Michael Campbell Daube, 92, passed away peacefully at home and went to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, on April 19. Mike most recently resided in North Huntingdon with his son and daughter-in-law. He was married for 63 years to his life’s love, Kathryn Hanna Daube, who pre-deceased him. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Campbell and Scundra Daube; brothers, Esau, Joseph, and George; and sisters, Sue, Millie, and Sara. Mike is survived by his step-mother, Samira Daube; brother, Dan; children, William (Gloria), JoAnn Johnston, and Nancy Pischel (James); grandchildren Mark (Pearl), Elaine Painter (David Isaac), Jeff Johnston, and Katie and Kyla Pischel; step-granddaughters Kristine Fischer (Tim) and Kim Pischel; great-grandchildren John, Ellie, Christian, and Evie Daube; Kathryn, Blythe, Ethan, Anika, and Wyatt Painter; and Norah, Ben, and Samuel Fischer. Mike is also survived by sisters-in-law, Jeri and Vern Daube, Mary Hassick, Esther and Mary Hanna; and many nephews and nieces. He served in Saipan during WW2 and received the Bronze Star. Mike was a lifelong employee of US Steel, starting as a messenger boy and retiring as a drafting department group leader. Mike and Kay were very active in the First Presbyterian Church in Monongahela, until his later years when he worshipped at New Life Presbyterian Church in Harrison City. Mike treasured his family. He was always upbeat, even when hospitalized, and made friends everywhere. Visitation will be from 2–4 pm and 6–8 pm on Friday, April 22 at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA 15642. Respects can also be paid on Saturday at 9 am, April 23 at New Life Presbyterian Church, 326 Raymaley Road, Harrison City, PA 15636 prior to the 10 am memorial service. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service, after which the funeral procession will go to the West Newton Cemetery. Sue W. Drescher, age 84, of Coulter, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 at her home. She was born October 17, 1931 in McKeesport, PA, a daughter of the late Frank and Betty Gault Boden. Prior to her retirement, Sue was an assembler for FEMCO Electric and a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church, North Huntingdon. Sue was a 62 year charter member of the Coulter Vol. Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and treasurer of Coulter Vol. Fire Department for 25 years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and ceramics. On March 16, 2016, she and her husband celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary.

Lois M. Scandinaro, age 82 of North Huntingdon, died April 12, 2016 at Forbes Regional Hospital. She was born July 10, 1932 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Robert and Loretta Mauer Thornton. Lois was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon. She enjoyed crocheting, was an avid card player, watching game shows, camping, jigsaw puzzles, word games, spending family time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank, daughters, Lois Scandinaro, Sandy Spudy and an infant daughter, three sisters, Loretta Rischer, Mary Wise and Betty Rall. She is survived by two sons, Frank (wife Beth), and Tom Scandinaro, one daughter, Lois Hathaway (husband Jack), three brothers, Bob, Joe and Jim Thornton, one sister Patricia Quesenberry , grandchildren, Tina Folmer, Dennis Erdly, Deborah Kuhens, John, Chris and Lee Scandinaro, Cassie Palmer, Matthew and Jessica Spudy, 17, great-grandchildren. Ruth E. Haberjak, age 90, of Youngwood, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg, PA. She was born June 30, 1925 in Uniontown, a daughter of the late John Henry Freeman Sr. and Lula Tallentire Freeman Ehrenburg. Prior to her retirement, Ruth worked for Cox's, McKeesport in the Credit Department. She enjoyed macrame, playing bingo and singing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Haberjak Sr; and brother, John Henry Freeman Jr. She is survived by her son, Edward Jr. and his wife, Genevieve; daughter, Mary Panico and her husband, Julius; five grandchildren, Lisa Panico Jackson (William), Wendy Lieberum (Eric), Erin Toner (Tom), Leah and Edward Haberjak; three great-grandchildren, Isabella, Raelynn and Kaleb. Edward J. Klotz Sr., 87, of North Huntingdon, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016 at his home. He was born October 21, 1928 in Duquesne, PA, a son of the late Michael and Anna Petrosko Klotz. Prior to his retirement, Edward was a masonry bricklayer for US Steel and was a Corporal in the US Army, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church, White Oak Rod and Gun Club, life member of the NRA and American Legion Post 0344 for 46 years. Edward was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and yard work and was a Pittsburgh Sports Teams Fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael. Mark A. Lavorini, 57 of North Huntingdon died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at his home. He was born July 1, 1958 in Lebanon, PA, a son of Marcia (Shirley) Lavorini and Nello and Irene Lavorini. Mark graduated from Sherwood High School, Class of 1976 and Mercyhurst University with a Bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice. He was employed as a Director of Commercial Sales for Dormont Appliance. He was the past president of BNI South Hills Chapter (Business Network International), and past State officer of the Pennsylvania Jaycees. He also enjoyed community service. Dian Matta 75, of North Huntingdon passed away March 22, 2016 at Forbes Regonial Hospital, Monroeville. Born November 22, 1940 in McKeesport, daughter of Dorothy Johnson Allen and the late Robert C. Allen. Dian was a Organist and Choir Director for Penns Woods United Methodist Church along with many other local churches. She also performed various organ recitals in the area.
