Screaming Eagle, 101st Airborne Division, serving during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. He was also a member of Saints Joachim and Anne Parish. He loved boating on the Monongahela River, traveling, hunting, and fishing. Bob also enjoyed dancing and skeet shooting at the Clairton Sportsmen's Club.
