He was born May 4, 1961 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Michael and Frances (Monaghan) Fayo. Michael was an Automobile Service Advisor and was a US Army Veteran. John Booth, age 94, a resident of Atria Assisted Living and formerly of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020 at Atria Assisted Living. An Army veteran having served in World War II, he retired after 20 years as a water tender for U.S. Steel Clairton Works. He was a former manager at Stanley’s Tire Service and a former coal stripper at Twilight Industries, and was a member of Ella Hollow Bible Church in Monongahela. Born September 12, 1925 in Jefferson Borough, he was a son of the late Abel and Gertrude Booth, and husband of the late Audrey (McWhirter) Booth. He is survived by son, Jack (Linda) Booth of Clairton; granddaughter, Mary Catherine (Phillip) DiMarco of Jefferson Hills; great-grandchildren, Christina and Domenic DiMarco of Jefferson Hills; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son, Terry Booth; sisters, Gertrude and Annie; and brothers, Joseph, Frank, Abe, Robert, Kenneth, Louis, Harry and Bill. Joseph C. Strinich

Joseph C. Strinich, age 96, of Elizabeth, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at home. He was a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Twp. and a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union. A Duquesne University graduate majoring in math and science, he was a 20-year employee of Kaufmann's after he retired as a roller at U.S. Steel Clairton Works after more than 40 years. An Army veteran of World War II where he flew a glider, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, European African Medal, Eastern Campaign Medal with six Bronze Stars, and fought at Normandy, Battle of the Bulge, and Omaha Beach. He and his troops were responsible for the fall of Eagle's Nest (Hitler's house). Born May 19, 1923 in Clairton, he was a son of the late Luka and Manda (Borich) Strinich, and husband of his beloved wife of 68 years, Catherine (Gatto) Strinich, who died July 6, 2019. He is survived by daughters, Catherine (Jim) Lowery of Peter’s Twp. and Denise (Chuck) Longo-Hendzel of Elizabeth; beloved grandpet, Opie; also, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son, Louis Strinich; sisters, Katie Strinich, Olga Kaylo and Ann Weinberger; and brothers, Pete "Simon", Mark and Matthew "Vic" Strinich. The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to Amedisys Hospice and especially his nurses, Terry and Ashley, and his two aides, Samantha and Kayla. Blessing Service and burial are private. Born March 15, 1935 in Elizabeth, she was a daughter of the late Emile M. and Theresa (Rich) Dandoy. She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Anthony Covelli, as well as her nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marian Gemmell and Lillian Dandoy. Thomas Bushik, 84, of North Huntingdon, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020 at Select Specialty Care, McKeesport.  He was born December 29, 1935 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Thomas and Leona Bushik.  Prior to his retirement, Tom was an electrical engineer for Siemens, Auburn and Associates and retired from Comstock Engineering.  He was a member of St. Agnes Parish and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and scratching off lottery tickets.  Tom was an all-around handyman and loved all of his grandchildren.

LaVerne Marie Milner, 98, of Richmond, VA, formerly of Irwin, peacefully transitioned to Heaven on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. She was born January 12, 1922 to Arthur and Bessie McWilliams of Turtle Creek.

After completing high school in Wilmerding, LaVerne was employed as a secretary by Westinghouse Air Brake in their general office. Later in life, she volunteered at Greensburg Hospital, taking newborn baby pictures and was then employed as a salesclerk in the gift shop.

LaVerne was a loving mother and wonderful caregiver to family, friends, and neighbors. She greatly valued family time whether it was welcoming them to her home in Irwin, taking yearly beach trips to the Outer Banks, or celebrating special events such as birthdays and weddings. LaVerne was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Irwin and was guided by her faith to care for others.
