Irene (Iski) “Galiyas” Kovalyak

Irene T. Kovalyak age 92, of West Mifflin died Friday, February 14, 2020 surrounded by her loving family and caregiver.  She was preceded in death by her first husband of 8 years, Mitchell Galiyas, and her second husband of 58 years George S. Kovalyak.  Born September 27, 1927 in New Alexandria, PA, she was the daughter of the late Andy and Irene (Kertes) Iski.  Irene is survived by her sons Mitch (Mary Jo) Galiyas of Kennedy Township, and George Kovalyak of West Mifflin and daughter Terri Michell (Kovalyak) of Bethel Park. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren Juliana (Mike) Carr of Robinson Township, Nathan (Amanda) Galiyas of Robinson Township, Father Zachary Galiyas of Kennedy Township, Moira (Mark) Cheeseman of Robinson Township, Kody Kovalyak of West Mifflin, and Lauren Michell of Bethel Park. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren; Michael and Roman Carr, as well as Whitney and Gavin Galiyas. She is survived by her 3 sisters, Joan Beckowitz of Conway S.C, Betty Anitori of Liberty Boro and Rose Zilich of Canonsburg. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Mary Bestwick and Ann Tomaino. Also preceded in death by her 5 brothers, Andy, Gabe, Frankie, Chuck and Joe. Irene was a lifelong domestic engineer who enjoyed cooking, baking and cleaning. One of her favorite things to do was having family get togethers surrounded by the people she loved the most. She was also a proud lifelong and cherished member of the Dravosburg United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank O.S.P.T.A Home Care and Hospice staff as well as the many wonderful care givers and neighbors who kept Irene comfortable at home. Family and friends will be received on Sunday February 16, 2020 from 2pm to 8pm at I.M FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 203 4th St, Dravosburg, PA 15034. A final farewell will be held Monday at 9:30am at I.M FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 203 4th St, Dravosburg, PA 15034 before proceeding to the chapel. A service will take place on Monday February 17, 2020 at 10:30am at the Dravosburg United Methodist Church, 109 Maple Ave, Dravosburg, PA 15034 followed by interment at McKeesport Versailles Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Dravosburg United Methodist Church, 109 Maple Ave, Dravosburg, PA 15034. Salmon age 72, of Duquesne, on February 13, 2020, at home.  Born in Greensburg on September 29, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Lewis & Anne (Marto) Gongaware.  She was the wife of the late John F. Salmon.  She is survived by children John L. (Marcie) Salmon of Lincoln Place, Patrick J. (Joyce) Salmon of Connellsville, Robert Salmon and Joseph Salmon both of Duquesne; 8 Grandchildren; brothers & sisters Betty, Bonnie, John, Dennis, Debbie, Pamela, Richard, Jimmy, Daniel, Julie. She was predeceased by brothers & sisters, late Barry, late Dale, late Rhonda, late Janice. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020  from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300, where a blessing service will be held at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Christine (Mularski) Hampe Sikoski, age 90 of Port Vue, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020 in Mt. Vernon of Elizabeth.  Born August 28, 1929 in Glassport, she was a daughter of the late Zygmunt and Estelle (Kwiatkowski) Mularski.  Christine was a member of St. Mark's Parish in Liberty Borough and worked as a manager at John's Bargain Stores around the Mon Valley, at the former Jaison's of McKeesport, and as a school bus driver for Earl Williams and Sons.  In her spare time, she was an avid bowler, card player, and taught aerobics for the Glassport Seniors.  Besides her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her first husband Jack Hampe, her second husband Richard A. Sikoski, her sons Albert and Jeffrey Hampe; and her brothers Anthony, Ernest, and Regis Mularski.  She is survived by her daughters Linda (Brian) Fox of Casa Grande, AZ and Judith (Kevin) McGinn of Elizabeth Twp.; her grandchildren Roxanne and Bryce Fox and Melissa (Sean Snyder) Ryan; her great-grandchildren Brandon and Jordan Slachta; her great-great-grandchildren Addison and Adam Slachta; her sisters Phyllis Carrick and Grace Vargo; and also nieces and nephews.

