Donald A. Palm, 94, of Forest Hill, MD, formerly of N. Huntingdon, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022 in Forest Hill Heights, Forest Hill, MD. He was born October 27, 1927 in McKeesport, son of the late Edwin G. and Mabel (Piper) Palm. Prior to his retirement, Don was a nuclear engineer for Westinghouse and a veteran of the US Army Air Force, having served during the Korean War Era.

Over the past 30 years, Don was a dutiful caregiver to several family members, and especially to his wife, Patricia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Huey Palm, his sister Joan (Palm) Kenders, and brothers Dale, Eugene, and Robert. He is survived by his daughter, Tracie Ulmes and her husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Abby and Patrick; and brother Gary and his wife, Darlene.

Samuel G. Coccia, Sr., age 81, of Elizabeth Twp., formerly of McKeesport, died January 17, 2022, at UPMC East Hospital. Born September 7, 1940, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Larry, Sr., and Scolastica Rose (Phillips) Coccia and the husband of the late Carol J. (Heveker) Coccia.

Sam was owner-operator of Larry's Hotel, serving the McKeesport community for over 58 years, where he was inducted into the Bartender Hall of Fame. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Sam was a former member of the former St. Perpetua Church of McKeesport. He was also a member of the McKeesport Area Tavern Association. Sam sponsored Larry's Hotel Softball Team, which won the 2012 Class E Global Softball League World Champs, along with sponsoring many other local youth sports teams. He was an avid Steelers football fan and enjoyed all sports. Sam and his beloved wife loved to travel and shared 52 trips to Las Vegas together.

Brian was currently working for TAKTL, LLC Company. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Brian loved the Steelers, Penguins, and playing any sport he could. He also shot a lot of pool! Brian Graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Industrial Hygiene and applied that learning to all the jobs he was in aiming to keep people as safe as possible.

Nancy Jean Ginanni, 61 of Clairton, formerly of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Jefferson Hospital. She was born in McKeesport on October 3, 1960, to Yolanda (Benedetti) Ginanni of Clairton and the late Emo Ginanni. She is survived by her mother Yolanda as well as her sister Janet (James) Cerqua of Clairton. Further survivors include nieces Melissa Cerqua and Danielle (Matthew) Jellison, great nieces Christina and Michelle, great nephews A.J., Jacob, Ryan, Jackson, and Tyler, as well as her beloved dog Lucky. Nancy was preceded in death by her father Emo. She was a member of the St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed the Pittsburgh Pirates, knitting, baking, and completing crossword puzzles. David Felix Monyok, 70, of Irwin, passed away peacefully in his home, Monday, January 17, 2022.  David was born January 28, 1951 at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh to Paul and Josephine (Parlak) Monyok.  David worked at Medical Wellness Associates for 23 years as Inventory Coordinator and enjoyed being part of the team.  David and Kimi were married 37 years.  David was a loving husband and a caring, wonderful father and we will remember him as our "fun loving guy!".  David is survived by his wife, Kimi Roehling-Monyok; two daughters, Madison (Michael) Kowalski and Elizabeth (Joshua) Lofstrom.  He was blessed with three grandchildren, Maison, Elliot and Teagan that were the joy of his life; and his two canine companions, Emma and Darby.  Also surviving are David's brother, Paul (Mariann) Monyok and family of Munhall; and sister, Anita (Chuck) Ruggles and family of Grover Beach, CA.

She is survived by her daughters, Lois (James) Leggett of Forward Township and Diane Mitchem of Bridgeport, WV, daughter-in-law, Carol Davis of Raleigh, NC,  grandchildren, Jill (Richard) Stoner,  Lisa (Ian) Gayman, Rachel (Tony)Nichols, Danielle Smith, and Wesley Mitchem, great-grandchildren, Joey and Maggie Stoner, and nieces and nephews. Skurnick, and brother, Edward Wyzlanski.  She is survived by her two sons, Andrew P. Jr. and his wife, Janet, David M. and his wife, Kathleen; daughter, Kathleen A. Troy Edward Funk, 73, of Ardara, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at his home.  He was born April 6, 1948 in McKeesport, son of the late Luther and Dorothy (Kapostas) Funk.  Prior to his retirement, Troy was a truck driver for Norwin Construction and a veteran of the US Navy.  He was an active member of Larimer Vol. Fire Dept. and enjoyed camping at Mountain Pines and trips to the casinos.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Funk.  He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Donna (DiRinaldo) Funk; sons, Troy Funk and his wife, Becky, Joe Funk and his wife, Kelly; brothers, Robert (Linda), Albert (Sandy) and James (Lynda) Funk; sisters, Marion (Tom) Dillen, Judy (Ken) Varga; grandchildren, Ashlyn (Richard) Manko, Jake (Erin) Funk, Jonathan Funk and Josh Funk; great-grandchildren, Keegan and Ella.  A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the James W. Bernard J. Derkas, Sr., age 84 of Versailles, passed away at home on Friday, January 14, 2022.  Born September 14, 1937 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Charles and Julia (Mallak) Derkas.  Bernie was a Veteran of the US Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War; was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish - St. Patrick's Church in Christy Park, and also worked as a self-employed furniture repairman and refinisher.  In his spare time, Bernie was a guitarist for the band "Shades of Country" and was a volunteer for the Rails to Trails program.  His family will remember his belief in hard work, humility, family values, and humor.  Besides his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by his wife Sandra (Hickman) Derkas, who passed away July 30, 2003, his son Mark Derkas, Sr., and his grandsons Vince and Daniel Derkas.  He was also preceded in death by his beloved dog, "Amos."  Bernie is survived by his children Cynthia (David) Krautz, Butch (Sandi) Derkas, and David (Sherry) Derkas; his eight grandchildren Anthony Derkas, Sr., Joe Derkas, Julie DeBlasio, Annie Krautz, Jes Krautz, Shelby Derkas, Mark Derkas, Jr., and Kayla Derkas; his four great-grandchildren Anthony Derkas, Jr., Paige Derkas, Vera DeBlasio, and Marky Derkas.
