Kathleen M. “Casey” (Howley) Wagner, age 77, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at home. She was a retired Phlebotomist after 20 years at UPMC Shadyside Hospital. She was also a member of St. Joachim and Ann Parish, St. Michael’s Church in Elizabeth Twp. She was very active in her church as a member of the Christian Mothers, Ladies of Charity and Rosary Makers. She was a Eucharistic minister that administered communion to shut-ins, a facilitator of the bible studies program, festival helper and volunteer for Lenten fish fries. She was a member of the North Huntingdon #3221 AARP, was an avid Bunco player, and loved to travel, but above all else, she loved her family. She enjoyed watching Pittsburgh sports, the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Born May 11, 1945 in Schenectady, NY, she was a daughter of the late William and Isabelle (Tomaszewski) Howley and wife of the late Robert Chauncey “Bob” Wagner.

Paul L. Finney, age 80, of Elizabeth, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Canterbury Place in Lawrenceville. He was a retired machinist at Weld Tooling Company in Canonsburg and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and camping. He was a former volunteer fireman in Elizabeth and Glassport, a rabid Pittsburgh sports fan, and he loved his pets. Born April 1, 1942 in Glassport, he was a son of the late John and Margaret (Markland) Finney. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara J. (Henderson) Finney; three sons, Shawn (Christine) Finney of Dravosburg, Darin (Mo) Finney of Crested Butte, CO and Kevin (Amie) Finney of Mt. Vernon; six grandchildren, Cameron, Carson, Kaden, Austin, Avarie and Kenadie Finney; also, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Monday, April 3, 2023 from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ron Calabro officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp. Kathy Brecko, of Duquesne, PA., 89, passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on March 31, 2023.She was born in Braddock on July 10, 1933, and was the daughter to the late Edward and Catherine (Medrick) Wentroble. She was the wife of the late Joseph Brecko. Kathy was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-Holy Trinity Church in West Mifflin. Kathy’s greatest joy was being a mother to her children, Joseph John Jr. (Debbie), Sue (Marina Yanko), Cindy, and Lori Brecko. She loved being a grandmother to her Granddaughters Amy, Kathi and Chaya and Great Granddaughter Kelly. She was a homemaker. She also had a career as a Bell Telephone Operator, Teacher’s aide for the Duquesne School District, and served as president to the PTA of Duquesne Catholic Schools. She was preceded in death by brothers William (Maxine), George (Ann), Edward (John), Joseph (Late Josephine and Patricia Grace), and sister Mildred (Jim) Noe.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Kathy had a sense of humor, funloving, and loved to laugh. In her youth, she loved dancing to her favorite polkas.  Loved watching the Steelers. Loved going to the bingo and the casino. Never went out of the house without putting on some lipstick first. She loved to drive. She loved to cook and bake, especially cookies and pies. Special thanks to our Mom’s caregivers Lori, John, and Kayla who allowed our mom’s remaining years to live at home, on her terms. Finally to Bridges Hospice for their care and compassion of our mother in her last year of life. And extra thanks to our therapy dogs Rusty and Gracie who gave our mother much happiness and emotional support. Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023, from 10-11:30 a.m., at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 15110, 412-466-3300, WILLIAM B. SCHLEIFER, SUPERVISOR, WILLIAM BRIAN SCHLEIFER, FUNERAL DIRECTOR, where a Blessing Service will be held at 11:30 a.m., followed by Memorial Mass of Christian Burial, at 12:00 noon, at Holy Trinity Church, West Mifflin, with Rev. Nick Mastrangelo, officiating. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, West Mifflin, next to her her husband.

John A. Scalise, Jr., age 82 of Glasgow, KY, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 in Mon Valley Care Center, Monongahela.  Born October 10, 1940 in Clairton, he was a son of the late John A. Scalise, Sr. and Clementina (Roy) Scalise. A 1959 graduate of Clairton High School, John received his bachelor's degree from Morehead State University and his M.Ed. from Western Kentucky University.  He retired as a music teacher for the Glasgow School District and then worked until very recently for 27 years as a courier for South Central Bank.  John was a member and lector at St. Helen's Roman Catholic Church in Glasgow, KY and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Glasgow.  In his spare time, he was a co-director of the Glasgow Community Band, an avid sports fan -- especially his hometown teams from Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh, loved to work the sticks on Friday nights for Glasgow High School football, and really enjoyed playing with his great-niece-and-nephew Kennedy and Robert.  John is survived by his sister Lucille (Gary Moore) Herndon of Clairton; his nieces and nephews Alexis (Robert) Trubiani of Donora, John (Shannon) Shar of Crafton, Donna (the late Tom) Watson of Pleasant Hills, and Gloria Costa of Jefferson Hills; and also many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.  Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Jeanne (Henson) Scalise, who passed away June 6, 2010; his siblings Frank Scalise, Marie Gray, and Esther Shar; his nephew Robert J. Nystrom; and his brother-in-law Joseph Herndon.

Harold "Herky" Dovey

Harold "Herky" Dovey, age 78, of McKeesport, died March 30, 2023, at AHN Jefferson Hospital. Born December 9, 1944, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late John and Marybell Schmidt.