Hodinko, Jr., age 68 of Clairton, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020 in Jefferson Hospital.  Born April 30, 1951 in Waynesburg, he was a son of the late John and Madeline (DeFabbo) Hodinko.  A member of the Clairton High School class of 1969 and and recipient of a Bachelor's of Science from California Univ. of PA, John retired from Eastman in West Elizabeth and was an avid golfer in his spare time.  He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Cerepani) Hodinko; his children Anita (Mike) Primm and David Hodinko, both of Clairton; his granddaughter Abigail Braum; his brothers Joel (Joan) Hodinko of Elizabeth and Jamie (Deborah) Hodinko of Erie; and also nieces and nephews.

Ruhl; her children Mary Martha (Joseph) Yakubisin of Moon Twp., Patricia L. (Bill) Thomas of Valencia, John (Candy) Ruhl, Jr. of Big Bear, CA, and James A. (Donna) Ruhl of Liberty Borough; her grandchildren J.R. Daniel "Danilo" Petrovich, 88, of Duquesne, Fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at home. Born on March 24, 1931, in Duquesne, he was the son of the late Simo and Marija (Santek) Petrovich.

He was a member of St Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in McKeesport and a retired employee of U.S. Steel Corporation, Duquesne Works.

Beloved husband of the late Martha (Urban) Petrovich, he is survived by two daughters, Linda (Wayne) Newmyer and Helen (Joseph) DeCaria both of West Mifflin, a brother Sam Petrovich of Duquesne, two sisters, Violet Petrovich and Sophie Petrovich both of Duquesne, a sister-in-law, Takeko Petrovich of California, three grandchildren, Lisa Riles of North Huntingdon, Jason (Jennean) Newmyer of North Huntingdon, and SPC Daniel DeCaria of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, five great grandchildren, Nathan, Noah, and Carter Newmyer and Jacob and Kenley Riles, a niece, Dianne (Tim) Bristol, two nephews, Michael (Eleanor) Petrovich, and Rick Petrovich and two great nephews, Nicklos and Zachary.

She was born July 8, 1929, daughter of the late William and Katherine Hemmons Dix. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Carrie Ann Dix James and Patricia Vincenty; brother, William Dix and beloved nephew, Billy Chris James.

Jeanne lived in McKeesport for the majority of her life. After graduating McKeesport High School, she attended Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina for a short time and went on to obtain her bachelor’s degree at Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, Ohio.  While there, she joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in 1953 at the historic Zeta Chapter, where she served as the Anti-Basileus.

He was a former member of St. Joseph Church in Duquesne and the Teutonia Mannerchor Club in Duquesne. He proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Margaret  “Snooks” “Mag” J. Sellers, 86 of West Mifflin, died Feb. 11, 2020.  She is the daughter of the late Charles and Lula (Sikes) Boyer and beloved wife of Jesse E. Sellers.  Margaret is survived by her daughters Cathy (Terry) Burgess and Cindy (Robert) McCorkle, II; grandchildren R. Wesley (Jordan) McCorkle, III, Jesse (Natalie) McCorkle, Jared (Janaye) Burgess and Elizabeth Burgess; great grandchildren Archer, Hunter and Tucker McCorkle and Aila McCorkle; nieces, nephews and cousins. Margaret was a member of Lincoln Place Nazarine Church, where she was a choir director for over 45 years, a member of the Board, taught Sunday School for 16 years, cooked for all the church dinners, worked church camps and served as Missionary President.  She was considered a “master” cake decorator.   Friends received at Lincoln Place of the Nazarene Church, 5604 Interboro Ave, Pittsburgh, Pa 15207 on Sun. from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, at which time a funeral service will be held.  Funeral arrangements by Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne.
