Carla Gene Harper, 63, of Dravosburg, formerly of McKeesport, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. She was born in McKeesport on January 19, 1960 and is daughter of the late Robert and Beatrice (Roll) Harper. She is a graduate of McKeesport Area High School. Carla was known for her generosity and big heart, and a talented cook who never used a recipe but could prepare a gourmet meal in minutes. She was a shy young lady who later in life could walk into a room of strangers and leave with a new friend. She was very well liked and respected by anyone she met or knew over the years. She enjoyed an occasional ride on the Harley Davidson, a good glass of wine, and trips to Las Vegas; but more than anything, she cherished every moment spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, Savia, Rylee, Khyzer, and Ahrenzo. Grandma (Nene) was the title she was most proud of. Carla is survived by her life partner Mark Golya, daughters, Christina Harper and Stephanie'e (Zachary Williams) Golya, sister Bonnie (John) Miller, and many nieces and nephews who she adored. She is now reunited with her mother, Beatrice Harper, and brothers, Robert Harper and Arthur (Jack) Harper. Carla has requested to have no visitation. Arrangements are by the Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, director. A private memorial service will be held for family and close friends at a later date. Condolences can be made at Gilbertfuneralhomeandcrematory.com