Herky was an avid sports fan, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates. Even though he was a Pirates fan, he would not root for them while watching games. He felt responsible if they lost, but if they won, he was elated. Herky enjoyed collecting baseball cards and studying the back to learn player stats. Herky had an excellent memory of baseball stats and would recall Pittsburgh Pirates lineups as far back as the 1960s. His happiest memories were being around his siblings, nieces, and their children.
Herky is survived by siblings, Colleen (the late Michael) Morgan and Rev. Carl (Janet) Schmidt; niece, Beth (Joe) Pienkoski; great-nephews, Dustin and Trevor Pienkoski. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, friends, housemates, and staff. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings, Mary Jane Tauber, Bill Schmidt, and David Schmidt.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Rev. Carl Schmidt will officiate.
The burial will follow at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.

Louis T. Campbell, Sr.

Louis T. Campbell, Sr., age 80, of Jefferson Hills, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. He was a member of Monongahela Church of the Nazarene. He had many jobs, including working for Blume Engineering and Allied Security. While working for coal mining companies, he worked as a mechanic and owned Campbell's Lawn Mower Repair where his children were proud to work for their first job. He maintained Lou's Locksmith for years and retired from the maintenance department in the South Park School District. His last job was with the Visiting Angels, which he was very proud of and mentioned to everyone he did that until he was almost 79. He was a Free Mason and member of the Omni Masonic Lodge 582 in Dravosburg, and a long-time member and vice commander of American Legion Post 75 in Clairton. He was proud of being a Santa at Denny's and the mall, where he gave gifts to the kids, and he always had time to camp with his family on the weekends. Born August 11, 1942, he was a son of the late Thomas and Inez (Tessore) Campbell and husband of the late Carol Ann (Paul) Campbell and Deborah J. (Werner) Campbell. He is survived by children, Cindy Lou (Rich) Harrison of Finleyville, Louis Thomas Campbell Jr. of South Park, Melinda Devlin (Shaka) of Floreffe, Kurt Martin of Buena Vista and Derek (Kathryn) Martin of Elizabeth Twp.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Kathy (Butch) Castner and Steve (Susan) Campbell; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by siblings, Tom (in infancy), Barbara Lee, Billy and Jimmy. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 1-4 and 6-8 PM, with a Masonic Service at 7:45 PM. Joseph Edward Slack, 84 of McKeesport, formerly of Dravosburg, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at UPMC Mckeesport Hospital. He was born in Dravosburg on October 23, 1938, to the late Joseph and Sarah “Evelyn” Rack Slack. Joseph was the loving husband of 34 years to the late Rosalie Sgattoni Slack. He is survived by his son Joseph P. (Janet) Slack of Dravosburg, his daughter Julie A. (Wayne) Kutchak of Liberty Boro, sister Martha Domer of Liberty Boro, grandchildren Wayne Kutchak of Port Vue, and Kristin (Ted) DuBois of Cecil Township, and great-grandchildren Taylor, Teagan, Caden, Noah, and Kennedy as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Joseph was preceded in death by his daughter Lisa M. Slack and his brother Lawrence Slack. He was a member of Corpus Christi, Mary Mother of God Parish in McKeesport, he was a lifetime NRA member and was also a member of the Elizabeth Township Sportsmen's Club. Joseph served in the United States Army. He worked as a crane operator for Duquesne Slag/Lafarge. Born September 9, 1943, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Anthony R. and Gertrude (Simco) Pecora. Robert was a 1961 graduate of McKeesport High School and was a member of the McKeesport Tigers Marching Band. He furthered his education at Youngstown State University and graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He served in the Navy and then the Naval Reserves from 1967 through 1971. After serving in the Navy, Robert began his career at Mobile Oil before starting his own businesses within the oil and automotive industry. Robert’s entrepreneurial spirit continued for the rest of his life.

Chuck retired from Martin Marietta Materials in St Antonio, TX, as a Master Maintenance Electrician. He retired as an EM2 in the United States Navy. Chuck was a McKeesport High School graduate of class 1974, and continued his education at Texas A & M University. He was a member of the Liberty Vets Club and enjoyed woodworking, playing online games and was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, William Lash; daughter, Debbie (Paul) Roth of New Orleans, LA; sons, Todd (Dana) Lash of North Huntingdon and Jeff (Heather) Lash of Pleasant Hills; grandchildren, Spencer Lash of North Huntingdon, Alexis, Joshua and Brandon Roth of New Orleans, and Alyssa Lash of Pleasant Hills; sister, Jayne Anne (Jerry) Goehner of South Park; also, nieces and nephews. Barbara  A. Thomas, age 72, of Port Vue, died March 22, 2023, at home. Born September 15, 1950, in Port Vue, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Bernice (Byrne) Bronder and the wife of the late Michael Thomas.
Barb dedicated her life to taking care of her son and home. She was a former member of St. Mark Parish. Barb was a strong and selfless woman who was always there for her son.
Barb is survived by her son, Shawn-Colin Thomas, six siblings, and her two cats, Sampson and Sassy.
