Chesteria Havrilla, 99, of North Versailles, born Nov. 3, 1923, died peacefully Dec. 13, 2022.
Affectionally known to extended family and friends as Ceil, our Mom was the second child of five born to Polish immigrants, Anthony and Sophie Chisco. Our Mother spent her childhood and part of her adult life living in North Braddock. A true “Rosie the Riveter,” our Mom supported the war effort as she rolled coils at Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh.
Mom was her happiest surrounded by family and floral arrangements. A longtime member of the McKeesport Garden Club, her fingers were always busy designing and arranging. She had a talent and shared her creations with family, friends, and people she barely knew but instantly liked. Mom loved playing cards, as well as ready to hit the machines at the casino in a moment’s notice. A true believer in God and His goodness, our Mother was dedicated to her church and prayed the rosary for comfort and guidance.
